Willow landed on the cold hard ground of the basement with a thud after absorbing a punch to the face.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Rick asked.
The basement was filled with gym equipment and weapons that the members of the organization used to kill vampires. Rick and Willow occupied a corner, where he taught her self-defense and how to attack and kill a vampire. The rest of the basement was filled with others training to fight too.
"Why don't you try harder?" she spat.
That's right, don't hit him back. You deserve to take a beating.
She immediately leaped up and attacked him with the sparring knife to his chest.
"And you're dead," she said, out of breath.
He looked at her taken aback, before a small smile played on his face. Willow lowered the knife and picked up the towel from the side bench to wipe the sweat off of her face.
"I expect you to attend today's meeting," he said.
She stopped her mov
Five Months Later Willow walked down the empty street at night. The dark atmosphere and dimmed yellow light bulbs allowed very little vision ahead. She held her coat tightly with her gloved hands and wrapped her arms around herself as she quickened her pace, knowing that a vampire was following her. All that could be heard was the sound of her quick feet tapping against the concrete and the pounding of her heart. The vampire, too, quickened his pace. There was no need for him to chase the prey, but the thrill of the hunt excited him. The vampire smirked as he saw the human turn into a narrow alley. This should be easy, thought the predator while turning into the alley. He saw the human standing in the middle of the street. Having let go of the coat, she looked for something in the inside pocket. The hunger of the vampire overruled the thrill of the hunt. Without wasting any time he lunged forward to kil
After the rest of the meeting ended and everybody dispersed, Kairav and Willow went back into the room to give a report of their day's work, but before they could do that, Rick turned towards Willow. "I don't remember approving that plan of yours," he said, referring to her open declaration of killing the king. "Somebody has to do it," was the only explanation he was going to get from her. "I do not like to be blindsided in meetings, Willow," he reprimanded. "I know you have been to the palace and know its insides, but you might not be the best person for the job." Willow hadn't told the entire truth when she revealed how she had been to the palace. She told them that it was during one of her expeditions instead of revealing that she knew the king or that she was, in a way, married to him. "I'm tired of you underestimating me," she deadpanned. "He's mine. If someone's going to kill him, it's going to be me." "How do you plan on finding
Ava walked down the hallways of the palace while her dress and the long sleeves almost swept the floor. Her bodyguard followed closely behind. She walked inside her room and shut the door, walking towards the window and looking out at the city that now stretched beyond its previous boundaries. It had been months since the king, her husband, left the kingdom; and months since she was sober. When she heard of the king's departure, she almost celebrated in front of the entire kingdom. She was finally free of the torture that was their marriage, free to leave at her own will; or at least that is what she had thought. He wasn't a bad person to her, but there was no love in the marriage. He had given her everything and would never say no to her for anything materialistic. But she was young and beautiful and craved the romance that they write about in love songs and poems. In the initial days of her husband's departure, she had asked to be relieved of her duties as a qu
Aurum stood in a house situated in the middle of the capital of the kingdom that now belonged to the witch, Flee, his wife. The house was in a busy area where it was always noisy. He was hiding her in plain sight. Flee closed the door once Aurum entered and then shut the windows and covered them with drapes."How is the house?" he asked. "Do you like everything?"She come closer to him and gave him a loving kiss on the cheek."It is more than I could have asked for."Aurum looked at his other half, the perfect partner, and the perfect partner incrime. He had been carefully orchestrating his plan for years and once he fell in love with Flee, he knew she would be the key to his plan. He caressed her cheek and pushed the stray strand behind her ear."It would have all worked out, but he is a problem," he whispered. "They believe in him, say he is not like his father."Flee placed her hands on his shoulders."They just need
Willow stepped out of the shower and wore the same black clothes that had become like a uniform to her. After drying her hair, she tied it into a high ponytail and left her room. She walked down the dark hallway. Only dim lamps were allowed in the building and those lamps were placed in all the rooms. The only well-lit area was the basement. The rest of the building remained in the darkness at night. Members of the organization had to rely on moonlight or had to memorize the floor plan and count their steps. Willow knew exactly where to go, and once she reached, she knocked on the door. "It's open," said the voice from inside. She twisted the doorknob and pushed it open to find Felicity sitting on the bed. Her room was identical to Willow's. Small with minimal furniture and an attached bathroom. "Willow!" Felicity immediately jumped out of bed and wrapped her arms around her for a quick hug. "I am so glad you're here." Willow cleared her throa
Ava walked down the hallways of the palace wearing a dark purple cloak and hood that obscured her face. Although Rus walking behind her was a dead giveaway of her identity. The light of the palace had been dimmed and only fire torches lit up the hallways."At least cover your face!" she whisper-yelled looking back at Rus.His shoulders sagged in defeat as he removed a handkerchief from his pocket and tied it around his face over the nose. The two discreetly walked with light steps until they reached the basement of the palace where there were no guards stationed outside."That's odd," Rus said. "There should've been two guards here. Maybe whatever they were guarding isn't here anymore. We're chasing a dead end.""If that's true then we have missed an opportunity," she said opening the metal door in the basement and stepping further down. "It is pitch black in here," she whispered looking at him. "Do you have a flashlight?""No, but..." he said sear
Willow and Luke stood in his apartment in front of the guest bedroom door in anticipation. She had performed the spell, however, given her lack of experience, she was nervous to open the door. "Do you want me to do it?" Luke asked. "No," she said firmly before twisting the knob. She pushed it open and they were greeted with the sight of a spare room that had junk stored in it. By the walls, they could tell that it was a wooden house. "Did you do it right?" he asked. "Maybe you messed up the spell." "I did not mess up the spell." She walked inside the room and Luke followed. The room was small with only a window on the left wall that did not have any curtains. There were boxes kept on one side, two tables on top of each other, cloth bags placed in the space between the tables, and a cupboard in another corner. Whoever turned this into a storage room was still organized with it. Willow closed the door through which they had enter
Wes had stayed in the neighboring kingdom for exactly two hours and twenty-three minutes even though the king was overly generous to him, Ava, and Rus, and offered them temporary shelter at the palace. "My daughter feels indebted to you for not marrying her," the king had laughingly said to him. "Yes, she might have been saddened by the broken engagement but she loves her freedom too much, and that stable boy." "And you are okay with it?" Wes asked as they walked into the gardens. "The stable boy?" the king replied quizzically. "I had disapproved of him for a long time but he is a nice young man. He would take better care of my daughter than you ever could." "I don't doubt that." They walked away from the square-cut bush with yellow flowers blooming from it and turned toward the palace. "So," the king paused to look at him, "what is it that you want from me?" "I need to urgently go to a place where I am not allowed to be. Can y
