Chapter 71

Fenrir finds the spot where he first met Sophia, he still remembers her scent so it won't be too hard for him to track her down. Something in the back of his mind still wonders why he is doing this, why he wants a different life from the one he fought so hard for. Perhaps he wants to become something new and fill that hole in his heart he had felt for so long. This new overwhelming feeling for once isn't driven by a lust for blood, rather, it is driven by the desire to love and be loved by someone. He had thought Lucia would have been the one for him, but Sophia was love at first sight. His guardian angel. For so long Fenrir had been the one protecting others, he had never once thought of anyone protecting him, especially a human. 'I thought I could accomplish anything if I had enough power to do so. In the end, I realized just how weak I am. If power means pushing everyone I care about out of my life, then I don't want any of it.' Everything that Fenrir had stri

Chapter 72

Several hours after the fight between Auton and the elves had begun, Cloven now stands in the middle of the council room after bringing all the wolves here from Fura. The dead remains of many elves scatter the floor, many of them scorched by the light magic Auron had used on them. In the center of the room stand the last two fighters, Auron and an elf, both of who look like they are at their limit. "Well, isn't this a surprise." Cloven speaks to them in a demeaning tone. "The great Auron is having trouble, who would have thought? I was worried that you would have beat these weaklings so easily, but I guess I was wrong.""Shut your trap you damn wolf. When I'm finished with him, you can be sure that you're next." Auron can barely stand at this point, his words mean nothing to Cloven who still stands confidently.A dying elf crawls up to Cloven and grabs his leg. "Please help me, I don't want to die. My wife and kids are waiting for me at..." Cloven stomps h

Chapter 73

"Cloven, what's happening here." One of the elves shouts, clearly terrified by what they are seeing. "Cloven, are you alright?" He asks when he doesn't answer his question. The elf shudders at his appearance, to him, it looks like this wolf has gone feral. The elf aims his spear at Cloven, just in case he attacks them. This is the first time they have seen a wolf act like this, his hands tremble at the sight of him. "Cloven, this is your last warning, we will attack if you don't stand down."Cloven lets out a low-pitched scream that seems to come from nothing but pure rage. His jaw snaps together with ferocity, his teeth clash against one another with enough force to break a man's arm. Cloven's magical ability is still affecting the elf behind him who is now holding the dagger against his throat again. Every fiber of his being is telling him to end his life, his conciseness is thrown into turmoil as he fights to stay alive. In the end, he is not able

Chapter 74

Several days have passed since Fenrir ordered Cloven to bring the rest of the wolves back to this world. In this time, Fenrir has been keeping tabs on Sophia by not letting her out of his sight. Even after what had happened to her father, and the fact that she might never forgive him, he still feels the need to protect her. She can hate him for the rest of her life, but that won't change how he feels about her. Needing something to protect has given him a new purpose in life, a single driving goal to keep him from hurting others. It's not that he hasn't had a goal to protect others before, but a human is a different matter. Taking the form of a wild wolf has kept his profile low, as well as sticking to the outskirts of the city where she lives nearby. After attending the funeral of her late father, it's been hard for her to cope without him. Every time she goes to the to pick up supplies, she doesn't look anyone in the eye and keeps her gaze at the ground.

Chapter 75

Instead of creating flames while training, Fenrir focuses on increasing his body temperature. There is no need to create combustion while training, especially while trying to keep a low profile. Of course, he and to do this all day and night, therefore, his magic needs to regenerate faster than he uses it. This also allows him to have full magic reserves in case there is a fight. The weeks had been uneventful up until now, but this day is different. Her father's death is making Sophia take chances she wouldn't normally have taken. Taking shortcuts down bad neighborhoods, and walking home through the woods in the middle of the night. While walking through the back alleys, two men had decided to rob her. They weren't waiting specifically for her since she wasn't wealthy, she had just been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Fenrir had considered helping her, but her life was not in danger and it would be odd for a wolf to come to the rescue. Af

Chapter 76

Cloven paces back and forth near his office desk before turning his attention back to Skoll. "The fact is that we need someone like Fenrir to stand up and handle this situation. If it's not going to be you, then you need to bring Fenrir back here so he can do his fucking job." Cloven slams his fist against the table. "You seem to know more about why he left than I do. Since you are our leader, you should be the one to bring him back here." Cloven gets angrier at Skoll the more he speaks."It would mean more coming from you. If I recall, you were always harsh on him, a little sympathy from you might be all he needs." Cloven tries to put the burden on Skoll. However, his words do resonate in Skoll's head. "I can't take time away from my desk, I need to be here if there's an emergency."Lucia puts her hand on Skoll's shoulder. "I think he's right. We need Fenrir, and you might be the only one who can bring him back." Skoll takes her hand off his shoulder and

Chapter 77

'The start of the new beginning is about to come to fruition, or as others might say the beginning of the end. It really depends on how you want to look at it. For me, I have my concerns about this endeavor. The undertaking of the century or millennium if this all works out in our favor. Only time will tell if things play out as a love story, or as a tragedy.' "Could you pay attention to where you are walking?" Girod snaps at Cloven. "You almost ran into me because you decided it was a good idea to write and walk at the same time."Cloven gives him a glaring eye and decides to ignore him so he can keep on writing. 'A hero of this world, or a vigilante that causes harm on the way to save it? That is a question I ask myself every day of those in the future that will remember Fenrir's name. The superfluous adaptation of transcendence that surrounds his aura exonerates his egotistical nature. However, many of these mindless minions won't be able to see that. They onl

Cloven doesn't want to back down from his position and Girod can see that. "If you want to do this violently then I have no choice but to stop you." Cloven isn't a strong fighter by any means, so taking on Girod and possibly Fala at the same time would result in him losing."Fine." Cloven decides this isn't worth it, not that he would have been able to win anyway. 'I'll just have to force her to do it later when I Girod isn't around. I don't like the idea of doing that, but what other choice do I have.' Cloven's obvious scheming poster should be easily noticed by anyone, especially when he rubs his hands together and giggles slightly. However, Girod is too busy apologizing to Fala to notice.Cloven doesn't waste any more time to pretend to walk away and hide until the right moment. After Girod is done apologizing to Fala for Cloven's actions, he realizes that Cloven is gone and asks Fala if he saw him leave. "I saw him head back to the city, that piece of

Chapter 79

Day by day, Sophia becomes more suspicious of Fenrir's behavior when he starts to act smarter than a normal dog should. She starts to separate herself from him, and Fenrir takes notice of this. He knows that this isn't like her, she had always wanted to be near him because she had a hard time getting over the death of her father. Sophia starts to suspect that the werewolf she saw that day is the dog that she had been so fond of these past weeks. She knew this was an unsupported claim, but she couldn't shake this feeling that it is him. Then, one day she couldn't take it anymore, she had to confront him no matter how insane she looked by interrogating a dog. She had to dispel all of her doubts about him if she wanted to get any sleep at night. Not wanting to beat around the bush, she walked straight up to him to ask. "I know who you are, you can stop playing dumb and reveal yourself." She doesn't get a response from Fenrir, who thinks he can dispel her suspicions. However, she doesn't

"You better not tell anyone about what happened." Fenrir raises his voice at Cloven as they walk out of the cabin. "In fact, we should burn this place to the ground."There is a sudden brustling in the bushes nearby. Fenrir and Cloven instantly turn to see what's making the noise. Fala walks out into the open, not looking very happy, Cloven takes a few steps back trying to hide behind Fenrir. "I finally found you, now come here so I can castrate you." Fala yells."That might not be a bad idea." Fenrir says as he turns his head to look at Cloven. "You are a bad influence on me." "Hey, leys not get any ideas here." Cloven says as he backs away. "I like my balls right where they are. Besides. I helped Fenrir get his motivation back." "Really!" Fala says sarcastically. "And how did you manage to do that?" Cloven looks at Fenrir who seems to be more scared of the truth coming out. "We had sex, and now we're in love." Cloven says, thinking that Fala wouldn't hurt Fenrir's lover. Fenrir a
