"It makes you anxious? Maybe we switch to a non-hormonal one?"

The doctor adds, but Christopher shakes his head.

"No, she doesn't want it. It's fine. I don't know how effective condoms are; we used them, and now we have a son. I'm hoping for a daughter this time, but we'll see."

"Is that a threat?"

I ask with a frown, and he smiles, but he doesn't answer me; he only turns to the doctor.

The empty box in my hand feels odd. I've taken the medicine and thought I should be feeling relieved; I only feel anxious.

Is it because we are going back to that house?
