Chapter 50: Improvise

Warm air entered the room through the open window. The soft bed held her body in place. Her pink hair slightly swayed in front of her, itching her nose. Rose opened her eyes slowly, yet she didn’t. Her vision remained dark as if she was sleeping. What was this? She could feel only a little bit of her surroundings, but she couldn’t move her body as if it was numb. Rose struggled even more but it was to no success. Her body did not move an inch no matter how much she commanded it to. ‘Chains? Or some kind of locking spell?’ Rose thought. She couldn’t even speak or so much as make a peep. Only her brain was active. All of a sudden, she could see. She had opened her eyes. She raised from the bed and walked out the door. However, she was not in control of any of this. ‘What’s going on?’ Rose kept walking and walking

Chapter 51: Rescue Is Here!

Phillip was sitting laid back in his chair in his office. The orange sunlight of dusk from the window behind him casted a shadow of himself all the way to the door. He held a piece of paper in his hand, his mouth arced up into a smile. The bolded letters on the top translates to “MARRIAGE REGISTRATION FORM”. Phillip couldn’t stop smiling all the while he looked at the paper. He would sometimes spin around in his chair and giggle by himself like a crazed man. A maid entered his room with a tray in her hands. The tray had a kettle and two cups on it. The maid set down the two cups on his desk and poured tea in it. After the cups were full, the maid placed the kettle back onto the tray and stood beside the desk like a statue. Phillip paid no heed to it and picked up both the cups. One for himself and the other… “Here. Drink dear.” Phillip offered

Chapter 52: Demonic Fight

Several hours past sunset. Somewhere in the north-western forest of the Great Forest Of Cykoln. Footprints mushed into the wet soil that had just experienced some downpour. Marie, still in her maid uniform, walked through the forest. The tracks that could’ve possibly been left by her prey were already washed away by the rain. But there were still faint traces of astra left behind. It had been a few days, the traces were very thin. Marie followed it carefully, cautious that she might lose the trace. Before long, she came by a cave with wooden fences placed all around the entrance. What kind of creature could be living there? Marie shook her head. “Not that it matters.” She lifted her hand up and pointed her palm at the cave. A large amount of energy gathered into her palm and its size was growing by the second. “By any chance that you’re in there&hell

Chapter 53: Demonic Fight

Yuki closed her eyes and imagined her destination. Once she did, Tina teleported her. Upon casting, Yuki felt a suddenly strong pressure pressing onto her body. In shock, she fell to her knees and coughed. Her hands were shaking. “Did it work?” Yuki slowly opened her eyes and was met by a devastated forest. “What happened?” Just when she asked that, she heard clashes of metal nearby. It was then that she realised what she came here for. “Hang in there, Matthew.” Yuki got up to her feet and rushed over to where the sounds were coming from. Swords clashed with claws at an astonishing speed. Matthew and Marie, the demon, were slashing at each other relentlessly. Both of them had many cuts and wounds all over their bodies. She was actually amazed by the fact that Matthew was able to keep up with the demon. She quickly shook her head. ‘This is

Chapter 54: GIVE ME ANSWERS

Matthew’s body was weak after taking all the hits. His left arm was clearly broken, he couldn’t even move it. His neck was being held and choked by the demon. Matthew could see her smirk through the small slit of his eyelashes. It pained his heart if it were to end like this. He barely even got to see what this world had to offer. Over the past year, he had spent his time at the academy. He hasn't started his adventure yet. It was a pity. Before he knew it, he was suddenly thrown to the ground. The impact hurt his already aching body even more. He groaned in pain. With his blurry vision, he tried to trace back what Marie was doing. He saw Yuki firing a barrage of arrows at Marie, staggering her with every hit. It was amazing to see her. But it all became grim when Yuki ran out of arrows and almost as soon as she did, Marie stabbed her with her claws. Matthew’s e

Chapter 55: Beside The Bed Of Someone She Cares

Rose slowly lifted her head. Her face was as red as a strawberry. Her heart was racing since the moment she pretended to be asleep, on top of that, Matthew had been staring at her for a while. It made her nervous. She questioned herself. ‘Why did I pretend to sleep?’ She could have just greeted Matthew as soon as he woke up. However the thought of the words she was saying by herself and she did to him earlier made her embarrassed. A few minutes ago… Rose entered the ward after a nurse opened the door for her. She thanked the nurse and the nurse nodded before leaving. Rose watched Matthew who was sleeping on the bed. His arm and head was covered in bandages and his body had many bruises. Rose bit her lips, thinking about how bad his condition was. She walked over the right side of the bed that had a stool beside it and sat on it. She stared at Matthew’s fa

Chapter 56: Volume 1 Epilogue

“Alright, you may be discharged as of today,” said the nurse behind the counter as she returned a Hunter tag to its owner. “Thank you,” Matthew said while retrieving his tag. He turned around and walked towards Rose and Cecilia who were waiting by the benches. “Kinda costly I gotta say.” Matthew said. “How are you feeling Matthew?” Cecilia asked in a shy manner. “I’m good. Thanks for worrying about me. Are you okay?” Matthew asked back. Cecilia nodded and shook her head. “I don’t know. I don’t really remember what happened. Last thing I saw was Phillip and me. On a couch in his mansion and then… Nothing.” Matthew felt anger welling up inside him but he quickly suppressed it. He put on a smile. “At least you’re okay now.” Cecilia flushed and looked away.

Chapter 57: Volume 2; The Great Sandcastle, Prologue

In a castle in a far away land. The throne room. “Report,” said a figure of shadow that was standing in front of the throne. “Yes. The army under my command is well underway to have the number we require. However, this may still take a few months, maybe even a year. On that note, the demon clan still fights among each other and other races for power supremacy.” A large bulky figure gave its report. Its long tail swayed from side to side while its scales slightly reflected the fire light.. “Troublesome but not worth the effort. Next?” A tall slender female figure stepped up. Her wings were folded behind her and her hair was tied back in a ponytail. “That goes the same for my division. They are getting impatient and sometimes end up killing each other. However, I have it under my control.” “That’s good to hear. At least we

Chapter 58

“Welcome home, sir and misses!” Bowed the black haired maid upon the Hunters’ arrival. Matthew, Yuki, Cecilia and Rose all looked confused about the behaviour of the maid. Matthew turned to Gustav who was the one that brought them here today with a face saying, “what is the meaning of this?” without actually saying a word. Gustav chuckled seeing the Hunters’ confusion. “Lord Phillip was the single child of the Crane family. He does not have any more relatives aside from the siblings on his mother’s side and no children either. Therefore there was no one who is legal to inherit the possessions of the House. Except for one.” He explained and turned to Cecilia at the end. “Cecilia was already registered by Phillip as his wife, dreadfully. But on the other hand that means that Cecilia is the one and only person that can legally inherit the House of Crane’s pos

Chapter 59

Sunlight pierced between the leaves of the canopy of the forest. Mushy sounds popped as feet stepped into the squishy forest floor. The air was humid in the summer heat after a not so recent downpour. Sweat trickled down the necks of the Hunters. “Are we there yet~?” Cecilia asked in a tired manner. “Just a little bit more.” Matthew answered. “That's what you said last time. And the time before that.” She kept on whining. “That’s because it hasn’t even been five minutes between each time. We’re almost there, trust me. I already remember the route.” Matthew kept dredging forwards. Meanwhile Cecilia looked like she was about to stumble over her own foot. As tired as she was, Cecilia pushed herself to keep up with Matthew. ‘Maybe I should do more exercises,’ she thought. A few more min
