Chapter Eleven

Friday the thirteenth of October; six months earlier, it was no surprise that it had been raining heavily at that time of the year. Everyday came with an even heavier sequence of rainfall and thunderstorms. This particular day was no different . Light ray flashes of lightening thunderbolts had been seen traveling from North to South ranging from both the East and west. The rain had been trickling down the drainage pipes on the rooftops to hit hard on the interlocked floor at the St Monica catholic Cathedral at south west Bariga, Lagos. The cathedral was a long withed building of relatively tall heights . it covered several vast acres of the land and was mostly found to be silent especially on days like this where the roads had been flooded In the city.  On this day , two men had decided to use the serenity of this building to their advantage and chose to meet discreetly by 8:00pm at the cathedral. One of the men had been sitting on a bench originally from th

Chapter Twelve

It was 7pm already. Nena had been driving for an hour nonstop now until she finally met with the regular Lagos traffic. She was disappointed although not surprised. She had lived in the city all her life and had been accustomed to their age old traffic. She had actually wanted to arrive home with the dinner she picked up from a Mc Donald restaurant outlet in the city. She was headed to Dani’s place and wanted to spend another romantic evening before she travelled back to Abuja the following day for the case on Lucile. She began reminiscing about the sex they had the previous night with Dani and was thinking she could re-create the whole scene again once she got home but there she was, stuck in the unpleasant Lagos traffic. She eventually got home, of course later than she expected but was only grateful that both she and her ride had made it home unscathed from the rough r road. She walked into the apartment and went up the stairs. She walked into the kitch

He was letting the food get cold again and she didn’t like that, she was about giving another loud shout out again when she heard footsteps rushing down the stairs. Dani had been jumping several step blocks to increase his pace as he raced down the stairs. Nena even saw him jump right above the last three step blocks and landed on his feet at the the dining. She had always known Dani to be the energetic athletic.“please, do not injure yourself. If you had been down on time like I warned you to, you wouldn’t have to pull all these stunts just to make it down to the dining” nena said.“ trust me

It was equally difficult to have noticed Nena walk into the airport with so many people and Dani as well who helped carry her luggage , walking behind her.Nena was moving in such a hurry, apparently she was just a few minutes away from missing her flight.“Do you really have to travel today hon?” Dani said as they stopped to process the cargo aboard“yes darling” Nena replied “ like I told you before, we have another court hearing two days from now. Hopefully, a verdict would be given then and I would be done with this case finally” Dani’s face turned pale , a trick to mislead his spouse to think that he would be missing her dearly. “oh don’t be like that dani, I won’t be long this ti

Chapter Sixteen.. let's talk about it

The thoughts of how far this case had come kept moving back and forth in Lucile’s head. A voice kept screaming in her head. 'What have I done. this is an action you should have taken years ago. Not now' The voice kept on speaking. But I did feel him inside me. he had no right to do that. I never remembered giving him consent or a go ahead. Or did I? She was stuck in a state of delirium as she dwelled in her trance for a while until she was woken by the vibrations from her phone which had been ringing out loud for a while now , but obviously not loud enough to wake her from the trance in one ring. She reached for her phone and saw that her father had been calling , dropped about 4 missed calls already. She called back to know the reason for his previous calls she had missed. Apparently, the old man had been knocking on her room door and Lucile hadn’t been responding. She had her air pods on. She knew her fat

The flight was only permitted to leave the airport because it was a local one that could take no longer than an hour at most, to complete.Nena stared out the window at the clouds as the plane managed it’s way out of a series of very violent turbulences. The experience had been terrifying, although this wasn’t her first time experiencing such a turbulent flight but something about this one left her very jittered as she remembered that she had so much to live for and this was not the right time to die in a plane crash. The flight had become stable for a while now and rays of sunshine were seen to be rising , tendering it’s reflections on the surface of the plane’s windows. She stared at the beauty and aesthetics of nat

The raid. It had never been easy going on a raid in the city with officer Ola. Jasper always found it difficult to accommodate Ola’s brandish nature and claim for authority whenever they went out on such raids. He hated the fact that they had even made him team leader on the field and more so , he hated the regular Lagos traffic and being stuffed in the van as they drove through it all. The van was a white 2010 dodge sprinter. It had the ability to run from zero to a hundred and 80kilomeeters an hour in just 4800 seconds but this swift moving ability was of course hindered by the heavy traffic the vehicle commuted through.  The van had a conducive capacity but for some reason, the operation had decided to assign way too many agents for the raid and now it was congested, making it hard to move or breathe. it had made the drive a very difficult and uncomfortable one for Jasper who had kept on staring at Ola furiously. Ola had noticed the at
