Doesn't look like the 'Groomed Hunters' have learned yet.
Reed POV Lucas, Quinn and I are standing on the grass in front of Meg’s normal parking spot. We watch as Meg pulls up and parks. They don’t get out of the car right away. “Why aren’t they getting out?” Quinn links us. “I don’t know, man.” I sent back. Quinn points at Meg and tells her to get out of the car. He walked over to the driver’s door. Meg slowly steps out of the car and before Meg can close the door, Quinn has her pulled in for a kiss. He breaks the kiss, leans his forehead against Meg’s and whispers something to her. He pulls her in for another kiss. From behind the car we heard a growl. We all turned to see Avery. Boy is she pissed. Quinn pulls back from the kiss, turns his back to Avery and puts an arm around Meg’s shoulders. “Is there anything else you need from your car?” He asks her. Meg shakes her head no. Quinn reached over and swung the driver’s door closed. “April, please make sure it’s locked after you get out.” Quinn asked. “No problem Bro. Talk to you later.”
Lucas POV We exited the packhouse. I nudged Reed’s shoulder. “Forget the one on one. Race you to the falls.” “You’re on.” This was the only kind of competition that Reed and I had ever had and even then it was not much. Reed was always just a little stronger and I was just a little faster. It balanced out. Reaching the clearing at the side of the falls, I lay down to just stare at the sky waiting for Reed to get comfy beside me. I turned my gaze towards him. “It’s been a long time since we did this.” “Yep.” “Life is just going to get harder from here, isn’t it.” “Yep.” “Are you going to give me more than one word answer?” “Nope.” I heard him chuckle. “You jackass.” “Yep.” I reached over and punched him in the shoulder. The two of us just lay there laughing for a few minutes. I get lost in my thoughts watching the clouds go by when Reed asks, “Are you scared about the idea of us sharing a mate?” “I... I don’t know. We have always known that the possibility was there. I neve
Reed POV “Tents, sleeping bags, pillows, cooking grill, pots, pans, paper plates and utensils. Can you think of any other basics we need?” Lucas asks as he climbs out of the back of the truck. “I think that should be it. How many tents did you grab?” “Five. Three, two men and two, three men. The Thatcher brothers are bringing their own and so are Jacob and his group.” I leaned against the rear bumper of the truck, stretched my legs in front of me, crossing them at the ankles and turned my gaze to Lucas. “Do you think Heather would share a tent with us?” Lucas walks over and joins me on the bumper. “I don’t know. We could ask her, but if we’re going to, I think we should do it before everyone else is here and give her time to think about it. Make sure she knows she has other options.” I nodded my head in agreement. “Ok. I think it would be nice to just hold her through the night.” Lucas slaps my shoulder. “Yeah. Let’s go find her.” Heather POV “Heather, where are you?” “In my
Reed POV “Heather, where are you?” “In my room packing, I want to get it done before Dawn gets here. She just texted and said they would be here in about half an hour.” Heather had just finished answering me when I knocked on her door. “Hey what’s up?” She asks as she opens the door. “Lucas and I have a question for you. Could we come in?” I asked. She stepped back, opening the door wider to allow us in. Lucas wraps his arms around her waist, picking her up off the floor while giving her a quick kiss on the lips and another on the side of her neck. She wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist as his hands slid to her thighs. Ever since we had our talk with Heather, this was the type of things that we had been doing. Giving her small kisses, hugging her and touching her in any way we could. Never anything that is inappropriate for mixed ages especially in a wolf community, but she always seemed to be responsive by putting her arms and legs around us too. I di
Heather POVAs I opened the front door of the packhouse, I heard many excited voices. Alpha Shane and Luna Mona are standing on the steps talking with Alpha Sean and Luna Rene as they watch the guys move supplies from the SUV that they arrived in to the military style truck we are taking to the lake. I spot Dawn standing near the back of the truck with her back to me as she inspects Meg’s neck. Quinn has not let that mark fade in any way. I started making my way over to the girls. I stepped up beside Dawn and threw my arm over her shoulder. “Hey sexy, come here often?” Dawn turns with a huge grin on her face, throws her arms around my neck, and tries to crush the life out of me with a hug.“Hey, did I hear someone out here hitting on my woman?” Zane says as he jumps out the back of the truck.“What do you mean your woman? She’s mine, and you know it. You’re just filler for when I’m not around.”Zane laughs as he pulls me out of Dawn’s arms to give me a hug. “How have you been, Shorty?
Heather POV“Ok, we are in the car. TALK NOW.” This was the first thing out of Dawn’s mouth as soon as Meg started the engine. The three of us looked at each other. I turned to Dawn. “What do you want us to start with?”“The group from the kitchen.”So on our drive to my Grandmother’s, we had to stop there before going to the lake so we could water her gardens. We filled Dawn in on what Avery, Addison and Allison had done to receive their punishment and what those punishments were.“You have got to be kidding me,” Dawn says as we all exit the car. “They are that desperate already. It’s not like they have been looking for their mates for years.”“Avery was the worst, but now that she knows that Quinn isn’t her mate, she’s pushing her sisters. She has it in her head that the only reason that Quinn didn’t recognize her as his true mate was because I had somehow confused his senses. So she has made it her mission to make sure that Heather doesn’t do the same with Reed and Lucas and take t
Heather POV That first night out at the lake was fantastic. Good food, good laughs and good times. Some of the ones that had their wolves shifted and went for a run while the rest of us stayed back and kept an eye on the fire. The only small issue that happened was Jacob, Zane and Dawn getting into an argument. She said that she would explain in the morning. Around midnight, most of us had started to make our way to our tents. Yes, I know that sounds early for a group of young people like us, but we have all started to be conditioned to be up for training before school. Meg and Quinn were sharing a tent. April had decided to crash in the larger tent that had been set up for the single females. Levi, we weren’t exactly sure where he had opted for, but Melissa had decided to stay with her cousins when Liam left. Since they had had the argument, Dawn was in the same tent as April. Jacob and Zane were sharing one of the three-person tents. I had been debating about staying in the larger t
Reed POV “HEATHER!!!” I watch as Heather’s feet slide on the loose dirt at the edge of the cliff. No, no, no, this can’t be happening. Why were we even fighting over her? I lunged for her at the same time as I saw Lucas out of the corner of my eye doing the same. Lucas manages to get a grip on her wrist but her sweater sleeve starts sliding over her hand. Sh*t she doesn’t have it done up, it’s going to slide right off her. I made another grab for her. Her shirt had ridden up when she was flailing her arms exposing the waist band of her jean shorts. I lunged to grab hold of it and with probably more strength than was needed, I pulled. The three of us landed in a pile about two feet away from the edge with Heather on top of us wrapped in our arms, pinning her to our chests. The three of us lay there panting as if we had just sprinted up the mountainside. I don’t know about the other two, but my heart is beating so fast I’m scared I’m having a heart attack. That is when I realize that
