Chapter Sixty

Amante POV   It took two days and a night to reach the island the Lausanne had me banished into. It was a rough sail with a rude Aswang as the captain of a squeaking rust, Dufor 29 sailboat. He made sure my journey was nothing but adventurous. We were met by waves with the size of a mature birch tree. The boat was consecutively being tossed around like a dirt bag in a raging water of a riverbed. He had chuckled maniacally all throughout the menacing waves and blurted it was that fish-of-a-gun rival of mine that was responsible for our tricky trip. This said competition must be anything but a fair game. I was sent by myself, though Amaltheo, as a part of me, draw back inside his sheltered abode inside my mind. That limbless cold-blooded vertebrate animal with gills and fins and living wholly in water, called Tarif or whatever, has its own way of coming into the island. It was so obvious

Chapter Sixty-One

Amante POV  Something dreary about the mysterious tree made me pause because of the uncertainty of my condition and fear in my mind. It’s that kind of difficulty or impossibility to understand, explain, or even identify a certain phenomenon or a thing that happens, especially one of great importance.I only took a step inside the trunk of the tree, and I already know I ended somewhere in a different realm. The surroundings were pitch black. There does not seem to have a sky, for I saw nothing but darkness, no moon, or stars, not even clouds. It seemed like an endless vast of blackness. Only the tiny, faint light coming from the little fireflies lends a source of brightness to the place. The smell of tobacco polluted the atmosphere, like it was the very air I breathe. There were extremely large trees that seemed outlined in perfect angles with enormous branches hanging out and formed like big open summer umbrellas

Chapter Sixty-Two

Amante POV    The first mission was a tremendous success. I gained the santelmo, gifted to me by Banyan, a Kapre, my new friend.“You did well in there!”It was Amaltheo, my spirit wolf, applauding our first success. I could imagine him with the grotesque but lively grin on his astral wolf’s face. It has been long since we achieved something immensely satisfying. A good feeling, indeed!“Congratulations to you as well. Where did you learn those jokes, anyway?”“Allyssa. You should have heard her tell a tale. I could vouch for her being the best storyteller there is!”I could feel his enthusiasm, the excitement in his voice was resounding inside my chest. And I felt a bit of jealousy about that. He was able to experience genuine happiness with our mate, Allyss

Chapter Sixty-Three

Amante POV    It was carelessness on my part to mistake those footsteps as Kapre on guards. The sounds were lightweights and shorts which differed from the heavy and wide foot of the giants of the dark.Their smell reeks of tobacco with hints of a burned hair that was too intense for my over sensitive sense of smell. I could feel their presence, as near as I could possibly comprehend, though they were invisible in my eyes. The huffs, puffs, and ruffs were everywhere.I was surrounded!“Show yourselves!”I screamed at the top of my lungs, using the Alpha tone that has the power to shake a werewolf out of his wits and scamper on his way. Though I was not sure it would have the same effect on those invisible creatures, I HAVE NO CHOICE.It would be one hell of a fight to battle out an opponent face to face. I am n

Chapter Sixty-Four

Amante POV  Venomous rage worms its way stealthily in every vein of my body. It succumbed my whole being completely before I even realized its existence. It tasted very bitter to my tongue. I almost vomit at the intense odor it emits, and my ears were hurt and sore with its snarls and screams. It takes a thief to catch a thief, and a traitor hated being betrayed. That was what I felt when I noticed I almost had been played upon by some creature deemed to extinction.Tikbalang, as Banyan called them, tried to ambush my mission. I almost fell into their trap. That one who dared to copy Banyan’s physical appearance now lay on the ground with its head decapitated from its body. Gel-like gore splattered around when I trampled it furiously with my hefty and gigantic paws.As expected, there were sounds of neighs, snorts, even thumps of several hooves pounding the roughness of the forest grou

Chapter Sixty-Five

Amante POV  There were odd-looking creatures in front of me. I have an idea what they were, and although, there were several of them surrounding me, I felt threatened yet confident of my ability to fight them on a battle of strength. The sleep has me regained my energy and stamina. I felt empowered and ready to take the action upfront. There were about fifteen of them, Tikbalang, gaping at my sparkling wolf form. They do not have an intimidating physical appearance, rather, I mentally smirk at their oddity. They were an inch taller than my crouched body of a wolf. These bony humanoid creatures with the head and hooves of a horse, but has a naked torso of a well-built human, made an amused impression on my mind. They have disproportionately long limbs, to the point that their knees reach above their heads when they squat down. They were covered with a fluffy dark mane, while some of them have

Chapter Sixty-Six

Amante POV  “Our guest was exhausted and starving. It would not be a good fight if he failed to show his full potential because of that.”Everybody was all ears on her, and I found myself listening to her attentively as well, like a trained puppy.“Spit it Amante. It would not harm us to give her an earful. We, after all, are the stranger here.”Amaltheo whispered inside my mind.“You seemed to be more and more cautious and passive these days, Amaltheo. Have you forgotten what we are? Werewolf and the strongest one there is! Why should we bow our heads down on a female’s demands?”“What doesn’t kill you will only strengthen you, Amante! You should bear that in your mind.”He retreated into his own console, ignoring my shaken sentiment.“The bout shall take place tomorrow evening. For now, serve our guest t

Chapter Sixty-Seven

Amante POV  “Banyan’s been killed! Bundok Bato Tribe was under siege!”Those wretched words rang painfully inside my mind. I must know who dare to joke about such hideous news with me around. That was ridiculous! The Kapre that I know and befriended along the way may seem fun to be with because of their gentle demeanor. Yet, I could only imagine what those lengthy, muscled, and broad hands and feet as well as their gigantic feature might be capable when they turned vengeful and mad.The chaos around the village proved me wrong. Tikbalang, female and males alike, frantically dispersed and entered their houses. At first, I thought they were going to hide, cower inside their comforts, and wait for the nightmare to cease. It was a second mistake for my part. They emerged as swiftly as they disappeared with their unique weapons at hands. Some have axes, most have swords, and the

Chapter Sixty-Eight

Amante POV  The white stone given to me by Banyan as a gift was enchanted. I did not know that, and I was not even aware of how powerful it was.I had it almost disregarded once. You see, I was in my wolf’s form ever since I stepped my paws on the sand by the bay of this island. It was hard for me to hold on to such a tiny pebble. Good thing was Lyra magically attached it under the lush coat of my golden mane.It was too unfortunate the Kapre couple was murdered as quickly as that by the hands of his so-called friend.Betrayal. I was way too familiar with that word.Once, I betrayed the pack where I grew up with, Irati Nardus Pack. I did all that without remorse, not even tried to bat an eye, believed it was the best for me.Then, Detective Giovanni Andrews betrayed me. He went mad and attack my pack just when I have the crown on my head and the power on my palms. I thought that

Chapter Sixty-Nine

Amante POV  The water temperature was freezing over. I walk my way deeper and found the abyss- Hirudinea Annelida Kingdom at the bottom of precipitous trenches. The light I saw turned out to be anything but a lamp. It was just a stone, a huge and shiny diamond to be exact, bright and forlorn on top of what seemed to be a castle made from glassy snow rocks.Aside from that, nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. There were no sounds, and only faint lights that were coming from some bioluminescent animals were the evidence of life in this barren place. The castle itself looks like a spooky building, with no fishes swimming around. It was tranquil. No creatures around, or so I thought. I guess it’s my reality that I was not born under the water. My senses were dull and useless. I could not smell, hear, or feel anything but the coldness of the surroundings. At first, I thought
