Chapter 64

Reed POV

“HEATHER!!!”

I watch as Heather’s feet slide on the loose dirt at the edge of the cliff. No, no, no, this can’t be happening. Why were we even fighting over her? I lunged for her at the same time as I saw Lucas out of the corner of my eye doing the same. Lucas manages to get a grip on her wrist but her sweater sleeve starts sliding over her hand. Sh*t she doesn’t have it done up, it’s going to slide right off her. I made another grab for her. Her shirt had ridden up when she was flailing her arms exposing the waist band of her jean shorts. I lunged to grab hold of it and with probably more strength than was needed, I pulled. The three of us landed in a pile about two feet away from the edge with Heather on top of us wrapped in our arms, pinning her to our chests. The three of us lay there panting as if we had just sprinted up the mountainside. I don’t know about the other two, but my heart is beating so fast I’m scared I’m having a heart attack.
