Chapter 8

"Miss. Wilson here are the supplies that you ask for," spoke Samantha who breathlessly emphasized her tiredness in her every action. Her arms at this time were loaded with supplies and instead of presenting them to Anita, she presented them instead to Andrew waiting for him to praise her. Andrew coldly nodded his head at her, disgusted with her melodrama because with her supernatural strength, it was impossible for her to be breathless and tired from this little bit of back and forth she had done so far.

"Finally now where are the other three," Anita said as she reached out for the supplies not caring about Samantha's attention-seeking behavior. 

Anita carried the prepared supplies in her arms as she walked to a table that was within arms reach of Blake. She smiled at Blake in reassurance letting him know without words that everything was going to be ok, after she turned to stare at Andrew with a frown on her face and impatience written in her expressive eyes.

Reaching into his back pocket at Anita's stare Andrew pulled out his phone "I'll call them now to see where they are at, but they should be back soon”.

<Ring Ring>

From a distance, they heard the ring tone of a phone drawing nearer and nearer than a shout "We are on our way," yelled Rick who was running carefully with the rest of the supplies in his hands, slowing down his speed so he wouldn't spill anything which would cause him to look for these supplies again.

Arriving in front of the operating table Rick took note of where the other medical supplies were so he placed his supplies on the table too. The two other goons soon came running from opposite sides of the large basement, one of them even held an IV stand that Anita forgot to ask for.

"It's a good thing that you guys remembered to bring the IV stand," she spoke while rearranging the supplies in order.

Anita called Samantha to her side who was still trying to get Andrew's attention "Samantha familiarize yourself where everything is placed on the table,  while I insert the transfusion and IV into Blake". 

Samantha gritted her teeth feeling irritated with Anita's commanding tone, but Andrew was still there, so she suppressed her irritation and gave the supplies on the table a courtesy look.

Anita immediately got to work, she felt the inside of Blake's forearm trying to find a strong pulse to insert one of the two IVs, not getting a read on his pulse she decided to check his hands instead, and after carefully prodding she finally found a strong vein in his left and right hand. Anita skillfully inserted the blood transfusion IV into his left hand noticing as she did so how thick and tough his skin was, she was almost afraid the needle wouldn't penetrate his skin. After inserting the needle she hooked it onto the stand, she thought luckily Blake was delirious so he couldn't feel the pain coming from his hands, what she didn't know was even if he was sober all he would feel would be a slight pressure. Next, she inserted the saline IV solution in his other hand which was a mixture of; water, salt, and electrolytes. 

Adjusting the drip she called for Samantha to hand her the alcohol and gauze, but first, she demanded that Samantha wash her hands and then pour some alcohol onto her hands to sanitize it even further, as she did the same thing. They were not operating in a sanitized room so she was being extra careful to not introduce bacteria into Blake's wound.

“Samantha your hands are clean now so pass me the alcohol and gauze," Anita said, completely focused on Blake's wound, running through the simple operation process in her head which caused her not to pay attention to Samantha, as she held her hand out waiting for the alcohol.

Having a problem accepting Anita's order, because in general, she detest humans, especially this lowly human who was not even worthy enough to breathe the same air as her, let alone the same air as her Alpha. She hesitates for far too long causing Anita to speak sharply to her. "Samantha, if you can't follow a simple order to help me save Blake's life then get out of here," Anita snapped in annoyance, putting down her outstretched hand 

At Anita's words the 3 guys including Andrew looked coldly at Samantha in anger and impatience, how dare she not follow Anita's orders.

"If you can't handle a simple request Samantha then I suggest you pack your belongings and get out of my pack," Andrew spoke in anger, tired of this wolf that always tried to prance about in front of his face. He was not stupid he knew Samantha was interested in him, but he had made it clear on multiple occasions that he was not interested in her, and he would have already handled her if it wasn't for the fact that she did nothing outward towards him.

Samantha panicked, if she had to leave the pack she would never see Andrew again, and she would never have the chance to become Mrs. Cunningham, her plans were being ruined by this human.

"No sir, please I can do it just give me another chance," she pleaded as her eyes misted trying to look pitiable.

"This is your last chance, Samantha, don't make Anita repeat herself," He didn't give in because he felt sorry for her but because she was pack, but Samantha believed that Andrew had some feelings for her even just a little bit, because he kept giving her chances.

All this while Andrew was scolding Samantha, Anita had already grabbed the alcohol cleaning Blake's wound, she had no time to wait for Samantha to get over her ego. Anita knew exactly why Samantha was hesitating because she was also a woman who had feelings for Andrew.

"Anita, Samantha will continue to help you, without making you speak twice," Andrew spoke with confidence in his voice.

"No, you will take over for Samantha instead Andrew; go and clean your hands with soap and water then alcohol," Anita was dead serious with her order there was no way she was going to give Samantha a second chance especially because she had to focus and there was no way she could concentrate if she had to keep looking out for Samantha future tricks.

Samantha tried to protest while thinking how dare this human embarrass her in front of her alpha, Andrew had already forgiven her so she should too. 

Andrew and Anita paid her no attention. Rick, who was worried about his little brother's life, made an X against Samantha in his heart. How dare she hesitate while Anita was trying to save his younger brother's life, did she secretly want to kill his brother?

Anita disaffected the wound, and then called for Andrew to shave the surrounding hairs around Blake's wound. Disaffecting one more time she asked Andrew to pass her the coat hanger as they did not have an actual probe in their limited medical supplies. 

Anita disinfected the coat hanger after bending it straight so she could use the slender wire to locate where the bullet was lodged in Blake's wound, she found the bullet after a bit of probing, feeling confident she could retrieve the bullet without having to enlarge the wound, she turned to ask for the forceps. 

Grasping the forceps firmly she reached into Blake's wound causing him to stir at the painful intrusion, but with patience and experience, she was able to grab onto the bullet slowly pulling it out in one slow careful movement.

"Andrew grab some gauze to soak up the blood covering his wound, it's affecting my sight, move quickly as I need to stitch him up," Anita ordered.

Andrew did as ordered using the snow-white gauze to soak up the blood that was leaking from Blake's wound causing the gauze to quickly became dyed in crimson. 

No one in the room except for Samantha was disgusted by the sight of blood, they treated this surgery as a learning experience just in case they or someone in the pack's healing abilities was compromised. They may have supernatural abilities but if the wound is not healing quickly they still could bleed out. 

They believed that if a doctor wasn't around they would still be able to save their pack members from wounds that were taking too long to close. Andrew was even thinking two steps ahead. He knew Anita was a retired surgeon, so he was hoping to hire her to teach his subordinate some basic medical skills while forging a stronger bond with her.
