Honestly, wouldn't it be too anticlimactic to let him be found out this soon?

He had caused me so much pain in my past life, after all, so it was only manners to repay him in kind.

My mother-in-law quickly realized the consequences of holding a wake, and she started causing a ruckus again. "My son only wants to rest in peace, so you're not allowed to hold that damned wake for him!"

"Ma'am, don't worry about it." Tony's expression was stone cold, but there were tears in his eyes. "Joey wasn't only our captain… He was like a brother! We have to hold this wake so that everyone can remember his brave sacrifice!"

At that, the rest of the firefighters surrounded Joey in a tight circle.

"We'll be leaving with our captain, and no one can interfere!"

Without another word, they left the hospital with Joey in tow.

And so, the plan for him to fake his death was a bust, and my mother-in-law fainted on the spot.
