As all of the witches square off with each other to begin their sparring matches, I prepare myself for a decent show. Most likely just drama filled but I will still take it. Hazel launches herself at Jade without a moments hesitation leaving Jade to scrabble and try to block her. After our first sparring practice we all head back to the house. The witches are all grumbling about how sore they are. Some are even bringing up the sparring match between Blair and Samara. They all seem rather shocked by how much anger was in their match. The matches between the two Council members and Jade and Hazel are spoken of just as frequently. This time with a small amount of reverence.Everybody seems to have much more excitement for the combat training after today. The sparring really put into perspective how much the basics training helps. At the end of the week I would like to have a celebration. "What did you want?" Safiya asks when she finally decides to join me in the hallway."Why don't we go up to the library to talk about it?" I tell her. Arriving at the pack feels like coming home. It was definitely the right decision for tonight. I am looking forward to spending some time at home with Dante and not having to worry about the witches for the night. They always have a way to get ahold of me so I am not worried about them. It has been quite a while since I have had his cooking besides at the pack dinners. It is different when it is just for us though. Spending the evening with Dante for dinner was pure bliss. We made a deal not to talk about any threats to us after the dinner was done. Instead, we just caught up on each other, told some stories and enjoyed our company. There was nobody watching and judging me as I ate and socialized. What a freeing feeling.After dinner, we decide to sit in the rec room and watch a movie. There is no point in working on a movie series since we have no idea when I will be back here again. Instead, we choose the movie Eragon. For once, I have to admit that I am not a huge fan of the movie. I read the book at one point and the movie just does not do the book justice. The books were pure genious while the movie was just a little 'bleh'. The story line itself was still pure genious but the way that they made the movie was lacking. Friday morning arrives quickly. With it, comes some of the notes from Safiya about the tradition dances. She has notes on a rain dance, a coming of age dance, and even a mate dance. Apparently witches used to do a dance when they wanted to find someone to have a child with. They would ask the Moon Goddess for a sign as to who they should try to conceive with.This is complete news to me as it almost seems like they were looking for something similar to a mate. Sure, werewolves do not have to ask her for a sign for us, but for many of us there is a predetermined perfect mate out there. She has already made the one that she thinks would be the best for us so we just have to keep an open mind when meeting them.Elle informs me that she has never completed this dance before and neither has anybody that she knows. I guess this all technically does not have to be on me. I do not have to fight everybody for the dream that I have. The dream that the Moon Goddess has shown me. That dream shows all of our children living in peace. Both species living together and getting along. Sometimes breeding between the species may occur but that could only benefit us further. This dream is not something that I could ever give up. I want my children to grow up safely. I want them to know that nobody is going to hunt them down the second they walk away from the pack. After talking with Safiya for I find that I have a renewed sense of purpose as I finish my walk to the pack. She surprises me by wanting to come with me to observe how the wolves act when they are not being attacked by witches. Apparently, this is a bit of a foreign concept to her.There are party lights strung along all of the trees encircling the back of the pack house. This time, Dante and Kevin have set up a stereo outside so that everybody can listen to music while we enjoy our dinner. Most of the pack has already arrived and are mulling around, talking to each other in groups.Looking back at Safiya, I can see that she is once again dressed in her typical Witch Council attire. She is wearing a business suit that has a series of lunar phases going up the sides and running under her arms. There is also a small pin on her lapel that shows the symbol for a witch. Simonetta rushes towards me using wind to guide her speed. It is not enough to throw me off guard though and I shove a wall of dirt up in front of me. She almost crashes into it before she is able to skid to a stop at the last second. Each team splits up and gets ready to make their way through the obstacle course. They are all going to have to take turns trying to make it through safely. Each team has a designated amount of time before they get elminated. The one that makes it through the fastest and with the least amount of mistakes, will be the ones to win the competition. The course is very similar to the one that we did with the entire pack when we first started training. The one that really got the women moving faster as they fought to make good time through the course to beat the men. This one is just a little more geared towards children and not fully grown adults.Some of the obstacles are smaller to better accomodate their size, some things are closer together and they have even added some new obstacles that would have been difficult for the adults. I have never packed a diaper bag before but luckily Scarlett shows up to help me get them ready and squeal over the twins for a minute. The first night with the babies was quite a bit of a learning curve. Whenever we put them in their bassinets they just started to cry nonstop until we picked them up again. It took a couple of hours to find out that if we put them into the same bassinet they were able to sleep peacefully and not wake us up. By the time we managed learning that, I was beyond exhausted and ready to sleep. Chelsea comes running in once the babies start to cry for food. Her face is filled with excitement as she rushes over to me. Even though they are hungry, I allow her to hold and rock Caterine while I first feed Archer. I might get good enough to be able to feed them both at once in the future but for now feeding just one is tricky.
