Chapter 7

Anita, who was paying attention to their conversation, vaguely connected the dots, knowing that the only help she could provide would be her ability to handle a knife plus she felt that such a man like Andrew should have also noticed by now the malice Samantha kept poorly hidden directed towards her, which is why he was trying to separate the two.

Standing there watching, Andrew coldly suppressed Samantha with his narrowed eyes showing with his body his strong refusal to bring Samantha with them, while Samantha still tried to argue her case not because she cared for the hurt individual down below but because she didn't want her alpha and this human to spend more time together.

Andrew was holding back his impulse to grab Samantha by her neck and force her to submit; how dare someone like her question his decision? His words were law since the day he took over the Orion pack from his father; his eyes flashed while he tried to suppress his instincts. He didn't want to scare Anita off, especially when he still needed her help. Samantha was still trying to argue her case, not knowing the more she talked the more she disgusted Andrew. Her words that were not spoken with care caused Anita, who was listening at the side, to grab onto key phases and finally understand what happened.

It seemed like there was a gang war between Andrew's gang and another gang that was trying to take over their turf. She clearly heard Samantha saying pack, but she believed it was just a code word for gang because she was within listening range. So, in the process of the gunfight, Andrew's cousin was shot in the thigh, and they were unable to grasp the bullet to remove it. Every time they tried to grab the bullet, it would be pushed further into his muscle, making it difficult to grab onto, causing more damage to the wound with every inexperienced probe.

"Hold up. I think I know what is going on, and if we don't hurry, your cousin might bleed out and go into shock if he hasn't already," Anita said, putting a stop to the back and forth even though not a word came from Andrews's lips after his initial refusal.

Taking charge of the situation, knowing that if she didn't, Samantha would continue to obstruct them. Anita spoke firmly, "Samantha is right; I will need an assistant, so let us go now before anything else happens".

Walking into the waiting elevator, Andrew stood tensely, especially after hearing what Anita said; Samantha, on the other hand, was relaxed, sporting a smirk on her face in triumph that she got her way, not knowing she had drained the last bit of patience Andrew had for her. If they were too slow, Blake might have bled out before even receiving medical treatment due to Samantha's obstruction and not making it clear until this moment how serious Blake's injuries were.

As soon as the elevator came to a stop, Andrew hurriedly led Anita out, picking up the pace and causing Anita to stumble before righting herself as they rushed down the hallway. Being in the lead Andrew threw open the door, Anita right on his heels as she leaned her body to the side to see what was happening in front.

"No," she yelled, startling not only the two people who came in with her but also the 3 who stood around Blake, who was lying down on a stretcher.

"Do not give him any water, or you will worsen his situation," Anita spoke as she hurried to the patient trying to push aside the hulking figure in her way.

Andrew didn't understand why his cousin couldn't drink any water, but he knew Anita must know what she was talking about as she was once a very successful surgeon. "Move aside Rick," he ordered.

Rick refused to move aside, as he didn't know this strange woman and didn't want her so close to his vulnerable younger brother. "Sir, I refuse," he said, standing there like a bouncer, refusing to move as he protected his brother.

"Rick this is an order fucking move now, or your brother will die from blood loss, this lady here is a surgeon," Andrew spoke while rubbing his forehead, this cousin of his was always suspicious of everyone which was a good thing because it kept the pack safe, but at this moment it was just a hindrance.

Rick looked at Andrew with respect and trust, but when he turned his eyes to Anita, only doubt and suspicion reflected in his eyes. Listening to his boss who he knew never liked to repeat himself, he made way for Anita.

Anita started checking Blake's wound; as she spoke, "The reason why I stopped you from giving him the water was because he is losing too much blood, and if you give him water, you will only dilute the little blood that is left in his body which can lead to his death. What I need now is a blood bag and Intravenous fluids".

"What is an Intravenous fluid," said one of the goons. Usually, they can heal themselves pretty fast, so they rarely, if ever, frequent a human hospital; if it wasn't for the bullet stuck in Blake's thigh, then he would be completely healed after a night of good rest and food.

"I am talking about IV Fluid, he is severely dehydrated from the blood loss, so his blood pressure is dropping sharply, if the bleeding had already stopped I would not recommend giving him an IV as the clot that formed over the wound could burst causing him to continue to bleed heavily, but because he is still bleeding I need an IV on him stat with a blood bag. Luckily, the bullet didn't hit his femoral artery, or not even God could have saved him with the amount of time wasted to get here".

Everyone froze at her words, and only Andrew was able to keep his cool but barely. He added another strike against Samantha because of her obstruction and not being transparent they almost lost their comrade. Anita was a godsend because she was at the right place at the right time.

"Did you guys hear her? Go to the storage and get the supplies," he ordered, bringing his subordinates back to their senses. They usually didn't carry these sorts of supplies because of their extraordinary healing abilities, but recently, they have had an influx of humans coming to pick crops, and since they work with different types of equipment that could cause serious injury, Andrew signed off on buying these medical supplies just in case of an accident.

Seeing that everybody was back to their senses Anita called for Samantha "Find me some scissors, razor blade, bandage, gauze, alcohol, belt, forceps, needle and thread, a metal coat hanger or probe, and bring me some boiled water and towels quickly," she said as she applied pressure to Blake wound causing him to moan in pain, blood slowly seeping from his wound.

"Anita use my belt," Andrew said, removing his belt from around his waist before handing it to Anita.

"Help me, Andrew, lift his leg so I can apply a tourniquet above his wound," she said, removing her hands from his leaking wound to grab onto the belt handed to her by Andrew.

Andrew lifted Blake's leg causing another moan of pain to leak from his dry lips, as Anita applied a tourniquet. After applying the tourniquet Anita looked at Blake's face, noticing his drying lips.

"Andrew wet a paper towel with water and bring it to me," she said decisively.

Andrew immediately obeyed what she said at this moment. It wasn't about who was the Dom and who was the submissive, he wasn't a chauvinist who believed women were lesser just because they had a vagina instead of a penis. This wasn't the time to play around. His cousin's life had to be saved; until then, he would allow Anita to take full authority over the situation as she was the only one who knew what to do.

"Take the paper towel and place it on his lips, we can't give him water, but we can at least moisturize his tongue and lips until we can get the IV in him," she said looking around wondering where everybody was, what was taking them so long just to grab a few things.
