For dinner Dante decides to make a taco bar with a few different proteins. There are steak, chicken and ground beef tacos for us all to choose from along with a variety of toppings. Somehow, he managed to get all of this ready in just over an hour for Scarlett and Quin to come over for dinner.Quin still has not said anything to Scarlett about moving to another pack so we are going to have to broach the topic very carefully. We do not want her to think that we want to get rid of her but that we are just worried about the safety of her and her pup."Laina, I am so happy to be here for dinner again. I love when our wonderful Alpha cooks for us. You got lucky with that one." Scarlett says to me."That I did. He is a decent cook isn't he." I say happily. We talk a little bit about how the pregnancy is going while we wait for the men to sit down at the table with us. I try to make subtle hints at needing to be careful of the pup when it is born. Sh
For some reason, I had expected more of an argument out of Scarlett so the fact that she does not argue much has me a little taken aback. Maybe now that she is thinking of a little one she realizes that she has to put her safety first for a while. Whatever the reason, I am a little relieved that she saw the sense in moving. The rest of dinner passed in a melancholy silence with the knowledge that some of our pack members were going to be leaving for the forseeable future. No matter how well thought out the reasoning is, the thought of them leaving has me on the verge of tears for the rest of dinner and looking at Scarlett I can tell that she is as well."I am really going to miss you guys. I hope that you know that. Scarlett, not only were you the first family member that I have met after all of these years but you are also the first friend that I have ever made. Even before my parents were killed I did not have friends but you were somehow so easy to talk
Even though I have known for a few days now that Scarlett and Quin will be leaving the pack for a while, it still catches me off guard when the time finally comes just a few days later. Even though with my classes that I teach and the witch lessons that I take, I am completely booked at all times, I still managed to take her shopping before she leaves. As the closest relative still alive I take it upon myself to buy all kinds of baby items and gifts to decorate their new place. This way even when I am not there they can still think of me. Not knowing if the baby is a boy or girl really made shopping difficult but I somehow managed to find quite a few items that I would love to see for her child to grow up with.Overall, we spent every spare moment together leading up to them heading out. I even went so far this morning as to help them pack up their truck. The feeling is bittersweet watching them get ready to leave but I am thrilled that their baby is going to be given
"Morden!" I yell as I skid to a stop a few feet away. She turns towards me looking shocked at my obvious speed to get here before they could try anything. As my anger at her targeting my pack and family grows, the clouds in the sky start to darken. Elle always warned me that my anger could effect the weather since I have such control over the elements. Maybe today they will learn what all I am capable of. "Laina, how nice to see you. I was under the impression that you left the pack." Morden says spitefully. "No, you knew fully well that I was back. You sent some of your witches after me the day that I came back here. I know that they told you that I was heading back home. What do you want?" I ask her as the wind picks up. Her eyes widen as she looks around at the weather and then back at me. "I want just what I told you the last time that I saw you. I want you in my Coven. I need you to help me establish peace amongst the wolf packs." She says. Huh, I almost believe her. Sadly fo
Morden struggles to fight me off but I caught her slightly off guard by landing on her the way that I did. She has a shield up that I have no idea how to get around but since she has not yet managed to regain her confidence I might have a chance of finding a way around it. "Laina, her shield will not hold forever. Just keep going and it will break. It is air." Elle yells from behind me. Just air? I can handle that. Heck, I can make one of my own. At the thought of it I wrap myself in my own shield of air as I swing my knife towards her. She manages to block it in time as she regains her composure. Throwing me off of her with a blast of air, I manage to land only a couple of feet away on my feet. "I see that you have been practicing using the elements. That is smart since you can do almost anything you want with them. Still, I have been practicing for much longer so you might have to work a little harder if you want to be able to beat me." Morden snarls. "I do not want to beat you
While she had watched the fight out of the corner of her eyes she did not take the time to test for illusions. She failed to realize that we could have been tricking her this entire time. Elle was more than capable of helping me and we communicated this plan through another wolf as I ran here ahead of the others. My wolves never even came out of the woods to fight anyone. While all of her witches thought that they were fighting real wolves only one had even come close to touching a wolf. When Dante had grabbed the witch's arm it had really been him there as they would have been too difficult to fake but he backed off after that and all of the rest was just a ruse. Her witches are now exhausted as they realize that they have been taking on fake wolves this entire time. The rest of my pack walks out with wolfy smiles as they surround the witches. Not just a few wolves that were in the illusion but the entire pack, a few hundred strong, walk out and surround the witches w
"Elle, Elle, what is it? Who is she?" I ask in confusion. Elle just turns to me blankly for a minute before answer. "Christina is or was my sister." I just continue to stare at her in confusion. I never thought to ask Elle if she had had any other children but I guess that when you live as long as she has you cannot be expected to only have one. Does that mean that I have other family members out there? "Are you saying that this girl here is related to us?" I ask her dumbfounded. "Yes, if what she says is true then yes she is related to us. She would be my niece and your distant cousin. I never knew that she had a child though. She can't be dead either. There is no way that she would die during childbirth. Not a witch. That is almost unheard of." She says while still having that blank look on her face. Well, not sure how far we are going to get with Elle when she is looking this shocked so I turn to look at Julia once again. "Are you going to cause us any problems Julia? I do not
Julia seems to be sweet and meek when we finally get back to the club house. I try to keep her close to me since she was one of the witches that was attacking us before. Even though the pack is good at listening to my requests, I cannot imagine that they would be nice to her after what happened before. Instead, I have her sit next to me while we order enough pizza to feed the entire pack. From more than one pizza place since there are so many of us."So, you are truly not upset that I kept you from leaving with the witches?" I ask her uncertainly."No, does it really matter though. You have every right after what we did to you earlier. That was really ingenius how you beat us though. I can't imagine that Morden ever expected you were capable of something like that. So far all she has taught me is how to fight but none of the other important aspects of being a witch." She says sadly. If that is true then she is missing out on an entire chunk of training. She most
