Chapter Fifty

“I know he wouldn’t. I will be greatly disappointed if he had. Did you give him his money as I directed?” “Yes, I did. And then he came back with more briefcases to double the money. As if the men he killed didn’t worth shit. And that bastard pointed a gun at me. When I told him we were attacked and you’ve gone missing. He offered to find you and the…um…the girl. He took Aaron with him. And let me tell you, that wasn't achieved willingly. We told him we would do our own search, but he didn't take that well. He was still pissed about how you treated him. The arsehole!” “So, only Aaron is with him?” “Yes. I called a group of mercenaries your dad used to use for missions like this, and they are tailing them secretly. Their mission was to get you and Aaron out safe. Or they don’t get paid. Their leader just called me that they were up north and about a six-hour drive to Appleberry. It’s going to be a literal bloodbath and I doubt Rufus cares much about getting you out alive.” “Aha, I

Chapter Fifty-one

Isabelle looked shell-shocked sitting beside Xavier after he told her what Cole had planned. She swallowed softly and gave her brother a side glance. “He wants to buy the Island?” She asked as soon as she got her voice back. Xavier nodded. “A gift to you,” Xavier replied. “You know there is no way we could ever get that kind of money on our own, everything I make goes to feeding the pack members, and when the human government eventually gets wind of the happenings here, we will then have the judicial right over the land.” “I quite understand the implication. I am just ...” “Stunned? I get it. Imagine how I felt when he told me. I had mixed feelings about using Alexander’s blood money. But he explained his grandfather willed some land with oil to him. So, I suppose it is not all blood money. Or maybe it is, considering his entire family had to die for it.” “What do you mean?” Isabelle asked, focusing her attention solely on her brother now. Trying to not dissect how strongly Col

Chapter Fifty-two

A few minutes later, when Isabelle saw the ship appear on the horizon, her heart lunged at the sight of Cole on the deck. She could see he had changed now and was wearing a camouflage uniform with another man beside him and they were both carrying massive guns. She swallowed softly, thinking the situation they were in just got real. She couldn’t see Hallec and guessed he must be the one steering the boat. “Alright everyone, listen up!” Xavier began, his deep voice carried through the grounds. And the two other alphas, Darrow and Wulfrun, came to stand with him. “There are supplies coming in that ship, I want it removed and taken to the pack store. The kitchen workers' volunteers are to take over from there. They are to prepare the food, and make sure everyone eats to their fill—” That bit of news delivered with a promise of nourishment got a loud round of applause which caused Xavier to run his hand over his face, shaking his head, and everyone laughed. Isabelle chuckled, glad th

Cole saw her leaving and probed her mind. “---And where do you think you are going, ma'am?” “Cole?!” “Yes,” Cole answered. She chuckled. “I haven’t gotten used to you doing that.” “It's pretty cool, isn’t it?” “The very best. Now, I can say dirty nothings to you without having to utter a word.” “Typical. I have suddenly gotten the psychic ability to speak with you privately without everyone hearing us, and all you can think of is to cock tease me with it?” He smiled when she giggled. “Oh, I intend to do more than cock tease you, Cole Miller.” “Wonderful. You do this when I’m supposed to be discussing important stuff with these scary-looking guys. I swear they would smell my arousal soon enough.” Isabelle busted out laughing as she started to jog. “They can’t do nothing, Xavier is beside you.” “I hate to break it to you, honey, but your brother reveled in making me sweat.” “Nah, I’m sensing the beginning of a brotherly bonding between you two.” “Hard pass. I’m not int

Chapter Fifty-four

When Isabelle have Amèlie’s cabin in sight, she automatically searched for the guards and found they were not there. She walked to the connecting bridge with her eyes darting about and ears pricked for sounds. She couldn’t smell blood and she thought that was good. Walking to the back of the cabin through the side wooden gate, she saw it was empty as well. When she was close enough to the back door, she perceived a strong smell of air freshener which she hadn’t scented anywhere in the house before and her heart picked up speed. Unnatural scents normally mess with their ability to discern smells, especially in the case of tracking a human or were. “Amèlie? Are you in there? Time to go! It’s decided, you are to accompany the children and your patients onboard the craft,” Isabelle called out. Then she thought she held a sob and then a low growl. She nodded to herself noting for certain now that something was up.. “I’m in the kitchen!” Amèlie replied and even though she tried to instil

Chapter Fifty-five

Isabelle being an alpha wolf was bigger and stronger than Lorelei who was a mere Omega. But she knew she couldn’t kill Lorelei. It would affect her brother greatly. And she tried to refrain from causing a mortal wound but it was hard. She had never liked Lorelei and the other woman was not pulling her punches. When Lorelei dug her claws into Isabelle’s side again, causing her to bleed more now. She grunted and grabbed her by the neck, lifting her up and off the ground. Lorelei struggled hard, her eyes were dark and feral now, but she was no match for Isabelle. Isabelle thought of how easy it would be to snap her neck but she contained her dislike. And because Isabelle was sympathetic and knew the other woman was merely blinded by jealousy, she tried then to make her see reason so as to save her somehow. “Xavier doesn’t want you, reject him, protect your dignity and savage your honor. It is all you have!” “No!” Lorelei grunted. “If you continue with this madness, there can only

Xavier let go of Lorelei and she fell like a ragged doll, slumping to the ground. Cole watched as she regressed to her human form, and shook violently on the ground. He frowned, knowing exactly what that meant. He had witnessed countless people draw their last breath and knew what that looked like. But unlike what he was familiar with after Lorelei's body went still, her skin immediately turned ashen. He swallowed. Xavier, still in his werewolf form, stood over her with his fist clenched by his sides, and then he bent forward, picked her up, and disappeared into the woods. “Did she just….” Cole said aloud just to be certain the woman had died as he witnessed. “Died? Yes,” Jason answered from afar. “I’m guessing she is an Omega?” He asked. Cole felt Isabelle nod against his chest and Cole voiced the reply, “Yes.” He wrapped his arms around Isabelle in reflex, imagining something like that happening to her if they had severed their connection as well. He couldn’t help holding her tig

“You are safe now, Amèlie. Trust me,” Cole reassured and she nodded again but this time her body shook as she began to cry. Isabelle took a helpless glance at Cole. But his eyes were trained on Amèlie. “It’s okay. You and your baby are safe,” Cole said in a low soothing voice. “She was going to make it look like I committed suicide. When she slit my wrist with her nails, all I could hear outside was silence. I thought I was going to die for sure with an innocent child who would never even have a chance to live. But then we both heard Isabelle and she grew so angry. For a moment back there, I thought she was going to do it anyway…”“She couldn’t have, that was why she went through so much trouble to plan her attack because, at the end of the day, she didn’t want to lose Xavier. And couldn’t risk him finding out.”“I figured that out, and I told her Xavier was going to find out. She told me she had covered her bases and he will never be certain it was her, and that Xavier will not hurt

“I never met her before today, but from what I heard, she seemed to have been walking about with a screw loose already. I’m just glad there is one less headache to deal with today. I’m sure you already deduced that Amèlie is the Pack’s doctor, she and her patients are going in one of the crafts as soon as they get here. So, that would give you the opportunity to meet everyone. And even if you end up not finding anyone that can give you definite info about your brother or your brother, I promise I will help you find him,” Cole replied, holding Jason's gaze. The other man paused for about a moment and then nodded. His eyes clouded with gratitude. “Thank you, man. And I am sorry I didn’t tell you all about it earlier,” he replied, Cole, shrugged. “If you had, I’m certain we would have found him by now,” Cole retorted. Jason sighed. “You are never going to let me live this down, are you?” Jason replied. “Not a chance in hell,” Cole replied, giving him a friendly pat on the back, an

Chapter Fifty-nine

Much later when Isabelle Cole and Jason came out of the room, they saw Xavier sitting by the kitchen island table cradling his head in his hands. Isabelle went to wrap her arms around his shoulders and gave him a gentle squeeze. “How is she?” He asked. His voice was even deeper than usual. “Sleepy and need to see you,” Isabelle replied as he turned in his chair. Xavier sighed. Isabelle gave him room to stand up and he offered a handshake to Cole and then Jason. “Thank you,” he said. “You are a great and noble man, Alpha Xavier. It is an honor to be of service to you,” Jason said.“Suck up,” Cole coughed into his folded elbow and Isabelle laughed. Jason chuckled and Xavier raised an arched eyebrow at Cole and he returned his scrutiny with an air of innocence. Isabelle went to wrap her arms around his middle. “What? There was something in my throat,” Cole said. “Thank you, Jason. I am only doing what anyone in my position would have done,’ Xavier replied. “I hope you never compa
