Writer's POV

As the Cobbler family left, Selena let out a sigh and wiped her forehead, unknowingly standing in front of Rufus.

Rufus glanced down at her long, straight black hair, noticing a few strands that were sticking up. He found it adorable and couldn't help but smile. He raised his hand to gently press them down.

Selena felt a slight weight on her head and looked up at Rufus, her innocent eyes filled with confusion.

Unaware of what she was thinking, Rufus's fingers continued to stroke her hair. The warmth of his touch on her scalp carried a subtle tenderness.

Selena felt a fiery heat where he touched her and quickly lowered her head, trying to hide her panic.

Why was he looking at her with such gentle eyes?!

Unable to tolerate it any longer, Ava slapped Rufus's hand away, pulled Selena to her side, and ruffled her hair.

Selena tilted her head and gave Ava a stern glare.

Ava acted as if nothing had happened, looking away and raising her eyebrows provocatively at Rufus.
