Lovingly Jealous

Sarah decides to distant herself with Abby. Since the later was hired, the two become close friends. Sarah was a supportive staff to Debbie for seven years. As a matter of fact, Sarah became Debbie’s personal secretary for five years. Among the employees, Sarah kept work related confidentialities with Debbie. She knows her work ethics, her weaknesses and her family background. Yes they’re solid friends and Debbie has Sarah as her moral support especially in her professional aspirations. Both of them are married but Debbie lost her husband two years ago due to car accident. One annoying traits of her boss is that after her husband dies, Debbie’s personality has change. She was hard face; irritated and frequently exhausted. The friendly working environment was lost two years ago. Her staff finds her rude with occasion mood swings.

Jack, start working in the mall two years after Sarah. He witnessed the transition of the company and he’s aware of Debbie’s history. Like Sarah he knows why employees come and go. Most of them cannot handle Debbie.

One time Jack notice Sarah seems not happy. There is a dry feeling inside the office. When Abby is there Sarah pretend to be busy. She doesn’t communicate to Abby. She discuss about work related thing but barely talk with Abby like what they’ve use before. Abby felt that dryness but she doesn’t want to ask Sarah the reason behind it. So the two works just like normal.

It was a busy afternoon when Sarah mindlessly gave an unfinished project draft to Abby. That day Debbie needs the details from Abby but since it was not complete. Debbie got angry with Abby. Just to cover up the real reason of the flaws, she just told Debbie it was her fault.

Since Jack is bother about the incident between Debbie and Abby, he confronts Sarah if she has anything to do with the project draft. The later admit her mistake. ‘To be fair with Abby, tell me what’s really going on? Come on, you can’t hide to me. You seem despondent with Abby a week now. How you intend to keep this dryness with her? I’m afraid later on; this might cause trouble between the two of you. If I were you, I will fix this quick.

“Jack, I am jealous.” Sarah added. ‘We both know that there is something special, a bond that I can’t pin point exactly between Debbie and Abby.

‘Okay. Can you be more specific? To whom you were jealous? Wild guess, it’s more on Abby, right?’ Come on, speak up girl. Tell me your dirty secret. Jack teasingly winked his eyes.

‘Alright, yes it’s with Abby.’  Jack to Sarah; ‘I should know. You were jealous because last time, they’re sweet together. But we really don’t know the real score. It may mean nothing at all.’

‘Do have some sort of attraction to Abby? Jack winks. ‘Yeah, maybe.. Sarah sighs. ‘Abby knows you have a good family to be with. I’m sure she is considering these factors as to her friendship with you. I can sense that she knows her limitations and from the start Abby only is grateful to yours – for all the help you extend to her during her interview. So, what’s the problem, Sarah?’

“You are right in all of these. I like Abby. I don’t want her to be close to Debbie simply because she might get hurt in the process of maybe loving Debbie.”

Jack to Sarah, ‘Okay, if that’s your predicament. I will respect that. But, in the end we can still be happy for them.’ ‘Sarah, you’re one of the pillars of this organization. So please don’t let any personal issues get in the way. I don’t need to lecture you on that. You know it very well. We’ve gone a long way here.’
