I left my office, eager to return home. The evening air was crisp, carrying the scent of blooming flowers.

As I entered my house, the silence enveloped me. Everyone was likely indoors, retired to their rooms.

I glanced around, confirming my suspicion. Camilla and April were probably out for ice cream, giggling over flavors. Rosaline had tagged along with Augustine to the supermarket, eager to help with shopping.

And Lucien... He was likely with Krisdana, lost in their own little world.

That left me alone in the house, with Emma.

A thrill ran through me as I climbed the stairs, my footsteps quiet on the carpet.

I reached Emma's room, my heart beating faster. I pushed open the door, finding her sitting on the bed, lost in thought.

"Hey," I said softly, not wanting to startle her.

Emma looked up, her eyes locking onto mine. A hint of a smile played on her lips.

I stepped inside, closing the door behind me. The world outside
