Chapter L

The whirlwinds that were devastating the land were now replaced by what seemed like a depiction of the underworld, having a red ashen mist surrounding the whole place, nothing could be seen as it covered everything. Karilaya had created a barrier that blocked the whole thing from entering the cave. Though there was nothing that could be seen outside, she still remained in the opening of the den looking afar as she didn’t really feel like staying beside the captain. There was this pang inside her chest that kept nagging at her for not telling the man the reason for it all at the same time there was also a part of her that kept scolding her for the mistake and telling her that the man was only looking out for her.Though she had managed to smile a while ago she could still feel something wrong within the man, having remained quiet for the duration of their whole dinner. “My lady?” The captain’s

Chapter LI

‘We will find out in time’ those words kept repeating inside Karilaya’s mind and though the captain did not answer, she knew the man didn’t agree with her. Though the captain did not say it out loud, she could feel it as the subject was never brought up, even within the days that came. She knew she had made a mistake bringing up the thought of staying there. As the moment the captain saw the clear skies he suggested they move forward and continue to proceed of finding a way out to escape that place. That was why she remained silent as they began traversing the land, they moved through the thick and lush forest in haste. They took the chance to move as the weird weather had suddenly subsided, having a normal sunny that covered almost the entire land. They’ve been walking for quite some time now yet there hasn’t been a change in the skies which was quite odd for the storm lands.Karilaya staye

Chapter LII

A towering purple mist was already surrounding him, making it hard to see what was in front or behind him and it also felt like his eyes were burning from it. It was also getting harder to breathe as he could feel the smoke stinging every part of his chest. If he was not draconian, he was sure he’d be dead by now from all the poison that was inside him. He gripped his sword firmly since it was already covered in a mix of red and green sludge making it harder for him to cut. He never thought that scouting within these grounds would bring him pleasure, making his blood rush since almost all of the monsters were quite formidable, even the small, innocent-looking ones. A blessing that seems to have come at the right time. As of now the nest that he was in was the last dangerous place within that area, if it gets cleared out they would be able to sleep well tonight, needing only to worry about the changing weather. A lo

Chapter LIII

“Max! No, stay with me.” Karilaya tried shaking the man to wake him up but ended up falling on the water with him when his body finally gave in. The man was already in a deep state of sleep, his body began to turn cold, and his color started turning pale as the purplish venom could be seen continuing to crawl inside his veins. Not giving a second thought Karilaya quickly pulled the man out of the river, not having enough energy to use her magic after throwing several spells against the giant serpent, she was barely able to use her magic to move the man who weighed almost thrice her own. At that same moment, she felt a surge of magic within the air, forcing her to drag him to a nearby cave that she saw hidden near the waterfalls. She was forced to move faster along with also gathering their stuff with her magic all at once. After setting up her barrier and securing everything inside the cave, she was finally able to properly take a good look at the

Chapter LIV

Karilaya’s consciousness was woken up by the extreme heat and tension that her body was feeling, it felt like she was burning up from inside, her muscles tightening as she felt waves of pressure bombarded every part of her body. Her chest was rising up and down really fast as she felt herself gasping for air. It didn’t take long until all of her senses were fully awake, forcing her to finally open her eyes from her deep slumber. It was then and there that she finally understood where the feverish feeling was coming from. She could not help but let out a high-pitched whimper when she felt a sudden rush of bliss pierce straight into the inner core of her body. “Max!” She called him, her voice trembling and weak as she tried covering her chest when he saw his gaze at her. The man’s face was between her legs, his eyes were now glowing red as it had taken its dragon form. She felt His lips buried

Chapter LV

Was this the warm feeling of death or was it just a figment of her thought? Hearing the captain’s fleeting voice cooing her, all the while crying as if he was in deep sorrow. “What have I done, what have I done!” a deep, trembling, familiar voice pulled Karilaya’s senses. It was only then that she knew she had awakened from a dream, remembering that she was in that special little place where she would always see her mother. There, they would always laugh and play, and she would chase after her in those golden fields of tall grass. When they would finish strolling the land, she would lay down on her mother's lap, giggling as she would pat her hair while singing a lullaby. “Stay still little princess, don’t fight, don’t fret, for the guardians of light will bring you dread, so stay still little princess if you wish the guardians to be with you,” she could still remember that

Chapter LVI

Like a rabbit springing back and forth, the captain kept appearing and disappearing within the bushes during their travel. He’d be in the front looking around then ducking into the bushes and after a moment he’d be behind her, glaring at some unseen thing within the lush forest. It was amazingly another fine day, the sun was shining up high in the sky, birds and insects could be heard almost everywhere, and the crystal blue river that they were following flowed with fishes. She would have been at peace if not for the idea that they were now marching towards where the captain thinks is the way back to the kingdom. Up until now, she was unable to convince the man, making her more worried for their safety. She put her thoughts away when the captain jumped back to her side. “Max, what is wrong with you?” she teased him as he was unable to stop from looking around.“I am just making sure that everything is

Chapter LVII

“Are you sure you are all right?” Max was all over her the moment they had finally finish looking around the whole place. From summing things up they found out that it was a small village built with a stone wall surrounding it for defense, it had the same style, build, and architecture, having a mix of stone and wood, even though all the houses and structures were covered with vines, weeds they were all very much still intact and could still be able to provide shelter. “Yes, I am fine. I was just really surprised seeing something like this here.” Karilaya was finally able to calm her breathing. At first, she was afraid that they might see something that pertained to something unspeakable happening to the place, but when they were finally done looking all over the place, they knew that the people there had managed to flee before any disaster had happened. “Does your kingd

Chapter LVIII

Max brushed his fingers on the pole that was still very much solid, too nicely preserved for something that was covered in plants and being subjected to very turmoils of inconsistent weather. He turned his gaze around, the trees were quite less dense here and looked more familiar than before, though they were still quite large in size. There were also places that were too well flattened along with having a few slab stones that were properly and neatly placed along the ground. A lot of things did not make sense to him now, as long as he could remember the storm lands were said to be uninhabitable by normal people, so why was it that there was a place like that there. Besides that, he could not help the disturbing feeling that has been scratching inside of him because of the lack of large beast around them. He did see some corpses and some piles of bones but they were all stacked up together like they’ve been properly placed.&nbs

Chapter LIX

Karilaya closed her eyes, taking in deep breaths as she held her clothes tightly, making sure that they do not fall off as she walks back to where the captain was. After their dinner and cleaning up, she immediately decided to clean herself up in order to prepare for the night. Her brows quickly furrowed when she did not see Max near the makeshift bed nor within anywhere else in the hall. She felt her heart sank when she saw him sitting outside, enduring the strong and cold wind. Karilaya’s feet unconsciously started moving towards the man. Biting her lip as she could still feel her heart thumping at that moment. The man just sat there staring into the nothingness of the darkness outside, he did not even notice her up until she finally sat beside him, finally making him turn though he jolted a bit upon seeing her being so close. “Max, is everything all right?” She asks as she had no
