Chapter 61

The decision for Skoll to become a hunter was an easy one to make. None of the other jobs he had a chance to accept felt right for him. Instead of learning a new and useless skill, he decided to stick to what he is already good at. When presented with the idea of this job, they framed it as being a duty to help keep the peace between magical creatures and humans. Humans have little to no capability to use magic in this realm and are thus helpless. Of course, Skoll isn't doing this to help the humans, rather, the idea of fighting amuses him. When a magical creature is deemed a threat to humanity, they send hunters after them to eliminate the threat. However, the main thing Skoll is concerned about is all of the training and studying. Learning about new creatures and their weak points is crucial to this line of work. The varied influx of magical creatures in this realm pales in comparison to what they had in the land of Fura. It's almost like these creatures are dr

Chapter 62

Darkness surrounds Fenrir as he hears a voice call out to him. The voice is faint, but slowly get louder each time it calls his name. "Who are you." Fenrir asks the voice. No response is given as Fenrir looks around searching for the origin of the voice. Minutes pass before he hears it again. "Why do you keep trying to help others?" the voice asks. "That's not who you are. That's not what you really want to do. I can give you what you want, you just need to let me take control." "Who are you?" Fenrir asks again in a calmer voice. "You don't know me as well as you think you do."The voice laughs at him. "Try to deny it all you want. What you really desire is to feed the beast within you, to let me take over and fulfill your lust for human flesh." Fenrir is starting to understand what this thing is.  'Am I going insane? Is my subconscious really talking to me?'"I can hear you. Why are you trying to fight me? We both know what

Chapter 63

Skoll attends his first day of the Hunters class looking bored as the elf teacher explains how certain spells work. "For the new creatures that just arrived in this realm, I'm sure you have many questions. I'm sure you've noticed that you are able to speak and understand the native language here without having to learn it. This is thanks to the way the portals are designed to work. They aren't a natural phenomenon as some would like to believe." Skoll can hardly pay attention to the teacher's lectures as he would rather be out in the field hunting down monsters. 'Two weeks of this shit, then I have to complete the physical tests to determine my Hunter rank. I can't believe that some humans go to school for years just to learn how to do one job. They definitely have a better attention span than I do. I don't know why they would put themselves through hell like this for so long.'"The portals are thought to have been created by an ancient civilization who successfu

Chapter 64

Cloven stands up as Fenrir enters his office after disappearing yesterday. Cloven considers asking Fenrir where he has been, but decides to let him speak first. "I'm looking to create my own spatial dimension so I can start training again. I need to go all out, and I just can't do it here." Cloven taps his claws on his desk frustrated by Fenrir's response. He was hoping that Fenrir would explain where he had been, instead, he is asking him for help. "I guess I don't have the right to have an answer to what happened last night. I'm just wondering what brought this on? I thought your priority was bringing down the Elven government and creating our own. I know your sick of our species having to bend the knee to others." Fenrir can see that Cloven wants to keep talking, but he doesn't give him the chance. "We can't afford to do that just yet. If we tear them down, his long would it take to build back up? No, we need to do this slowly." "I thought y

Chapter 65

Lucia and the Elf have their disguises on as they reach the village to investigate the recent murders that keep taking place. According to the rumors that they have heard, bodies were found completely drained of blood. This means they are most likely dealing with a Vampire. However, Vampires aren't the only ones that drain their victims of blood. The most important clue are the two puncture marks that we're left on all the victim's necks. Those kind of wounds are only left by Vampires. As they enter the town on horseback, they can tell that this place has seen better days. There are wooden buildings that look like they haven't been maintained in years, and yet, it looks like people still live in them. Starving beggers are scattered throughout the village, they don't glance at the newcomers because they know they won't get any help. "It's not a pretty sight is it?" The Elf casually says. "The only thing we can do to ease their suffering is to ri

Chapter 66

Fenrir returns to the land of Fura to execute his plan. A dangerous plan that requires precise timing on both sides. It is thanks to the magic the elves had developed that will make it possible to pull off, a simple device infused with magic that is able to tell time, a crystal that the user wears on their wrist. 'Let's just hope that we got the math of the time dilation between the two realms right.' Fenrir thinks to himself as he heads towards Auron hoping that he hasn't caught wind of his original plan to leave. But first, he meets up with Hakan who is preparing to leave Fura with the rest of the wolves. Hakan is startled when he sees Fenrir and wonders if something had gone wrong. "What's the meaning of this? Why are you here?""Slight change of plans. Just hold off for now, and hand over the statue." Hakan narrows his eyes wondering what he is up to now. "After all of this planning, you want me to just stop? Do you realize the danger you have already

Chapter 67

Auron smiles at Fenrir when he senses no deceit in his voice. "I thought I would never see the day to hear those words. I must admit, you caught me by surprise. To think that you've come this far and forgive me for my past mistakes." "Of course, we all make mistakes. Just don't make me regret the actions I'm taking today. It's my fault that they are in the circumstance they find themselves in right now." Auron places his hand on Fenrir's head. "You're being too hard on yourself. You were only doing what you thought was right, and in hindsight, you were the one who saved them from me in the first place. So it's me who has to thank you in advance for adding more followers to my cause." Auron pauses for a moment thinking about how Fenrir managed to pull this feat off in the first place. Before he is able to ask him, Fenrir responds to him. "We don't have much time, the sooner you can help them the better." Fenrir places the statue in

Chapter 68

Several days ago, Lucia and the elf find a nearby cave after asking the hunters in the village if they have seen anything strange. According to them, they have heard strange sounds coming from this specific cave. "You might not like this, but we have to trap ourselves inside the cave with the vampire. We can't let it escape without destroying it." "Your right, I don't like that idea. First of all, we would be fighting it on its own turf, we would be at a disadvantage. Second, we don't know if the cave has other exits." The elf rolls his eyes knowing how inexperienced she is. She brings up valid points, but ignores the fact that it's early in the morning. The vampire wouldn't dare leave the cave unless it wanted to die from the sunlight. Unlike popular belief among humans, vampires can't turn themselves into bats. The chances of it escaping the cave are small, especially when you block the exits while it's sleeping. The elf blocks the cav

Chapter 69

Fear creeps in as the giant demon slowly makes its way through the portal. The disaster of the situation sets in as the elf realizes that there may be many more demons that will try to come through the portal. "Lucia, are you able to distract them so I have to figure out a way to close it?" "I'll try." Lucia manages to say with a bit of hesitation not being entirely sure she can do it. Thoughts run through her head about what would happen if they failed to stop them at this point. What would be the ramifications if the demons were to get past them? How much pain and suffering would they cause to this world? How many innocent people would die? "Anytime now Lucia." The elf says noticing her hesitation. "Don't think about it, just do what you can."After a few seconds, Lucia manages to regain her composer and use illusion magic to confuse the demon and the vampire. The elf quickly springs into action trying to figure out a way to close the portal. 'The

Chapter 70

Fenrir yelps in pain as Auron keeps his grasp on Fenrir's broken arm. With a quick twist and pull, Auron easily rips off his arm at the elbow. He stands there shocked for a moment as the pain becomes unbearable. A quick punch to the abdomen sends him flying against the wall almost knocking him unconscious. 'How long has it been?' Fenrir asks himself as he opens his eyes, his vision blurred but still trying to see what's in front of him. He can hear a faint voice, as it becomes more and more clear, he realizes that it's coming from right next to him. "You need to stay awake." Cloven says. "You didn't protect yourself with reinforcement magic, how careless could you be? You must have hit your head harder than I did." Cloven pours some of his magic into Fenrir to help his body heal from the injuries. "I don't need your help." Fenrir says with anger in his voice as he stands up slowly. Cloven gets offended by his comment, but he doesn't let it both
