Chapter Seventy-One

The kitchen was quiet apart from the sound of the veggies sizzling in the pan before me and Dominic’s babbling from his highchair beside the kitchen counter, but my own thoughts couldn’t be silenced.  “Can I ask you something?” I spoke and Alpha Alliosn’s head shot up.  “I could be cringey and say you just did, but you look genuinely troubled. What’s up?” She focused her attention on me but continued marinating the whole chicken she planned on roasting in the oven.  I ignored the fact that she did in fact say what she said she would sound cringey saying and instead shared my dilemma with her, “This morning when Jasper and I walked out onto the training grounds literally everyone was staring at us. At first,

Chapter Seventy-Two

Alpha Devin handed me his iPad with a list of names, some of which I recognised as I scanned through.  “This is a list of the Alphas who have pledged their support in the fight against Dark, they will revert back to me with names and numbers once they have liaised with their packs.” He explained and I stared in awe at the long list. Having just arrived back from the annual Alpha conference, the two were in good spirits at the reception they received.  “This is great, you both really have an influence over that council.” I nodded impressed and Jasper hummed in agreement.  “Allison has helped a lot of packs over the years, her service is not so easily forgotten especially after the rogue revolution.” Alpha Devin smiled at his

Chapter Seventy-Three

I looked around with confused eyes, the house I was in looked an awful lot like my childhood home, but that made no sense because the last thing I remember was falling asleep beside my mate all the way in California.  “Look who finally decided to join the party.”  I spun around at the sound of the voice and found Alaster Dark cackling behind me.  This better not be what I think it is. “Oh this isn’t just another dream.” he sneered evilly, “welcome to your own personal hell.” He gestured around like a proud homeowner.  “What do you want Dark?” I sighed, dropping onto a nearby

Chapter Seventy-Four

I was growing frustrated. Between the silence of Dark’s imaginary world and the constantly worried voices mulling around my unconscious body, I felt like I was going crazy.  I had no doubt that the deeper I got in my frustration, the further I got from finding a way out of this mental prison, but I couldn’t see a single glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.  “Focus, Sophia. Think. How could Dark have done this? As far as you know he only has the power to manipulate iron, he doesn’t have mind control abilities or else he would have used it to get his way a long time ago.” I muttered to myself, ignoring the small voice in my head that mocked the action. Pondering everything I knew about Dark, I suddenly got an idea which made me scr

Chapter Seventy-Five

“Moon Goddess, come out, come out wherever you are!” Dark’smaniacal voice echoed through the hallways making me shiver.  I was hidden in the secret panic room which existed in every house at the Cresent Moon Pack and luckily for me, Dark had no idea where it was or even that it existed. What an idiot.  “I’d hate to leave without saying goodbye.” He drawled, humour evident in his voice. The psychopath was enjoying the chase. “Oh no, I’ll miss you terribly,” I mumbled to myself, continuing to draw as I blocked him out.  “I’ll be sure to tell Jasper how much you miss him.” H

Chapter Seventy-Six

Intruders advanced towards us from every side and before we knew it the pack house was surrounded. Behind the frontline, pack members scrambled to get to safety. Warriors from different packs rallied to keep Dark’s men at bay, but just as soon as they attacked, chaos broke loose. A beefy man lunged towards me, swiping a knife in my direction which narrowly missed my cheek as I ducked. The size difference made it easy for me to manoeuvre around him and deliver low punches which seemed to irritate my opponent. The knife in his hand was swinging wildly around him as he tried to get me and eventually he succeeded in slicing open a cut on my arm- oh how I regretted wearing a vest. Feeling the burn of the cut and warm blood dripping from the cut, I grew angry and before he could take another swing at me, I twisted my body in the air, landing a roundhouse kick to his face. The blow seemed to be just what I needed as his body thudded to the floor, unconscious. I barely had time to catch my

Chapter Seventy-Seven

“Didn’t think breaking and entering was much your style,” I commented, coming to a stop behind him.  By the tensing of his shoulder, I could tell he was surprised to see me awake, but when Dark turned around, the look on his face was his usual cocky one. “Moon Goddess! I see you’ve found a way to escape my little prison, I must say I underestimated you.” He smirked cockily.  “You tend to do that a lot so what’s new there?” I shrugged uncaringly.  “So what are you doing here? As you can see I’m standing right before you and well, I doubt you expect the Moon Talisman to be hidden in there after your last endeavour.” I mocked, enjoyi

Chapter Seventy-Eight

I didn’t feel my body hit the ground, but when the sensation returned to my fingers and toes and my eyes cracked open all I saw was the orange hues of the twilight sky above me.  Chaos had once again ensued around me, in the distance I could see Jasper fighting Dark, but by the sluggish movements, I knew Dark’s power was affecting him.  Frozen in my position I watched as Jasper collapsed to his knees, looking completely drained of energy and my heart thumped wildly in my chest. Dark held a dagger over Jasper’s spent body, ready to thrust the silver blade into his chest when a scream bubbles from my chest.  “BELEN!” Rage dripped from my tone as my body began to shake violently.

Chapter Seventy-Nine

Jasper and I stepped into the office and just like that conversation seized and all eyes turned to us. “What’s going on?” I shifted uncomfortably, feeling vulnerable in just my mate’s thin T-shirt. “Jasper-” Alpha Allison bit the inside of her cheek, glancing at her mate uncertainly, “There’s something you should know.” She hesitated and I felt my mate tense at my side. “What is it?” he questioned emotionlessly. “Alpha Atwater was amongst the Alphas who joined the battle, he arrived at the last minute and there wasn’t enough time to inform you of his arrival before the first group of rogues descended on us.” She dropped the bomb and Jasper’s hand gripped mine tighter. “Okay?” He swallowed thickly and clenched his jaw. “I’m afraid he was badly injured in battle, he’s in surgery as we speak, but the doctors aren’t hopeful. He was stabbed in the spine with a silver blade. If he does survive, there’s a good chance he might be paralysed for the rest of his life.” Her voice remained ca

Chapter Eighty

“I’m sorry Alpha Atwater, but your vertebrae have been too extensively damaged. There’s a chance you may never walk again, even shifting into your wolf will be immensely painful and I’m not sure how this will affect your other form.  Luna Atwater along with her two young daughters arrived earlier this morning, around the same time that Alpha Atwater awoke from sedation, he had yet to comment on Jasper’s presence, but at least he wasn’t outwardly hostile.  Luna Atwater- whose name I was yet to learn, sobbed tragically at the mention of her mate’s condition.  “What ab- about physical therapy?” She begged and I felt my heart constrict.  “We
