CHAPTER 4  The First Rush....

Summer 2005. Now a gang had completed to six people. Six people although they may be different but were drawn together  towards a common goal, self-worth and belongingness. They have concluded their second year in the university and so time for  leisure and pleasure.

It had been planned that they would spend a week at one of the boys' parents cottage . there they brought their paraphernalia, a few sachets of crystalline substance or dried leaves of that kind, matches, tinfoil and some other things like movie discs, band recordings and didn’t forget to stocked up  the fridge with beers and rations they will be needing for the whole week.

There parents didn’t mind whatever they do. Guess they are too busy making more loads of money. And besides they will always be there when they are in trouble and taking care of everything. So practically nothing to worry.  But at the same time and most of the time, they feel they don’t exist at all. And their parents were more happy to get them out of their way.

Drugs were common for wealthy kids to have access to. It was like a competition  among drug operators to have these kind of kids to be there  regulars. Sure cash they were.

For these youngsters it was not about getting high. It was about being their own master and defying the authorities in the biggest way possible. They would pass the pipe around and mocked at their schools and all those so-called educators, the police authorities with their dumb judgment and raised bottles for parents that love them . They say it in most sarcastic way.

But among these six only four people were rich kid, the two other kids have their own reason. Jason was accepted in the university by scholarship while Peter wanted to be with Meghan.

Peter Hughes came from a modest family but his parents can afford to send him to college taking degree of their choice. He was just there because it is what expected of him. He wanted to spend most of his time alone and studying. How did he get tangled with this gang? Meghan! Yes. No other reason but Meghan.

It was autumn of 2005 as he is trying to recall the time when he first witnessed the incident. He was having a lazy walk in the forest near the boarding house when he heard laughter from a distance.  There were five of them and only one girl. He had known idea who they were and never intended to ever get involve with them. He continued spying on them when he saw someone approach them. And from where he was hiding he can clearly hear what they were talking about.

“I am  telling the school office about this!” he shouted, as he was aware that the five  are having drug session. The five fell dead silent. But not for fear but of rage. Someone had appear to disturb them. The boy was also known at taunting other students and was not backing away though he saw how upset the group was.

Jason Elliott  had the most to lose if he were kicked out, sooner they got hold of the little twit, he was the one Raymond  pushed forward. And it was he who landed the first blow.

“You  know my father can crush your father’s little business, if he wants to!” the boy shouted,  “so fuck off, Jason, you pile of shit! Otherwise it’ll be worst for you. Let go of me , you idiot.”

They hesitated.  The boy had made life terribly difficult  for many of his classmates. His parents and older siblings who studied there were contributors to the school fund. A fund where scholars like Jason, was dependent on.

Raymond stepped forward. He didn’t have the same financial concerns. “How much do you want to keep your mouth shut?” he said ,meaning it.

“ha! No matter how much money you offer, one call to my father, and he’ll send me double that amount” snorted and mockingly said the boy as he spat in Raymond’s face.

“Damn you, you little shit.” And punching the boy. “one word and we’ll kill you.” As he pushed him hard against a tree trunk, breaking a pair of ribs.

For a moment he lay there in pain but eyes were defiant.

“Now your choice, take the money or we will  kill you?”  Raymond was now standing above him. The boy made no reply and reaction. Raymond gazed at his face intensely as if searching, his mind wanted to experiment. After a moment he whacked the boy’s head so hard that the boy now screamed with pain. The reaction fascinated Raymond, so he struck again, smiling. It was a tremendous feeling.

Later he told the others how that slap had been the real rush of his life.

“My turn” Lucas had said. He had a more massive but muscular build.  He clenched  his fist and landed hard on the boy’s cheek.

As Peter continued his observation, he turned to Meghan.  He saw her in a blank state and all of a sudden she was laughing like a lunatic.

They brought back the boy to the school already very frightened of them. He was later picked up by the ambulance. They were worried that he might rat on them, but he never did. In fact ,he never returned.  It was rumoured that his father took him back to Hong Kong.

The following morning Peter decided to get close to Meghan and being in the gang was the only way. So he told the group leader what he witnessed but he wished them no harm, that all he wanted was to be in their circle. He felt at that time that he wanted to protect Meghan from those devils.

But the adventure of the gang did not stop there. One day  they went to the forest and found a lost dog. They attacked and beat it to death. The blows never stopped until each was satisfied.

They are now unstoppable.
