Chapter 1: Goodbye Old Life

I'm good at being invisible, but when you've lived your entire life in the shadows, it's the LAST thing you want to feel while you sit hiding like a peeping tom in the tree line drooling over a man you only WISH knew you existed! I’ve always felt like an outsider. Only ever able to look, but never touch. How I wish that could change. I want to be SEEN, but sadly, my mother has made it very clear that could NEVER happen for me. No, I am destined to remain in the shadows if I ever want to have a life worth living. ‘ROBYN! WHERE ARE YOU? You need to hurry!’ My mother hurriedly mind-linked me from the comfort of our cozy yet worn and well weathered cottage tucked away in the Forest of the Okapi. Wolves of high rank, such as my mother and myself, can utilize mind-linking as a way to quickly communicate with one another across vast distances once we gain our wolves on our eighteenth birthday. We just have to mentally focus on the person we are trying to speak to in our mind. Typicall

Chapter 2: A Spell Broken; A Scent Renewed

Robyn After Oma passed on up to the Moon Goddess, Mom and I sat for a moment and quietly processed what had just happened. Mom began covering Oma with a blanket so Oma would appear as if she was just sleeping, then she got up and walked into the kitchen without another word. I watched my mom, speechless. The woman we had treated like a mother, a grandmother; my mother just tucked back into bed as if she hadn’t just died and then walked away. I decided to table my mom’s behavior for another time since I didn’t really know what Mom meant by how much time we would have before we were found. So, I chose to focus on my Oma. This sweet white haired, wrinkle skinned, small, old woman that used to rock me on her lap as a pup while we watched my mom work in the garden picking the day’s vegetables and fruits, or planting more for the next crop. I quietly said a prayer to the goddess to guide my Oma into peace before I got up and followed after Mom. “We should go now. If we start after t

Chapter 3: Lost and Found

Colt One Week Later I couldn’t get the vision of a brunette girl with hypnotizing red eyes out of my head all week. I saw her sitting in the underbrush of the tree-line to the Forest of the Okapi watching my field training with my Deltas. My first thought was - that can’t be right…a female with red eyes. Only mated Alpha wolves had red eyes. How could this female have red eyes? Was she mated too? I’d have to go to the library and do some research on this later. What was she doing there? Why was she watching us? Something about her seemed to draw me to her, but by the time I got to the tree-line where she had been, any piece of evidence my wolf, Renlee, should have been able to pick up on - her scent, her tracks, broken branches, ANYTHING she touched to show the area had been disturbed - was gone. I searched all around the area where I thought I saw her but the entire area looked as if no one had ever been there and certainly not just perched against a tree, basking in the sun li

Chapter 4: Caught

Cohen “LET GO OF ME!” The tiny brunette she-wolf screamed and snarled as my unforgiving men dragged her kicking and screaming into Tyr from the wilderness of the dark forest. I knew she would be one hell of a specimen to trap, but I was still reeling at the level of behaviors I continued to witness come from this sexy hazel-eyed vixen of a female in front of me. “GET OFF OF ME YOU FILTHY ANIMALS!” She proceeded to screech, “LET ME GO!” I expected her to try the obvious self-defense moves such as trying to kick my men in the nuts. Yawn. Boring. I expected her to use her claws and try to scratch, bite, and literally claw her way out of a jam. Again. Yawn. Boring. We had her beat in sheer strength alone, although she was much stronger than I would have initially expected her to be, just from her petite frame alone. She got a few good hits in on Desmund and Onyx, but that only fueled them up more. I walked proudly as Onyx and Luca continued to pull her into the pack house palac

Chapter 5: Dinner Ultimatum

Robyn I followed Nina down several long corridors until she stopped at a grand entrance. The intricate carvings of wolves on the doors themselves to the large grandiose dining room were breathtakingly beautiful. I’d never seen something so magnificent and beautiful before. When Nina opened the doors to the grand dining hall, I thought I was asleep and juuuust about to wake up in real life. I stood in front of the Alpha King himself seated at the grand dining table alone, appearing to be waiting for someone to dine with him. His eyes glowed red briefly enough for me to catch it and confirm my suspicions that this man really was the Alpha King. He looked dangerous, yet approachable and warm, as he stood to greet me from his seat. He was an extremely large, hulking and imposing man, covered in knotted muscles all over his body with scars from wars and battles of the past all over him. If the scars and hunched posture didn’t give indication to his age, his wrinkled, leathery-tanned ski

Chapter 6: Introductions

Robyn I thought he wouldn’t accept my condition, but shockingly enough, he did. “Where is she?” I asked. Vale smiled, “She is…adjusting to her new life too, now that she doesn’t have to hide and worry about you all the time.” “That doesn’t answer my question. My mother, or, I will not be your son’s…” I hesitated before continuing, “mate,” I gritted out. Vale used this moment to distract me. “I promise you will see your mother and get to spend all the time you would like with her, but she has asked for time to adjust. She won’t see anyone at the moment,” and just as Vale was about to say something else, a tall man abruptly entered the room. “Ahhh, son! We were just talking about you!” Vale smiled and acted as if he hadn’t just almost lost his shit, a few moments earlier. At that moment, I felt Zara rear her nosy ass up. She was pushing forward to get a good look around. ‘What is your deal Zara? Why are you so edgy?’ ‘I smell something ah-may-zing! I want whatever that scent i

Chapter 7: Pod Mates

Robyn The guys all looked at each other. Colt glanced at his father, who was sitting, listening as he continued to finish up his meal. “Well, jump in anytime father!” Colt sighed before clearing his throat to continue, “Well, with wolves beginning to notice fewer and fewer she-wolves being born year after year, over time, wars between packs broke out. Whole packs would fight other packs for their last breedable females. They were killing more and more she-wolves than they were saving. No one was surviving the blood baths that the panic caused,” he paused to take a sip of water from a glass in front of him at the table. This wasn’t new information to me. My mother had kept me abreast of all the political and social issues of the packs and our species. I knew she-wolves were in short supply, I just hadn’t realized HOW short of a supply we were until my eye-opening conversation with Vale. “Could anyone figure out why the she-wolf birth rate slowed?” I asked, concerned and fascinat

Chapter 8: A Tour

Robyn My heart beat sped up at hearing Alpha King Vale's order to my apparent 'pod mates' that they were to be "unified" by the end of the night tonight! I didn't know what to do with that. Did I hear him right? Surely, he misspoke, right? Did that mean we were to be mated by the end of the night? The hulking masterpieces in front of me must have picked up on my immediate panic because Onyx was quick to speak after Vale left the room, "Don't worry love. Unifying isn't the same as mating," he gave a soft, comforting smile in an attempt to calm my rapidly beating heart and rising blood pressure. My eyes immediately darted to Onyx, staring deeply into those black globes that seemed to soften under my nervous stare. For some reason, I immediately began to feel better, like the words were a form of liquid melatonin that helped calm me down and slow my rapidly beating heart. "But...h...he said," I began and was quickly cut off by Cohen, "we know what that cranky asshole said. And Onyx ju

Chapter 9: Settling In

Robyn I was stunned as I took in the vision before me. The room was actually multiple rooms that opened to one another. I walked into the room as Colt closed the doors behind me. "Wow!" I declared in awe. I walked around as I took in all the sights in front of me. It looked like Colt designed a main or centralized bedroom with an over-sized bed that looked like it could sleep a small army on it in the center of the room. The bed frame was gold with intricate designs scrolled all over the frame. White silks flowed all around the room and looked as if they were coming out of thin air but when I looked up, I realized the silks were hanging from different places coming from the ceiling and when I looked directly up from the bed, I saw that the vaulted ceiling was also GLASS so as I slept, I would be able to look up and see the moon and stars. It was beautiful and the room was decorated sensually. "I always slept better outside under the stars and wondered if you did too..." Colt chuc

Chapter 10: A Run-In

Robyn When Colt and Cohen left to go deal with pack business, I took the opportunity to go back to the "guest bedroom" as the guys had called it, where I first stayed when I had arrived. I felt safe in the room, and comfortable. Luca and Onyx seemed saddened that I wanted to be in here instead of in their main shared bedroom area, but I could also tell they understood that it was going to take some time for me to warm up to all of this. They went about the rest of the evening continuing to move their belongings into the separated spaces, leaving me to have some privacy. I wasn't entirely sure about all of these men around me all the time. I was still a bundle of nerves and determined to find a way out of this impossible arrangement I had agreed to in the heat of the moment, not realizing what entirely that meant or entailed before agreeing to it, to save myself from a miserable existence at the hand of Alpha King Vale. Staying inside the room assigned to me upon arrival here for
