Kate POV             I was exhausted.  We had three rogue attacks in the past three weeks.  We had minimal casualties thanks to our aggressive training regimen.  However, we were also cautious.  The number of rogues coming to break through our barriers were increasing.  We had stopped them just as they crossed, a couple escaped our warriors by not crossing the border as they saw what was happening to the other rogue wolves.  those we caught were destroyed.             With the exception of one rogue per group – we kept them for interrogation.  This had always been our strategy, to learn what we could from the captured rogue.  It often included torture as they were quite committed to their missions.  After three rogues were captured during various attacks, interrogated, and destroyed we were no further ahead in under

Drake POV             I admit I had been surprised to hear from Alpha Jackson.  It had been a few weeks with silence.  I was starting to doubt my abilities to attract him to our alliance offer.  I had a problem to fix – expanding the scope of our alliances and I was struggling to make traction with our priority Pack – Golden Moon.            There were no rumours through the grapevine, so to speak, to give an indication why he would call now.  He called a couple of days ago, and I was lying in bed pondering whether Kate would be attending the meeting.            Feeling an arm snake across my chest, I look at Elise who is just waking in my bed.  She is a blond-haired, blue-eyed beauty I had met a couple years before.  We had recently started d

Drake POV             As I process the conversation around me, I am concerned that the Golden Moon Pack has suffered three attacks and they still have no idea what has motivated the attacks.  There had been no warning at our end that Golden Moon was on the radar of rogues.             This was an elite Pack used to protecting their own.  Clearly, they had not needed support from their alliance to manage the attacks so far.  But they did need to know why so they could shut down future attacks.            I was not surprised with Kate’s suspicions around the timing of our alliance discussions.  Yet it still bothered me she would make those assumptions.  In her place, I would likely make them myself, but it bothered me on some level I could not yet identify.          &

Kate POV             “He’s coming for you Kate, just you wait, he’s coming for you!” runs through my head as I finish my training with Reid and John, a week later.  With the rogue attacks we had increased our training time to two hours a day versus our usual one hour.  We wanted to be prepared for any future attacks and that preparation came from training for all scenarios. Drake had returned a couple days after the original interrogation; however, we were unsuccessful in acquiring any new information.  It seemed the rogue understood he had said too much and had pulled back significantly.   Somehow there was pressure on him coming from somewhere – perhaps his own conscience – it is hard to tell.We had decided to keep him alive for now.  With his first night in captivity, we had learned a lot and thought there may
