4. The Surprise Encounter

last update Last Updated: 2024-11-13 23:14:06

When I looked at the time, it was around 11:45 p.m. The day of my anniversary has been nothing but one disappointing surprise after another. But tonight, it’s ending with a bang! The biggest surprising thing was yet to come. On my anniversary, I received a picture of a pregnancy test and a message that my husband's mistress was going to have his baby.

Olivia took the phone and read the text. “That whore! Don’t give her the satisfaction of responding. Don’t let her see you sweat. Deal with it on your own time! Wait until tomorrow, make her wait, and leave her wondering.

She was right. So I sat on the bed and removed my heels from my tired feet. 'What was I thinking? If he wants Susie, then he can have her! ' I burst into tears because I didn’t mean it. The mere thought of thinking about him with her broke me. I rocked back and forth, crying nonstop.

“Oh, Olivia, I don’t want to lose him. What should I do?”

“You are not going to let them get away with this! That’s what you are going to do.”

All kinds of questions raced through my head.

How long have those two been back together, right under my nose? I couldn't stop thinking about what I saw and how much it hurt. The more I thought and imagined Holland and Susie laughing about how he humiliated me tonight. I wasn’t going to give them that satisfaction. However, I wanted to run to him and take him away from there. But there was nothing I could do to stop him.

I broke down crying. It took everything for me to wait. So tonight, I openly devoted myself to weeping-deep, heart-wrenching sobs that begin to unleash on their own accord.

*****

Early that morning, I got up and got dressed. I hadn’t slept a wink, and I felt like I had cried out. Now, I was filled with pure anger and disgust.

I want my question answered. It’s time I go to the source myself! I drove for a long time to Susie's apartment, filming with anger.

Not acknowledging her text last night must have caught her off guard. When I showed up at six in the morning, I was pressing her doorbell nonstop.

That startled tramp woke up out of a deep sleep. She grabbed her robe. “Who in the world is at my door this morning?” she said in a groggy tone of voice.

“Alright, I’m coming. Who is it?” Susie wasn't sure she heard who was at her door correctly.

“Who is it again?”

“Amanza Halston.”

Her eyes popped fully open.  “No! It was Amanza Halston! She has the nerve to come here this morning.  What time is it? She wondered, trying to fix her hair and get the fog out of her brain.

It took her a second or two before she got the nerve to open her door as I laid on the doorbell. She finally opened the door, and I barged in right past Susie. As soon as I entered, I could see clear signs of Holland's presence. My heart sank. The smell of his cologne that I had brought him, and even his jacket and tie, was on the sofa.

"Excuse me! Don't you move another step! What do you think you are doing coming to my house this morning?”

“What did you think you did Yesterday when you ruined my yesterday? You sneaky, conniving wench! How did you know I would be there at Rochesters yeYesterday

“It's best if Yesterdayour husband!"

"I’m here, and I’m asking you!”

She said, "Yeah, yesterday is not only your day. We were also celebrating something special. You better wake up and smell the coffee. Holland only agreed to marry you because he was still at odds with me at the time, so he deliberately chose to marry you on the exact day I was born. Isn’t that special? He only married you on that day, hoping to make me jealous. ”

I was blown away but tried not to show it as I listened to her brag and talk.

“Now that I'm back, you must step out of this stolen relationship as quickly as possible. After all, it'll be good for our child to grow up in a loving environment with both their parents, " she said, showing me what was in her hand.

“Here is the pregnancy test, just in case you didn’t see the picture I sent to your text.”

I laughed in her face, and before I knew it,t I slapped he pregnancy test right out of her hand. “Get that out of my face! Holland was just the CEO of a start-up. You went through all this trouble for a married man. How pathetic! I never waste my time on second-hand trash. If you want, you can have it. Enjoy him.”

When I turned to walk toward the door to leave, Susie grabbed my arm hard and said with clenched teeth, “You'd better stick to your word.”

I had practiced women's self-defense for many years, effortlessly shaking her grip free from me and squeezing her wrist. “Don’t ever touch me again.”

Wait until I tell Holland you put your hands on me, and I’m pregnant!"

"Don't worry! I'll tell him myself! Wait! What!"

Susie tries to dial Holland's number.

Amanza snatches her phone! “Are you pregnant for my husband? Just tell the truth, and I’ll leave.”

Susie immediately snatches her phone back from Amanza.

“You can't come in here putting your hands on me and disrespect me this way!”

Susie shouts at Amanza. "Get out of my house! Before I call the cops! Get out! " Susie screams at the top of her lungs.

"Oh, I’m leaving and not because you told me to. I can’t stand to look at you any longer. I don’t know what Holland saw in you in the first place. You can have my leftovers! I don’t want him! "

“Enjoy him.”

******

When I arrived home, I was so upset. I was smart enough to know that this phase of my life was over. I couldn't ignore the fact that I heard she was having his baby. “I can’t do this anymore.”

I took an armload of clothes and put them into one of the suitcases lying on the bed. Jamming the material into my Gucci suitcases, uncaring of the wrinkles and years of careful packing habits, I added more, pushing the clothing and stuffing it in before zipping it back with short, jerky movements.

I promised myself I wasn't going to cry. Tears were useless and wouldn't help me now. Nothing would help but return to my life before this marriage. Like serrated blades, the memories of the past three years sliced into me and tore at my heart. "God, how naive I must have been."

I snorted, pushing back my hair that slid over my shoulder as I continued to pack. I closed the suitcase and rolled it to the living room, and that’s when I bumped into Holland, who came into the front door while exiting it. We said this simultaneously.

“We need to talk.”

“I want a divorce, Holland.”

Holland's POVOn the day of my anniversary, I left work excited. I had made it to that auction just in time to bid on the perfect pair of earrings. I saw them a few days ago, and they reminded me of my wife’s beautiful eyes. I just had to have them. But nothing went the way I had planned it that day. Once I won the bid to purchase this expensive jewelry, I knew reporters were at the event and would swarm around me to interview me. So, to disguise my wife's natural gift. I ended up bidding on the ruby necklace at the auction and won that bid, too. So, I knew that the bid would attract reporters to me. And Amanza would probably see me on television talking about the necklace. So, I never mentioned the earrings because I planned to surprise her with them as my anniversary gift. I got a phone call when I was getting ready to leave work. Susan said, “Hey Holland, what are you doing?” “Oh I’m on my way to meet Amanza at Rochesters, it’s our anniversary today.” “Did you forget what else

How did you know about that?” That’s when the doorbell rang. Neither he nor I expected to see Holland’s mother, Kate. My mother-in-law is a nightmare, and shortly after that, another lousy dream follows behind her through the door, Susie. "Good evening, son." "Mom, Susan! What are you two doing here?" I thought as I looked at my onyx and the gold wedding ring she gave me, which was still on my finger.I can’t believe that Collin was in that car with Amanza! Strange, how could that be? I know my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. It was him I saw through the half-open car window; I know I saw him. I wonder what he whispered in Amanza’s ear. Then he looked at me evilly as if he was angry. He glared at me, and I felt like he was threatening me! Some nerve! I was worried about how my family would receive me, and it made me concerned, for the first month I had returned, wondering what everyone thought now that I was back home. I wouldn’t blame my family for their reactions. Since her broken marriage, especially with her father, Clinton. He didn't take my idea of marrying Holland too well. He knew Holland’s family and what he knew he didn’t like. But finally, I returned to the home where I grew up. I had missed the eight-bedroom, six-bath house and the many people here I had known since I was a child. What I missed the most was those early morning hours I had with my father before he would leave to go to the office. It had been three years since I left, and I wondered how he would react or what he might say now that I was back home. She had been avoiding everyone by sleeping late. It felt familiar and good to be home, yet strange, so I avoided everyone by sleeping late most days. I didn't know where the time went, but when I emerged from

I can tell by the look in my father’s eyes he was up to something. Sure, he was my father, and there was no other man on this planet I loved more, but his mere appearance in my office first thing in the morning meant he was about to ask me to consider doing something I would generally refuse. And from the way he pulled out the chair in front of my desk, with ever so slow movements before sitting as he stared at me with almost apologetic eyes, I knew my point of assessment was correct. “What is it, Daddy?” I was a little concerned.“You know I’m so proud of you.
