CHAPTER ELEVEN

His eyes searched her face for any reaction when he stopped speaking. Surprisingly, she burst into fits of laughter. Clyde's eyebrows twisted with fury and he clenched his fists. "You find what I say funny?..." Giggling, she nodded. "Yes, I do. How long did you have to rehearse this?..." But he wasn't amused. And he was certainly struggling to bottle up his anger. He did not doubt that if she pushed him again, he would lose it. She shook her head with gusto. "No?..." And then silence settled over the room as she realized that he was indeed telling the truth. It was like the true meaning of his words caught the light in her head. There was not a glimmer of amusement or smile around Clyde's face. His chiseled face was rigid, bearing visible anger as he focused his gaze on her. "You're not joking..." She admitted. Clyde wondered if his expression had ever pointed out that he could be joking. He wondered if she had gone blind for the minute he had shifted before her. As much as he f

Emma stared at the files before her, which contained the autopsy report. It had arrived early that morning and caused turmoil in the office. The result was shocking and incredibly unbelievable, yet, she somehow had expected it. The result revealed the men were killed by an animal attack. It raised so many controversies amongst everyone but she remained quiet. Clyde was right. He was right all along. Her gaze landed on Allen, her partner. He was stomping around the place furiously. CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Folklore Wiki had described them as cursed creatures with attributed strength and speed far beyond those of wolves or men. Emma had paused her reading to recall the night she was almost killed. She recalled the agility and speed of the men that attacked her and how the workers seemed to be faster even in their human form. She had found that they were quick to temper whenever threatened or challenged and were far more brutal than their human appearance suggested. The true understanding of Clyde's words sank deep into her. She had managed to remain alive for a few minutes and they were barely challenged to fight her. She had also learned that they aged slowly and could live for hundreds of years. She had imagined how many of them were in Minnesota and how long they had to live to infect more people. With each discovery, she felt like the world she had been living in was merely a lie. 'You're my mate...'The words rang in her head continuously like a bell. She was his soulmate. She dis

Emma closed her eyes and fought back tears. She sat in her car with the windows rolled up, struggling with her emotions and thoughts. The parking lot emptied as ten minutes turned into an hour and continued ticking. Staring at her office building, she tried to fight off the bitter taste of submission and disappointment that ate her gut like acid. She was his mate. A werewolf. Yes, she wasn’t in a relationship and her hopes of falling in love were dying a gradual death. But she was not thrilled with the idea of being betrothed to a person. A werewolf. She thought of the fantasies she had about her life and wondered how it would fit in. Then she realized it couldn’t. She wondered if sneaking into the warehouse had hastened his plans to claim her and she let out a long sorrowful moan. A mate was a mate. And she couldn’t avoid him even if she crossed to the other side of the planet. He would find her. And oh, yeah, he would mark and mate her. Cursing, she started the engine to dri

CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Emma closed her eyes as a tiny tear dropped on her chin. The wind was beating furiously against her face and she could barely see through the thick cover of trees around her. She had her arms wrapped tightly around Clyde’s neck as they dashed through the woods. His agility amazed her as he propelled himself faster and faster. She didn’t know how she had accepted to go with him. She didn’t understand why she was perched on his back as they moved through the woods. But what she knew was that the last couple of days had messed with her head. She couldn’t keep track of the things she didn’t understand so she just had to add that to her list. She didn’t resist when he offered to take her to his pack nor did she reject his offer to carry her there. She had simply accepted because she was terrified of his reaction if she declined. But she was also curious. She desired to see his pack and the world beyond simple humanity. Clyde maintained his human features as they ran in silence through

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Clyde watched as Emma’s expression switched from confusion to anger. Her brown eyes were lit with fury, and the muscles ticking in her jaws showed how she was displeased by his statement. Her face had twisted into a frown and her fist was curled beside her. “What do you mean by that?" She asked again, peering at him with intensity. “It means that you cannot be the Luna of my pack…” Clyde responded casually, ignoring the apathetic look on her face. “What?” “I said….” “No. No. No…” She silenced him with one hand, and Clyde found himself obeying her. “You break into my house, you tell me all this bullshit, but you are planning to ruin my life? Is that it?" “You are …” She cut him off again. “You think you can waltz into my life and…and…” She stammered. “You had this planned all along?” “Yes, and why does it matter?" “Why does it matter?” Her eyes were wide with fury. Clyde hissed. “In case you haven’t noticed, I am the Alpha of this pack. I will not take a human as my Luna,

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

Emma truly didn’t believe he planned to keep her as a side thing while he progressed with his relationship with Emily. Not until he confessed casually. As she stared at him with shock, a thousand different emotions were crashing through her. She recoiled, she struggled to keep her face impassive and her outrage hidden as she was starkly reminded of the fact that she was in the pack house. But the words he had said to her were unbearable and hard to digest. ‘You have six months to fall in love…’It took her a moment to gather her thought but once she did, she knew it was impossible. He had only said that to her to make him feel better about himself. Her head spun and her fingers were shaking from the impact of his words. Six months to fall in love, she reminded herself. How did he think love worked? Did he think it was the same as a wolf bond which could pull you all the way to another city to find your mate? Did he think she was desperate to be in a relationship? She was beginning

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Clyde did a double take, positive that he misheard Emma. “You what?”She turned her head to him and took her time repeating herself. “I’m going to file an arrest warrant on you if you don’t stop showing up everywhere I go.”“Everywhere you go? It’s been a week since I heard from you.”Emma blinked. “Well, I would love to keep the distance. You clearly do not understand when a person is intentionally ignoring you.”Clyde glared at her. It had been a week since she furiously walked out on him during their visit to his pack house. He sensed that it was the result of Emily's action which might have caused Emma to become jealous. He had wanted the visit to go successfully. However, Emily couldn't just stop taunting Emma. CHAPTER TWENTY

Clyde stared at the humans approaching them with fury. He slowly curled his hand into a fist beside him and his jaw locked. Dark veins began to circle his eyes and his chest was rising and falling. There was no doubt that they were coming to attack them. The sun was setting and darkness was creeping over the sky. He was right. Trailing Jim was a bad idea, but Emma didn’t listen to him. She always objected to whatever he said to feed her ego. She was a stubborn, weak girl whose actions got her into trouble always. If she had simply listened to him, he wouldn’t have had to kill the humans approaching them. But then, he couldn’t bear such disrespect. No matter how stubborn she was, he couldn’t let the humans fiddle with his strength and authority. He was an Alpha, and he would act like one. With his eyes focused on them, he realized that they were armed as they drew nearer and their proximity was closing up. From the corner of his eyes, he could feel Emma trembling. He could hear her
