Chapter 5

EVENING, 7 P.M.

ELENA

I stood in front of the huge antique mirror in my bedroom, glaring at my reflection and admiring my features. The beautiful straight red dress looked dazzling on me, the remarkably long slit in front exposed my beautiful thin long legs which I never had the opportunity to be proud of. My slim face covered in heavy make-up matched my hair color, bright and blonde, prepared to seduce a man.

Obviously, I dressed to impress.

Just yesterday, I was having the worst time of my life finding out my husband whom I've loved for years was cheating on me and cruelly replacing me with another.

Now, I look so beautiful, preparing to go out with someone who might just become my next husband. Was I too desperate? I asked myself rhetorically and then I shook my head.

I am a free woman now, I ought to do things that pleases me. I soon received a text from Dave, stating that he was downstairs and ready to take me there, to the restaurant. I stared at the files I'd prepared to have Alpha Sebastian sign, if all things go well tonight, my pack should be on its feet before the month ends

All these, I was doing for my father. To uphold his legacy. I missed him, I wished I did this before his demise. I headed downstairs to meet Dave, and after getting into the car, he drove off in speed. I was a few minutes late already, hopefully, Alpha Sebastian wouldn't think I was trying to trick him.

While in the car, my mobile phone rang again and it was from Henry. Didn't he already ask for a divorce and move on with his life? Why did this man try to make things difficult for me?

I ignored him, turning my gaze and staring outside the car watching the busy street. It was somehow satisfying to watch.

We soon arrived at the restaurant, one of the biggest in the city. I didn't expect it, they seemed to be having an event as well. I wanted something private between Sebastian and I so that I could try and seduce him. I couldn't think of any other way to get what I wanted.

As soon as I stepped into the hotel, the manager approached me first, recognizing my identity. He led me to the VIP section where I'd already booked for Sebastian and I..

Dave stayed outside watching out for my safety. The vip room was silent, Alpha Sebastian hadn't arrived yet surprisingly.

I decided to wait, ordering a drink to keep myself busy. My mobile phone rang loudly again distracting my activity, I picked it up in rage in order to confront Henry. “I already gave you the divorce you wanted, why are you still bothering me, Henry?” I yelled out.

“Elena, we need to talk. Where are you? I'll come” Henry said to me. I ignored his question and I said, “Henry, stay away from me. I do not wish to talk to you” I ended the call and headed out of the room. Dave saw and followed me immediately.

“Luna, what happened? Did he cancel the appointment?” He questioned.

“No, Dave. He didn't. Let's just go, I think that Henry is in the North city. I do not want him to find me soon, "I said.

As we headed through the crowds of people having a banquet, I felt someone grab my hand and pull me to himself. His scent was familiar, even though we were separated, it was too indulging to forget so quickly. Our eyes locked in together.

“Let go of me, Henry!” I yelled out in rage, pushing him off me. I looked around, realizing that all of these people were Henry's business partners. I recognized a few of them because I'd previously helped Henry with his projects. Obviously, he was here on a business trip. His eyes flashed crimson as he declared in a cold voice.

“No, Elena. I'm not letting you go until you explain things to me” he retorted.

“Why, Henry? Why are you doing this to me? Didn't you refuse me already? We even got a divorce? What do you really want?” I yelled out in rage.

“I want you, Elena. I'm sorry, I didn't realize how much I loved you. It's been two days but I cannot get it all out of my mind. I'm sorry” Henry apologized to me. I wasn't carried away, instead, I wanted him to go as far away from me as possible.

The people in the restaurant hall continued to watch us. Right now, I was confused and didn't know what to do. All I wanted was for Henry to let me go at this point.

The media was over us soon, Henry cared less about them and instead, he was trying to get me to return with him. “Henry, let me go!” I yelled out, trying to push him off me but he persisted.

I was helpless, I couldn't run off at this point. I wished someone would save me from him.

“Get your hands off my mate, you coward!” A grumpy masculine voice interrupted the whole scene, reducing the tension I felt around me.

When I looked towards the doorway where it came from, I saw a man, very tall and handsome. His hair matched his face perfectly, and his thin lips were very attractive. I couldn't help but feel uncomfortable by his presence immediately.

We all stared at him confusedly except Henry, who had rage written all over his face. He also tightened his grip on me and pulled me over.

Something was off, I knew the man and Henry were familiar with each other at one glance. “Sebastian, what are you doing here? You bastard!” Henry was the first to speak. His words were hurtful but Sebastian remained composed and never responded.

He only looked at me with those piercing green eyes of his. I was mesmerized at once, feeling my heart beat all of a sudden. So, he is the man my father had always wanted me to marry. Sebastian Khao Of the Eagle pack.

My eyes never left his, neither did his left mine. There was a strong feeling of attraction between us, and then, my mind went back to the words he'd previously uttered. “Mate? Did he just call me his mate?” I was instantly anxious, sweet broke all over my face.

“Are you alright, Elena?” He questioned me and I nodded immediately.

“Sebastian, I will not ask you again. What are you doing here at my banquet?” Henry questioned.

But as Sebastian was about to say something, Henry charged and attacked him. He was no match for Sebastian, both men transited into their wolves and fought.

Sebastian was huge, had green eyes with his long fangs ready to devour Henry. I shook fearfully while trying to stop them from fighting. Henry has been beaten to pulp by Sebastian and no one could stop him from wanting to finish him up. I quickly stood in-between Henry's unconscious body and Sebastian’s hateful gaze.

His eyes soon softened when he saw me. “Are you defending him?” He asked me. I knew I wasn't, but I couldn't allow him to commit murder openly. Even though I wanted to get my revenge on Henry so bad, I never wanted it to be this way.

I looked around, noticing how everything turned out. The media team had been shut down and most of the guests were led out by Sebastian's men. I stared confusedly at him, feeling uncomfortable with the situation.

“Dave,” I called out, turning to him. “Let's go”

I took two steps forward before Sebastian's huge hairy body blocked my path making me unable to leave. “You're my mate, Elena, and so many people had just found out. Do you think that you'll be safe after this? I bet you, you cannot leave right through that door without getting shot to death.” Sebastian informed me.

At this point, I was damned
