59 The End

Two months later.

Hayden had left for the workshop early without telling me, or rather ordering me, not to come see the race. Ethan was still too young, and I understood that, but today was the big final, and it seemed fair that our little one saw his father's victory.

I called Grace and asked her to come for me. Naturally, she agreed immediately. So here I was, at the door, waiting for my crazy friend, with a bag containing my baby's things and a two-month-old baby in her baby carrier.

Grace's car pulled up in front of my house. I hurried over, settled my baby in the back seat, and then got into the front passenger seat next to Grace.

"Your husband is going to kill me," she said with a smile.

"He'll kill both of us, so hurry up or we'll be late, and I want to wish him good luck," I told her.

Grace nodded and sped off.

"You haven't been drinking, have you?" I asked her.

Grace immediately gave me a dirty look.

"I'm not a monster, Kat," she said.

I shrugged and then smiled at her.
