|GLORY|

A lady appeared before me, her eyes fixated on Sean who turned his attention away from me and faced her. I have never seen her before.

“Clara…” His eyes held a plea in them and I wondered who she was to him.

“How could you?!” She yelled at him, tears immediately spilling from her eyes.

Was she who I thought she was?

“I wanted to tell but not this way, I am sorry… Clara. Please listen to me.” He begged her but she stepped away from him.

“How could you do this to me? To us? And to her?” She asked, glaring at me in disbelief.

“Sean,” I reached for him. “Who is this?” I asked innocently but with the way his icy stare cut to me I knew I should keep quiet.

“She is just... She is just a younger sister to me. I don't —”

“Stop it!” She shunned him immediately. “Younger sister but she is wearing your wedding ring. How long do you think you could deceive me? You know what? It is over! Don't call me. Don't text me ever again!” She warned sternly before stomping away in anger.

I stood there, blinking hard as I replayed his words in my head. Younger sister… he saw me as his young sister and nothing else.

To my shock, he ran after her and that was when I knew my place with him.

That day, I returned back to my father’s place to take the little possessions I had. Then my father called for me, saying he wanted to discuss something with him.

“Yes, father?” I stepped into his office. I looked around, wondering the last time I entered his office freely. Oh, when my mother was still alive and that was then.

“You wanted to see me.” I reminded him again when he was not paying his attention to me.

He let out a deep sigh, pulling his glasses off and dropping on it whatever file he was working on. “Glory,” He started.

“I just want to tell you that the moment you got married to Sean, you no longer have a room in this house. You are no longer allowed to return to this house so make sure you are a good wife or else… I cannot be held responsible for you anymore.” He stated.

My brows creased with confusion. I no longer do what…?

“But Father—”

“You can leave.” He cut me off. I left his office, with my heart heavy in my chest. So he finally got rid of his useless daughter. I didn't mean anything to him anymore and he needed a way to get rid of me.

Sarah and Sophia watched me leave the house and I knew they would be celebrating their triumph the moment I left. The driver took me to Sean’s penthouse and I waited for Sean to return that night but he didn't.

I waited, and waited, watched the clock tick and rock but he didn't come. Then I saw the headlines.

USELESS DAUGHTER OF THE SCOTT FAMILY, GLORY SCOTT, FINALLY GETS MARRIED TO A FAMILY FRIEND AND BUSINESS MOGUL, SEAN KINGSTON!

Everyone was commenting about how lovely it was for me to get married to him and how he didn't think of my background, instead he fell for me. I knew who did this. They twisted the narrative so that when the press heard of his marriage, they would not criticize him.

But there was one thing that we had in common. Sean didn't see me as useless.

PRESENT

I no longer have a house to return to. Sean didn't need to know that, not like it would matter anyway.

“Home? Did you just home?” I asked him. “Sean, I—”

“Glory, don’t make this difficult. You know from the onset that I only saw you as my younger sister. I do not see you as anything beyond that and I had to endure these years that I spent with you because I didn't want to hurt you more but now... I am expecting a child from Clara.” He stopped me before I could go further.

I clamped my mouth shut, giving up.  Nothing would change even if I told him that I was carrying his kids. He picked up his suit and went upstairs to our room. He must have seen the decoration. That alone brought more tears to my eyes and a sob racked out of me.

He soon returned with a suitcase in one hand, without glancing at me, he walked out of the house, and I slid to the floor, crying hard.

How could he do this to me?

I felt a hand wrap around me, pulling me into a hug as I let myself weep out the pain in my chest.

“He wants a divorce,” I hiccuped. “He says that his ex-lover is pregnant and that I needed to move out. And also…”

“I know. I know. I heard everything.” She patted my hair as I cried on her shoulder, sitting down there on the floor with her.

I didn't know for how long I cried but I remembered picking up the bottle of wine and then dragging myself back to the room. I tore down the stupid decorations I had made with our pictures and trashed everything under my foot.

He didn't deserve my love. He didn't deserve me! I did everything for him. I stayed quiet because of him. I didn't want to ruin his reputation because of my background so I acted like a loving wife and now… he left me for his mistress.

I moved to bed, swallowing some wine content before picking up the surprise box at the center of the bed that was covered by balloons. He didn't see this when he came into the room.

I opened it myself and brought out the sonogram of my babies. That night, I drank and wept bitterly, before giving in the cold call to sleep with the sonogram held tightly to my chest.

I knew by instinct what the file was and with shaky hands, I collected it from her. So soon?“He sent it through a lawyer.
