Chapter 11: Making Friends

I was sipping a warm cup of coffee out in my private garden that Barb showed me when she brought the coffee up. I thought I heard a noise just over the walls on the other side of the garden area. I was nursing my splitting headache from earlier today when I desperately tried to mind link my mom unsuccessfully when I heard someone's voice. "Ohhh these are lovely!" I heard a sweet soft female voice coo from the other side of the brick wall. Curiosity always got the better of me, and my boredom was reaching new heights being that I was locked away in what felt like a gilded cage unless I wanted to be escorted around by Luca and Onyx. I wasn’t used to being locked away like this. Granted, I was hiding away from everyone right now, in an attempt at avoiding my so-called “pod” of mates. But, none-the-less, I was used to living outside, checking the stones every morning and evening; practicing all the moves Colt taught his men in the training fields as I watched from my perch in the tree

Chapter 12: Misplaced

Colt My father finished signing the last of his paperwork for the day when I barged into his office without knocking. "Damnit Colt! What have I told you about," Father began to growl loudly before I apparently rudely interrupted him, "about walking into MY office, father? Hm? Not what you were going to say?" I looked irritated and clearly tired of him still trying to handle paperwork for the pack. Now that I have my mate and Father formed my pod officially, the pack will begin transitioning to me. Father will finally be fully retired from pack business and done with constantly undermining all of my attempts to innovate and streamline things around the pack. "I told you once and I'll say it again, Colt. Once you mate and mark your mate, and you have a pup of your own on the way, THEN, I will resign and pass your rank and titles to you. NOT BEFORE!" Alpha King Vale, as my father is known to everyone else, shouted with a rather grumpy tone. "You know as well as I do that you are ti

Chapter 13: Accidental Run-In

I spent a little more time with my new friend, Rose. Rose was summoned to the kitchens to bring in all the herbs and vegetables she foraged, unfortunately for her, she didn't have much to return due to her distraction, but she said that she didn't mind and she would go out later to search for more. She even invited me to come along the next time she goes out foraging! Just as I think about maybe using Rose to help me get out of here and to a safer place, almost as soon as the thought crosses my mind, the reminder of the level of loyalty the fae have towards the Alpha King and his realm slaps the hope filled air right back down. I'll have to find my way out of here on my own. After saying goodbye to Rose and asking her to stop by again for coffee, I began to devise a plan. Luca and Onyx were still unpacking and doing things in the other rooms of our living quarters and it was only a matter of time before they started pestering me about dinner. Colt and Cohen hadn't returned from whe

Chapter 14: Friends and Alliances

Robyn After hearing what Valentine wanted, I immediately began to grow even more nervous. What do you say to that? Just then, Valentine burst out laughing, “Calm down, little wolf. I’m only teasing! You sure did look like you were going to have a stroke if I didn’t say something though. Ah, I haven’t had a good laugh like that in at least a decade so thank you for that!” I smiled, trying not to show how much I actually let him get to me just then and giggled, “Haha, so…funny…You got me there!” “But I am quite curious…why are you in my chambers all the way down here in the underground kingdom.” Should I be honest with him since he was just messing with me and he isn’t actually going to take my blood? Maybe I should lead with a partial truth… “I…I got turned around in the passages and then I just got lost and saw an old man and thought to go ask him how to get back to my rooms when I realized…I was in somewhere completely different all of a sudden. How did he do that?”” It was som

Chapter 15: Desperate for Affection

Colt "Where is she?" I growled at Cohen as I walked into our apartments. "She's in our bedroom. I'm not letting her go back to the guest bedroom. Not until you got here, at least." Cohen always knew what I would want and in this instance, it was no different. I wanted her in our bedroom so I could have a little conversation with our mate. I walked into the bedroom, undoing my formal attire. I was ready to relax for a while. I had spent the last three days working tirelessly, while trying to stay sane, so I could spend a few days with Robyn without the urgencies of the realm niggling at the back of my mind. When I laid my eyes on her delicious, creamy white skin and soft red eyes, I knew she was upset. She was sitting on the bed with her legs crossed up under the dress Barb had placed her in this morning. She looked so pure and innocent in those light and dark blue toned dresses. It made it even harder for Renlee and I to control ourselves. I kicked off my boots and the rest of m

Chapter 16: Facing Punishment

Robyn As soon as I realized how genuine and true all the guys were being and how serious Colt was about trying to help me see my mother, I couldn’t contain my happiness. I squealed so loud, I probably sounded like a piglet being hogtied! I didn’t care though and I immediately reached forward to grab Colt by the cheeks before I pulled him forward to kiss him. I then proceeded to turn and hug Cohen, Luca, and Onyx as I kissed each of them as well to thank them for this kindness. I wasn’t sure of the proper etiquette for expressing gratitude to men, but I tried to return their sweet gestures in kind. I hoped that was appropriate. They all seemed surprised that I did though. I had never been one to get physical with even my mother and Oma, but something about being with these guys made me feel so…safe and comfortable, like it was just natural to do. I had thought more about what they had asked of me, to at least TRY to make this work. Before meeting these mouth-watering-temptations-o

Chapter 17: Accepting Punishment

Robyn I woke up the next morning feeling full of energy and more refreshed than I could ever remember feeling. This renewed vigor came at a much needed time and it felt like a breath of fresh air; like something had been sitting on my chest restricting me from being able to take in a full breath of air up to this point and whatever had been on my chest, was finally gone! I slowly opened my sleepy eyes one lid at a time to peek through the blindingly bright and sunny natural light that seemed to pour through every facet of the room. As I allowed my eyes to adjust to the brightness of the room around me, I moaned out loud as I stretched in all directions to allow my muscles and body time to slowly begin to wake up as well. At that moment, I realized I wasn’t alone. I heard the low groans, moans, and growls of four sleeping wolves curled each in a different corner of the MASSIVE bed. I was sleeping in the bed in THEIR ROOM! Upon realizing this, I jolted up in the bed and began l

Chapter 18: Getting Permission

Not being able to see or talk to Robyn’s mother was really messing my love up. She couldn’t eat or sleep well and she still kept her distance from us emotionally. I could tell she still had a lot of walls built up around her, even if she was responding to our advances and affections little by little. It gave me some hope for our future knowing that she was at least starting to try and open up to us more. She had started to warm up a little, but not like mates are supposed to open up when they meet one another. I’ve heard all the fated mate stories about the instant you meet your mate, you finally start the rest of your life, and my father has told me many tales from the past that leave me in wonder to this day. I want that for myself and my mate! But she didn’t feel the same way. I have to figure out how to get through to her. I knew that she was still holding on to the life she lived before coming here. It was so obvious in her constant snooping around. I knew she wasn’t “explor

Chapter 19: Getting the Good News

Robyn After the morning began to push into the afternoon, I found myself taking Luca’s arm as he showed me around more of the palace. First, he took me to show me where the pack kitchens and dining hall were located so I could always find food and others to keep myself company if I ever found myself lonely or hungry. Not that I ever would, according to Luca. Luca was the head Gamma and in charge of seeing to it that every she-wolf and pup in the pack were cared for, their needs were met, the pack was supplied with enough food, materials, and that all pack defenses were well-maintained. He was also responsible for the pack’s emergency responses to attacks and the protocols for securing all members unable to fight and defend themselves. I admire that about him. I thought he was just a warrior and the lowest rank in our pod, but it turned out that I was wrong and he was actually just as important to the pack as Colt, Cohen, and Onyx. After showing me all the main areas, including t

Chapter 20: Meeting Mother

After Colt told Luca and I that his father would finally allow me to see my mom, he told Luca to go back to our quarters and begin his preparations. Whatever that meant. He escorted me to almost the complete opposite side of the world practically! It took us FOREVER to reach my mom’s new living quarters and don’t ask me to remember how to get back here! Her living quarters were extremely nice, almost as nice as mine. It felt strange being here, but I was too happy and excited to finally see my mom after what felt like forever to care about those kinds of details. “MOM!” I shouted, running straight into her arms for the longest hug of my life. “Sweetie!” My mom said, smiling brightly with her arms out to receive me as she stood from the sofa. She was sitting in the main parlor of her living quarters waiting for me. An older man, probably in his 40’s, was sitting at a table behind the sofa in the distance on a laptop trying to pretend he wasn’t paying attention to our conversation
