Chapter One

Daisy returned home late in the afternoon feeling so tired and used up. She dumped her bag on the cushion and slumped there for a while, being sad for herself. She had just returned from a job hunt and it was obvious that it didn't go well. She was angry at herself for overreacting or acting up, when she would have been as quiet as a dove, which she really was. She thought. "I mean, how would I have known that the little man who was hopping up and down and showing himself off, how would I have known he was the interviewer. They don't behave so silly as he did. It's not my fault, yes, it's not my fault. I only told him the truth about himself, he should be grateful." She said to herself, in a way not to feel guilty for spoiling her interview by herself. She tried to cheer herself up by telling herself that, the man was only being rude, while she, on the other hand was being honest and straight forward, which was a good value every company should look out for in an employee.

Daisy noticed that her phone had stopped playing the music she assigned it to. She frowned, wondering what put a stop to it.She kept the fork she was using to eat on the plate, got up and headed to the room where her phone was. By this time, she could hear her phone ringing. "Who dares disturb my peace this early afternoon." She said, in a loud voice. As she left the kitchen to the room to go check out the caller, she heard the doorbell ring. "Oh damn it." She whispers, under her breath and moves to the sitting room instead. "Hold on, hold on. I'll be right there. Please, the bell is just too loud, can you stop!" She yelled, hoping whoever was at the door would listen, but the reverse was the case. She got to the door, unlocked it forcefully and yanked it open. "Ohh! Stacy." She said excitedly, now reducing her voice and acting so gentle. Stacy walks past me into the sitting room and sits down. "Seriously, are you deaf now? Geez, like I literally sta

Daisy woke up that morning feeling excited and more relaxed than she was the previous day. She had the feeling that she was going to get this job and she has never felt this way before. She had to remind herself that she was only going to submit her job application letter and get information on when she would return for the interview, so she doesn't get disappointed if something bad happens, though she doesn't pray for that to. Stacy on the other hand left quite earlier than Daisy, as that was what her job warranted her to do daily. She wished her friend a successful job application and promised to give her a treat if she eventually gets the job as a means to support her. At exactly 8 o'clock that Wednesday morning, Daisy took her bag with her file containing all the necessary documents and dashed out of the house to start her day with another job hunt. The company was about twenty minutes drive from her house, so she waited to get a good can that she could use

CHAPTER FOUR

Daisy took the bold steps to walk into that office, as she could feel her legs trembling underneath her. It took a lot of energy to push the door open and she wondered why the door was that hard, perhaps, that was just her being nervous and anxious. She shivered as her first foot stepped into the office. Some part of her in a big way, wanted to turn around and run away as fast as she could and damn the consequences, forget about the pay, forget about the job, forget about the sweet rates. She had never felt this way before. She felt that it got scarier, the closer she went. The other part of her waved it off and convinced herself that the fear was only based on the rumour she might have heard in the past and not based on reality. She had to remind herself what she stood to have as a secretary of the CEO and what she could achieve with the title alone. So, with boldness, she walked into that office, shoulders raised up in utmost courage, face focused and ready to tear down any quest

She noticed that the room looked so untouched, which meant that her friend wasn't back.Daisy had returned home by some minutes past 6pm while the normal closing time was 4pm. Stacy should have been back by now, she thought. She had never missed coming home on time, except she travelled. Daisy searched for her phone at that moment and immediately she caught hold of it, she dialed the number. At the first ring, there was no answer. It was a really chilly evening, Mrs. Kute, also known as Rachel, hurried home to get the house in order so the wind doesn't affect her kitchen specifically. She had a loose covering at the top and tried to manage it as much as she could till she could take hold on some cash to give it the repairs it desperately needed. "Oh no, not again. Please, give me a little more time and I will get you fixed alright. I know I have promised you that a lot of times, but this time it is special." She mumbled audibly to no one in particular but to the ceiling like it had ears. She placed a chair and climbed on it, so her hands could get to where she wanted. She kept muttering words to herself and hissed lightly. Luckily, she was able to tame it and the wind also subsided a little bit, which made it very much fairer for her. She climbed down slowly and sat on the chair for a while. She complained to no one, soliloquizing. "How can I do this alone. I am really tired of all t

It was a bright Saturday morning. The birds chirped synchronically on the trees as the trees danced beautifully to the rhythm of the gentle breeze. "Finally, she wakes."Daisy smiled calmly still stretching her body. "Good Morning Stacy." She answered back, laying emphasis on the phrase. "I thought you wouldn't wake again.
