Seeing Dorothy's nervous and uneasy expression, I quickly offered a smile and said, "I know, I know. Dorothy, I just wanted to say hello. And since you ignored me earlier, I got anxious. That's all."

Dorothy looked at me awkwardly. "Is it really that important whether I acknowledge you or not?"

"Of course it is," I replied without hesitation. I noticed Dorothy's gaze was uncomfortable and tinged with a hint of shyness. It was quite charming.

I thought about what Tiffany had said earlier.

When pursuing a woman, the man mustn't be too proper or gentlemanly; he should be a brute when the time was right.

Dorothy was clearly embarrassed rather than angry or upset. This meant she didn't dislike what happened in the morning; she was just startled and shy about the unexpected encounter.
