Heather POV “The women talked to you about us not being alone, right?” Reed started. “Yes, and I agree with them. Is that what the problem is? Don't you agree? Or is it because we can’t do anything? You want nothing to do with me?” I felt the tears start to well in my eyes. I’m not going to let them see me cry. It will just give them another reason to not want me. “That is not it at all, Heather we care for you a lot." Reed says taking my hand gently in his. "We told you even if we are not mates we don’t want to lose your friendship.” Lucas said, a little panicked, taking my other hand. “Then what is it? Tell me now.” The two of them take the next ten minutes stumbling over their words until they finally tell me what they let Sophie do to them in the woods. Sophie of all people. At the end, Reed tightened his hold on my hand. “We wanted to be the ones to tell you. We didn’t want you to hear it from her because she would try and rub it in your face. She won’t keep her mouth shut.”
Heather POVBy the time I was done, he had pulled me into his lap and was rubbing my back to calm me down.“Future Alphas or not, they need their asses kicked. How could they even think about having another woman touch them when they have someone as beautiful as you.” Nolan pushes a loose strand of hair behind my ear. “Even if I had to wait years to be with you I would.” Nolan cupped my cheek, running his thumb over my bottom lip. “What is it about you?” He whispers so quietly that I barely hear him just before he lightly brushes his lips on mine. He is gentle at first, then when I don’t stop him, he tilts his head deepening the kiss a little. The kiss is nice, different again from the twins and Jacob. Without breaking the kiss, he slides one hand around my waist and the other from my cheek to the back of my head and shifts us so that I’m lying on my back on the couch with Nolan above me. He glides his tongue along the seam of my lips asking for entry. I part my lips, allowing him to
Heather POVI’ve been at this for nine days now. I haven’t found much about the curse itself. Most of it that has been in English has been accounts of when previous twins were killed. I’m waiting for Grandma Shaw to come tomorrow to translate some of the other diaries that are written in Gaelic. We were only able to translate a couple of words here and there. Not enough to tell us anything for sure. What I did find interesting was that all throughout my family tree there have been very few males born. There were a lot of unwed mothers, tragic and early deaths of husbands and male children and, in some cases, female children as well. The result of all these deaths was only one child from each women surviving long enough to have a child that reached adult hood to have a child. The original last name of the family was passed down until Grandma married Grandpa and changed her name, which means that the Blackwood family name is now gone. This fact seemed to bother the adult women more than
Reed POV It has been over a week since we saw Heather. She took the whole week off school and was holed up in the room going over all the paper work that was brought from Lyla’s. I miss her. Lucas and I tried to get her to talk to us the first three days she was here. We would go after training not even bothering to shower. Hoping that if our scents were stronger that it would help us convince her to open the door, but she wouldn't let us in. The third day, I think we had been making progress when Levi showed up saying that Dad was looking for us and hadn't been able to link us since we had put up blocks. After we had talked to Dad, Mom had stopped us on our way back up to the room. We had decided that we were going to sit in the hall all night and just wait for her. We couldn't take it anymore. Mom had suggested that we back off for a bit. Give her until the weekend and then try again. Not knowing for sure what to do, we followed Mom's suggestion. That was two days ago. I’ve been num
Heather POV I pull out a chair and set down my bag when a hand lands on my shoulder. Thinking that it was Sophie coming back for another round, I spun around only to have my fist connect with a set of very well defined ads. I tilt my head up and find myself looking into those beautiful gray eyes. My eyes went wide. Shit I just punched the neighboring Alpha.“I’m so sorry Keegan, I thought it was Sophie coming back.” He puts his hand up in surrender. “No, that was my fault. My scent is close enough to hers being her brother that you wouldn’t have noticed the difference quickly. With Sophie it is probably better to punch first and ask questions later.” He says, rubbing his stomach. I watch as his hand moves back and forth. I’d like to do that. I shook my head, Heather stop that, I berated myself. I hear a chuckle and look up to see Keegan with a huge grin on his face. “Should I ask what you’re so focused on or just guess?” He asks as he cocks an eyebrow at me. I feel as if my entire bo
Heather POVMy first year of high school is almost finished. I have one week left, then I will be starting a six-week English course as one of my extra credits. Then, for the last two weeks of summer, I’ll be going to Blue Ridge to spend some time with Dawn, Jacob and Zane before the boys head out to their Alpha and Beta training. The time has gone faster than I thought. I was able to get one extra math credit done throughout the year, so once I get the English credit done, I will have ten credits instead of the usual eight for the first year. I was able to convince Grandma to sign the papers so that I am able to take the math and English credits that I need as independent courses, which gives me the time at the school to do the courses that require school facilities, such as science, gym, art. You know what I mean. If I’m able to pass everything, I will be done all my credits by my third year. I was hoping for two and a half, but I’m not sure. I mean, I want to get it done and over w
Reed POVThe two of us have really fuck things up. We’ve both tried different ways to forget her. Lucas is screwing anything he can and I’ve... well let’s just say that Dad’s liquor cabinet isn’t as full as it used to be. Neither of us are sleeping well. We have let all of our training, both physically and practical, go to the wayside. I'm kind of surprised that Dad hasn't said anything yet. Our grades in school have slipped. Both of us just skimmed by getting our credits this year, which our parents don’t know about yet. In less than a year, everything has started to fall apart. This wasn’t how things were supposed to go. Quinn was going to go do his training and would be done and come back just as Levi, Lucas and I were going for ours. Then, when we were all done with the two-year program, the three of us would come back. We would work alongside our fathers for a few years, getting better acquainted with all the finer points of the pack and the business, then, when we were all in ag
Reed POV“Well, I’m not sure how we managed, but we graduated,” Lucas says as he puts his arm around my shoulders as we were making our way out of the school for the last time. These last couple of years have been a struggle, but like Lucas said, we managed. After almost failing that second year of high school, Dad and Mom figured out we were not doing as well as they thought. We had tried to hide how badly we were doing, both of us in the opinion that we deserved to suffer for what we had done. In my opinion, Mom and Dad were more understanding than I think they should have been. Mom worked with us and an old college friend of hers to help get us in a better mental state over the summer. Dad helped us get back on track with our combat training and keep with it. Then, when school started back up, Mom worked with us to get our grades back under control and again stick with it. The rest of our lives still need some work. What Mom and her friend did with us throughout that one summer did
