Chapter Fifty

Amante POV  “Oh, hey, you’re awake at last!”A cheerful voice of a man stirred me up on my slumber. I’ve just opened my eyes. The white conventional ceiling above me was unfamiliar as well as the warm welcome of the stranger beside me.I pushed myself up from the floral sofa bed I was lying in. The dizziness gradually diminished. There was a hint of subtle elegance at the simplicity of this apartment. Bright and welcoming, it consists of a living room with a sofa bed which has been mocked by my lengthy physique.  A few steps away was a fully equipped kitchenette with an attached bathroom. The door with a hinged photo frame of Niagara Falls seemed to be a bedroom. A livable veranda furnished with table, chairs and built-in bench with cushions were ideal for outdoor lunches and dinners. The mountain view has the promise of serene relaxation and suitable for people to spend pleasant day

Chapter Fifty-One

Amante POV     The so-called Sergeant Luis Ray Lopez and his wife blown me away with their tacky costumes. Wearing expensive custom-made tailor suit and gown doesn’t give them the “wealthy-look” they had hoped for. Those tight fits destroyed fashion in the whole sense of it. Their ugly faces were emphasized even more, and that’s horrendous. I was disturbed by their terrible appearances that I almost changed my mind of tagging along with them. None wouldn’t be embarrassed to be seen with them. But it was inevitable. This was my only chance to get nearer my mate again. It would be a lucky opportunity for me to meet Allyssa, and most probably Amaltheo, at the party, where we were headed to. Three days ago, I have heard the human talked about the invitation he received from Lausanne Clan, the infamous family of my mate Allyssa. I have gotten an idea from the Andrew’s tell-tales about the bounties of the family, b

Chapter Fifty-Two

Amante POV   The grand feast was held on a secluded island owned by the wealthiest family in Leverland. It was named Lausanne Island and called Oracle Island by some. The place speaks for itself. All nooks and corners were covered with extravagance.“Outstanding! Look at that fountain. Its gold plated!”“Even the pots were jeweled. A piece of it would sell for thousands of dollars!”I heard those from people around me. About two hundred guests were gathered in front of a gigantic golden door. We were surrounded by sophistication and elegance outside the manor. I wonder how much more would it be inside. We had been waiting for half an hour now. Only the Lopez couple was familiar to me. Though they tried to introduce me to some people they knew, I kept my distance. I stood by the corner, observing quietly the ruckus around. The invitees were ecstatic. They have th

Chapter Fifty-Three

Amante POV   The lavish party was to celebrate the comeback of the future ruler of the house. The only heir, the daughter of Lausanne couple, was none other but Allyssa Lausanne. It was announced that her disappearance has to do with her preparations for the impending transfer of the crown as the matriarch of Lausanne clan. Of course, that’s a lie.She was with me, in Verte Monde, where she was treated as a mere prisoner. I thought she was weak because of her calm behavior during her stay. The way these people cheered for her proves the other way around. It’s foolishness on my part to mess with her.I stood idly by the far end corner of the room. Embarrassment of my despicable acts and inferiority complex on my now human bearing made me cower in the distance. From afar, I have the liberty to watch her without being seen. She marched elegantly towards the center of the room where h

Chapter Fifty-Four

Amante POV  The party was peaceful until a cue from the matriarch to start the buffet wreaked havoc when several attendees, guards, and servers transformed into beasts and devour the human guests. Awfully horrendous scene mocked the extravagant decorations in place. To top it all, I was here, cowered like a hunted prey under the elusive safety of a low-down table.Back in Verte Monde, I played as a worthless idler, not because I lack the courage to do or endure dangerous or unpleasant things, but as I wanted to believe, it was an ingenious strategy to conceal my wretched secret plan to lure the pack in a war or battle with the human beings. This was a different and more humiliating condition than before. I became a weakling, comes from the thought of having nothing but the weak physical body of a human who cannot face off a beast like that one salivating flyer above the table where Gizzelle was desperately trying to sq

Chapter Fifty-Five

Amante POV   The Aswang clan surprisingly welcomed me. Allyssa’s parents hosted me into a lavishguestroom for my stay. I could have just shrugged it off, should have, knowing Allyssawould not be happy about it. Now that the Lopez was a goner, I have their apartment allfor myself, for the time being, of course.I would guess. My confusion, being lost in this vast world, terrible past consigned tooblivion, future unforeseen, and heartbroken; it made me feel like a lone leaf that fell offfrom its rooted tree, swept away by the strong current of waters of a river called life.It was a mystery how Allyssa’s parents tend to my needs, behaving like they werehonored for me being here. They made sure all my necessities were satisfied beforeretiring to the master bedroom.Through the snippets

Chapter Fifty-Six

Amante POV   Humankind has long been fascinated by the events that happened in the past. Many have refused to believe that time spent was lost forever. There has beeninterest in learning about the past through history. Some people believe they can look back and even show others their long-lost,almost forgotten past. Other, older, methods have been lost in the mists oftime. Ancient civilizations had some different methods of scrying the past. One of these comes from the ancient Aswang and has been revived in recenttimes. The nekromanteion of the ancient Aswang involved scrying with mirrorsthat continued in generations. These attempts at scrying largely dispensedwith the ritual elements so beloved by the Aswang. The seer called Iris Meritis, the odd-looking gal before the party and theAswang, who fought off her kind to save me, created thi

Chapter Fifty-Seven

Amante POV   I was pulled back suddenly; the face haunting my guilty heart gradually fades away. That was the last moments of the past that I magically experienced thru the mysterious mirror until I was forced back, as if succumbed by an invisible vacuum. It was painful and nerve-wreaking. I found myself back inside the dark, tiny room, breathing with short, quick breaths from both the physical and mental vigorous attempt to sneak a peek beyond time. The mirror was stained with slowly dissipating fog. It was dark once again after a moment. I was left, alone and confused, unable to comprehend everything that transpired just a moment ago.I felt weakened, shaken, and depleted. It took more than a moment to hold upon my sanity. It was a rough turn of events. The “tracing back the past to understand the present and foretell the future” was a t

Chapter Fifty-Eight

Amante POV    “She must be in the garden, Master Amante.”The servant ushered me at the end of the hallway leading to the door outside, where she claimed Allyssa might be. I have been looking for her since she romped her way out of the room, agitated obviously by my foolish reaction.Well, what should my reaction be?I was stupefied, petrified even, of all the things her family had shown me. She does not know how baffled I was.I have to find her. One thing’s clear in my mind right now. She was my destined mate. We were bound by the Moon Goddess. Our fate has been decided and we shall abide. She might have rejected me as her mate, but I never accepted it yet. It was invalid. And I intend to forgive her, I meant, her to forgive and take me back.My supernatural sense of sme

She was the only unhappy entity about that. She called me names for the first time. Not that I do not deserve it. Traitor. I really was a traitor, before. But I have learned my lessons the hard way, have I not?I was full of remorse, lost everything I could ever wish for, and on the verge of killing myself if my spirit wolf had not come back. I almost ended up murdering the one and only seer of her family, Iris Meritis, as she preferred to be called.I was told that I snapped badly at that time.
