Chapter 58

Lucas POV

We exited the packhouse. I nudged Reed’s shoulder. “Forget the one on one. Race you to the falls.”

“You’re on.”

This was the only kind of competition that Reed and I had ever had and even then it was not much. Reed was always just a little stronger and I was just a little faster. It balanced out. Reaching the clearing at the side of the falls, I lay down to just stare at the sky waiting for Reed to get comfy beside me. I turned my gaze towards him. “It’s been a long time since we did this.”

“Yep.”

“Life is just going to get harder from here, isn’t it.”

“Yep.”

“Are you going to give me more than one word answer?”

“Nope.” I heard him chuckle.

“You jackass.”

“Yep.”

I reached over and punched him in the shoulder. The two of us just lay there laughing for a few minutes. I get lost in my thoughts watching the clouds go by when Reed asks, “Are you scared about the idea of us sharing a mate?”
