Episode 4

We came to the office after an hour. Justin and my mom were talking in her office, while I was implored to stay behind with Derek.

Derek kept on anxiously shaking his legs; at first I didn't want to say anything, but it was impossible to ignore. .

"Sir, do you need anything?".

I volunteered to leave the office we were at, waiting for the meeting between my mom and his manager to come to an end.

"No! I just want to go home; I don't feel so good." He pressed his hand on the chest and moaned like he was experiencing pain.

"Are you sure? Don't you want anything? Do you call Justin?".I asked him again.

This time around, he kept quiet and decided not to answer my question. We kept on staying at the office; at least it was for an hour before Justin came back, and he brought my mom along with him.

She was relieved to see me at the office, safe and sound.

We talked for a while before Justin grabbed me away from my mom and brought me home to look after Derek.

He wasn't feeling too strong, and the more he kept on staying at the office, the weaker he became.

"Sarah, please take care of him, and if he needs anything, don't hesitate to call me; do you understand?" . ..

Justin left me with a few instructions to follow, and one of them was not disturbing Derek until there's an emergency...

"Okay, I will do just that." I replied and watched him leave with the car.

He hadn't properly left when Sophia and a few others that work at the mansion came together, and they had information to relate to me.

"Sarah, I hope Derek's actually in his room, sleeping.".

Sophia started with scary assumptions about our boss.

"What do you mean? Where else would he go to sleep?". I diverted her question back to her and smiled.

"I don't know, but we both know what he is.". She placed her hand on my shoulder and continued, "Please, be careful, okay?" ..

The rest of the female workers followed her, and no one cared to explain what was happening. I had to go to Derek's bedroom to confirm, despite Justin's fire instructions not to disturb him unless it was for an emergency.

Derek was sound asleep when arrived.

There was nothing to worry about aside from the fact that whatever Sophia said was to scare me. There was nothing wrong with Derek; at least that was what I assumed until it was twelve at midnight.

The cook, Franca, has always prepared by night ginger tea, and today she seemed to have forgotten about it.

I came to the kitchen. I turned on the gas and placed the kettle on top of it. I wasn't expecting to find anyone else at that time I woke up, but I heard footsteps approaching the kitchen door, and just when I turned, I met Derek at the kitchen door.

"Sir! Do you want something?".

As I asked him, I kept the cup for my ginger tea on the table.

Derek looked at me; he doesn't say anything, but rather, he went to the kitchen back door and left. He must be going to the outhouse since that was the only route we could use to go there.

I ran after him, but before that, I picked up my phone and called Justin. He was yet to come back from his meeting, and without him, I had no inclination on what to do.

Derek wasn't saying anything, and as much as I would have loved he did, I had to think about my safety.

"Derek, sir, are you alright?" ...

I stood at the outhouse door and asked him, assuming he wasn't going to speak; he turned and showed me a picture.

"I miss my family!!".

He expressed it with a sad look.

I didn't know what exactly to say that would console; all I knew was that I needed to anyway.

"I'm sorry. Are they dead?". I asked him...

"No! I left because they didn't want to see me.". He left the photo in my hand and then sat on the ground depressed.

"Really? Did you do anything to them?".

I asked him another question while he continued to sit on the ground.

"Yeah! My family blames me for the death of my father... They say I killed him because he chose to save my life when the hunters attacked us years ago.". .

He answered my question.

"Okay, but what if no one remembers that? Don't you want to at least see them?". I politely gave a suggestion, and I wasn't expecting an approval.

"You're right, I will have to visit my family tomorrow; after all, it's going to be dad's death anniversary." He said, feeling a bit better than how he was before.

I listened to a few of his childhood memories before taking him back inside and to his bedroom. Justin came home, and he asked me about Derek, because I had to tell him everything that took place and his sudden desire to go home to his family by tomorrow.

"Why would you suggest that to him?".

Instead of thanking me, he repremened me.

"I'm sorry, he wanted to go, and besides, tomorrow is his father's death anniversary.". .

I replied to his question and then watched his face frown as I talked.

The following day,Derek woke up excited.

He couldn't wait to go back home, and as much as Justin wasn't in total support. He had no right to stop him from visiting his parents. .

I also had my bags packed, and I was taken to his parents house. We got to their city in three hours. It was indeed a long journey, and all I wanted was to be given a neatly dressed bed and some food.

A young lady with a man stopped us from entering the house, and by their looks, they resembled Derek's siblings, who were not estatic to see him at their parents house.

"Little bro, how are you?".

After such an uncomfortable glare, the young lady pulled Derek, and they both embraced each other.

"Derek green. My handsome and rich baby brother.".

The man standing beside the lady grabbed Derek away and forced himself upon him.

I thought they were going to kick us out, but everything played differently in my head.

Derek was invited in like royalty, and I followed him behind after Justin warned me against interfering with what was happening.
