Episode 3

While I was busy working back, my mom had plans of playing wife with the neighbor's family. Adrian might be cool, but I cannot stand Frankie; she's too much of a competitor and a bully.

It was morning the following day, and Justin asked me to take care of Derek's breakfast. I thought they had maids that did just that, but it turned out that the lady had also resigned. Literally, everyone has been resigning from working at the mansion.

I prepared a light breakfast and then went upstairs to Derek's bedroom to call him. I knocked on his bedroom door, and a few minutes later, he opened the door.

"Good morning, Sarah." He looked at my face and smiled.

I smiled back and said.

"Good morning, sir, your break fast is ready," I notified him.

"Good, thank you." He said and then went back into his room.

I waited for him to come downstairs before leaving for the kitchen. I had other things to take care of, but while I was doing that, I noticed that there weren't enough ingredients to prepare Derek's dinner. We won't be able to come back home for lunch, so Justin would order food from his artist's favorite restaurant...

"Sarah, where are you going?"

As I came out of the kitchen holding a market bag, Justin asked me.

He was seated opposite Derek on the breakfast table.

"To the market to get some ingredients for the kitchen." I replied to his question and continued walking till I reached the door and left.

I went to the market and got everything on my list. I wasn't expecting to see anyone else at the market, but I was shocked when I encountered Daniella, the cook.

"Hey, good morning. I heard you resigned; why?".We went to a less crowded place to talk.

"Yeah, I couldn't stay anymore." She gave me a straightforward answer without any more details as to why she had to resign.

"Really, but what happened? Was it because of Justin, or did Derek do something to you?".

I insisted on knowing the truth from her.

At first she wasn't willing to tell me anything, but after much deliberation, she held my hand, pulled me closer than I was, and said.

"Sarah, there's something wrong with Derek, and Justin knows about it.".

"Something's wrong with Derek? How do you mean?".

She wasn't making any sense, so I asked for clarity.

"Yeah! But don't worry, you'll be able to see everything tonight.".

Her hand grabbed my shoulders, and she left.

I didn't quite pay attention to her statement until it was evening. We were back from the office, and Derek was imploring Justin to go upstairs and take a bath.

There was nothing to worry about till I heard voices and growling coming from downstairs.

I thought a thief had gained access to the mansion without triggering the alarm, and so I grabbed the bat I brought from my house and came downstairs, looking for the thief...

But I was confronted by the scene of Derek coming out of his office; his clothes were torn, and Justin came right after him.

I almost assumed that they were robbed, but that played out differently in my head when Justin walked Derek to the outhouse. I didn't want to follow them, but my curiosity was way bigger than my sense of obedience.

I came there and listened to their conversation.

"So, do you think this will work?" ..

Derek asked Justin with an unsettling tone.

"Yeah, the Sharman asked us to do this, and I believe it would work.

As Justin replied to his question, I began hearing some incantations going on inside.

I managed to get a look at what was going on from the window. Derek was taken to an alter, and it turned out that Justin wasn't the only one in the room; there were other people in the room with them.

They all gathered Derek and made a circle.

Each of them held a staff in their hand, and while the incantations went on, Derek went into a deep sleep.

I attempted to get a closer look but I accidentally tripped and broke the vase outside, thereby alarming the others inside.

I picked myself up from the ground, but just before I could leave, Justin grabbed my hand and pulled me back to his angry gaze...

"Sarah, why are you here?"

He pushed me inside with the others.

I saw strange faces, and not only that, their faces were strange as well.

"Hey! I wanted to speak to Derek.".

I said the first thing that came to my mind.

"Well, he's busy at the moment; is there anything else you want?".

The light from the house flashed inside when he opened the door.

"No, I'll go now." I said and left them alone.

The following day, I woke up harboring a lot of questions. I couldn't place my hand around the fact that Derek might be in a cult, and it also reminded me of the warning the cook gave to me at the market.

"Good morning, Sarah, How are you this morning?".

Derek and I bumped into each other on our way to the breakfast table. Justin already had someone else to take care of the kitchen duties after Gena quit her job.

"Good morning, sir. I'm fine, how are you?"

I returned the question back to him and smiled.

"I'm good; better if you ask me.".

He grinned back and then followed me to the breakfast table...

 sat with Justin for breakfast.

And as much as I didn't want to bring out the topic of last night, I could not stop myself from asking questions...

"What was all that last night?".

I started questioning them.

Justin head arose, and he gave me a signal not to say anything. I didn't quite understand what he was trying to tell me before Derek's response.

"What do you mean, Sarah?" He turned his head to his manager and continued, "Did Sarah see everything that happened last night?". He asked him...

Justin rolled his head and then responded to the question nonchalantly.

"I'm sorry, she came during the incantations, but aside from that, nothing happened.".

He clarified to Derek.

"I see, but don't you think we should at least tell her the truth?".He turned to me and continued, "Sarah, do you believe in Werewolves?" He paused at the end of that question.

"Werewolves? Are you they real?". I asked, finding it hard to believe.

"Yeah, because I am one." Derek told an unbelievable truth...

"No! You're a human like myself." Ilet go of my wooden spoon...

"Really? Then tell me what happened last night was ordinary.". He left me to answer, but when I couldn't give any response, he continued, "Sarah, I am a Werewolf, but I am cursed, and I need an antidote to cure me from losing myself.". .

He looked at Justin with a sad counterance.

I wasn't understanding anything, and so I asked, "What curse? And what was the ritual for?".I asked him another question...

Justin forbade Derek from telling me the truth, but he ended up telling me everything.

"A long time ago, my family was cursed by a witch, and ever since then I've been trying to break it; that was the reason for the ritual."
