6: 15 am in the morning, the Murtala mohammed airport had been stack full of people already, as usual. it was usually difficult to meet up with any morning flights that went later than that time. It was equally difficult to have noticed Nena walk into the airport with so many people and Dani as well who helped carry her luggage , walking behind her.
Nena was moving in such a hurry, apparently she was just a few minutes away from missing her flight.
“Do you really have to travel today hon?” Dani said as they stopped to process the cargo aboard
“yes darling” Nena replied “ like I told you before, we have another court hearing two days from now. Hopefully, a verdict would be given then and I would be done with this case finally”
Dani’s face turned pale , a trick to mislead his spouse to think that he would be missing her dearly.
“oh don’t be like that dani, I won’t be long this ti
The thoughts of how far this case had come kept moving back and forth in Lucile’s head.A voice kept screaming in her head. 'What have I done. this is an action you should have taken years ago. Not now'The voice kept on speaking. But I did feel him inside me. he had no right to do that. I never remembered giving him consent or a go ahead. Or did I?She was stuck in a state of delirium as she dwelled in her trance for a while until she was woken by the vibrations from her phone which had been ringing out loud for a while now , but obviously not loud enough to wake her from the trance in one ring. She reached for her phone and saw that her father had been calling , dropped about 4 missed calls already. She called back to know the reason for his previous calls she had missed. Apparently, the old man had been knocking on her room door and Lucile hadn’t been responding. She had her air pods on. She knew her fat
Flight 24 of the virgin Atlantic airlines now flew at an altitude of 356meters above sea level on route to it’s destination – Abuja. The weather had been associated with storms and a very cloudy atmosphere. The flight was only permitted to leave the airport because it was a local one that could take no longer than an hour at most, to complete.Nena stared out the window at the clouds as the plane managed it’s way out of a series of very violent turbulences. The experience had been terrifying, although this wasn’t her first time experiencing such a turbulent flight but something about this one left her very jittered as she remembered that she had so much to live for and this was not the right time to die in a plane crash. The flight had become stable for a while now and rays of sunshine were seen to be rising , tendering it’s reflections on the surface of the plane’s windows. She stared at the beauty and aesthetics of nat
Back home in Lagos, Maestro was fully busy at the warehouse. He had a lot of work to do in catching up on all the lost time that Nena’s unanticipated presence had cost him when she was around. He reckoned he had to handle the Nadia situation more closely as well as be more prudent with his future actions since he was now on a close leash from the NDLEA’s RICO investigation. He had driven straight to the warehouse and was welcomed by a series of questions and bad news from zeke – his loyal assistant“good morning boss. We have been expecting you since yesterday boss“I know” maestro replied “what’s the development“we had a situation this morning. One of our boys on the twenty first street downtown in Ikeja, was gunned down.“what ? who? “ maestro asked furiousl“it was. It … was” zeke stuttered with the respons“who zeke! Who!”
The board room of the NDLEA Is located in the upper East end of the last floor of the 20 feet building. Officer Jasper had just been summoned in there by the very stern faced Director Gambo.Jasper was panting after running all the way from his office to see why the director was calling. There had been serious speculations about when the next raid on the said location jasper presented in the last board meeting.Director Gambo had been waiting patiently for the a date on when the raid would be finally organised“I don’t understand why it is taking much time Jasper” the detective began as soon as Jasper stepped into the room. “how long would it take for you to assign units on that location where they traced the SUV to”“sir” jasper began to reply with a face that gave out a countenance of confusion. “ I thought it was ola’s job to send units there since you made him head of the execution team from
The raid. It had never been easy going on a raid in the city with officer Ola. Jasper always found it difficult to accommodate Ola’s brandish nature and claim for authority whenever they went out on such raids. He hated the fact that they had even made him team leader on the field and more so , he hated the regular Lagos traffic and being stuffed in the van as they drove through it all. The van was a white 2010 dodge sprinter. It had the ability to run from zero to a hundred and 80kilomeeters an hour in just 4800 seconds but this swift moving ability was of course hindered by the heavy traffic the vehicle commuted through. The van had a conducive capacity but for some reason, the operation had decided to assign way too many agents for the raid and now it was congested, making it hard to move or breathe. it had made the drive a very difficult and uncomfortable one for Jasper who had kept on staring at Ola furiously. Ola had noticed the at
Alone in his cubicle and the production warehouse, maestro was looking frantically at the flash drive he had in his possession. He had just requested his pc from zeke a few moments ago and as requested, it was brought to his office desk.He opened the laptop computer and powered it up, observing patiently as the windows presentation worked it’s to the desktop background on the screen. He quickly inserted the drive and tried to open it up. A pop up notification came on requesting for the four digit password code. at this point, maestro was disappointed but although not surprised. He had expected some sort of security protocol on classified information for a criminal investigation. He tried a few alpha – numeric entries and they didn’t seem to work. He decided he shouldn’t try anymore before he crashes the drive permanently. He had a few ideas about people who could easily bypass the password authentication through the use of brute force technology.
Located on the ground floor of the garage floor , the underground vault was placed at the far east end of the building , left to be controlled by a circuit board that was placed on the wall. The staff lady with the wrench who had been working over there earlier when the NDLEA agents were around, now returned to her post but this time, strangely she wasn’t there to work as ususal. She dropped her wrench on the vehicle that was parked in the corner and went straight the aesthetic looking circuit board that was placed on the wall. . she reached there and began smiling to herself as she thought of the ludicrous explanation she had given to the agent who asked her what the circuit board was exactly functioning for.‘OBD stabilizer my ass she thought to herself as the length of her grew wider. She reached for her pockets and brought out a walking talkie and began speaking to it. “this is fox five at garage station 2. All ready to open vault. Aw
Nena entered her bathroom in a rush, not wanting to leave another moment to be wasted worrying about her situation on the hotel bed. She had been laying there for the past hour since she checked in . she had been too exhausted from the trip and more so, disturbed about misplacing her flash drive and all the documents it contained. She feels she had been distracted . she feels she had been careless.. sometimes Nena gets to forget that she is only just human. She tries to take the whole world on her bare hands. She had felt that she needed a shower now and laying on the bed with these thoughts weren’t helping at all. She walked into the bath tub in the bathroom and stepped into it fully immersing herself in the pool of cold water it contained. She dipped her whole self in it for a couple of minutes then raised her head slowly to rest on the ceramic framed bars of the tub. She left her eyes closed as she let herself dive into a little trance to distract
