Chapter 9

The truth of my death was revealed.

My father sued Celeste for orchestrating my passing, and Jeremy was there in court the day she was punished with a thirty-year sentence in prison.

After the court was adjourned, Jeremy returned to our home.

It was two months since the last time we fought, and two months since he had returned to this house. I wasn't sure how to feel either, seeing the expression on Jeremy's face.

Then, I saw Jeremy go through the house in a frenzy, trying to find the things I owned, before he sat there in the resulting mess, hugging my clothes close to his body as he mumbled, "Elodie, you've always been understanding, right…? P-Please, won't you forgive me again? Please come back… Please let me make it right…"

Suddenly, something seemed to attract his attention, and he scrambled towards the bookshelf on his knees, reaching for a beautifully decorated book.
