Chapter Thirty-One: Pathetic

"I don't smoke. Plus, I'm thirteen."

I say as I brush the dirt off my skirt.

Todd transferred to my school after we started dating.

Hmm, I could have sworn his shirt had holes when we first met.

I thought he was poor, but I guess not if he can afford this academy.

"That's true; I didn't smoke when I was your age either."

He says, throwing his hand over my shoulder as we walk.

He has new friends that he makes me hang around. I don’t like them; they smoke, drink and talk about everyone as if the rest of the world is garbage.

No, I shouldn’t think that; I want to be around him so much that I follow him to the scary group.

"That was like a year ago; you make it sound like it’s been ages since you were thirteen.”

Todd smiles at my response, pulls my chin to his height and kisses me.

My first kiss tastes like cigarettes.

I don’t feel the need to tell him its my first kiss, I’m sure he knows.
