Chapter Twenty-Three: Eurgh

She's actually crazy...

The Stable hand’s repeated mutters grow louder and more convulsive.

Her thumb enters her mouth as she chews it mercilessly.

I swear I can hear the sound of her teeth crunching on flesh. When she drops her hand from her mouth, I realise she is missing a nail.

There is no blood, but her thumb looks badly hurt.

Did...did she chew her nails out?

Isn't that crazy?

The sound of a door shutting calls her attention. She stiffens, and without warning, she turns and runs in the opposite hallway.

"What the hell...Ow!"

I mutter, and as I try to stand, sharp pain pierces my ankle.

Don't tell me I've sprained my foot.

"What are you doing?"

Christopher's voice sounds from behind me as if my morning hasn't been eventful enough.

Cold green eyes stare down at me from the top of the stairs.

If I say Blair's look-alike pushed me, he probably won't believe it. No, he'll probably not ‘want’ to believe me. Aren’t people more defensive towards their guilty pleasures?
