Chapter 11“You did WHAT?!?” My dad yells at me in the hall right outside the hospital room that Alex and Alpha Leo are currently in. “His leg was broken in several places and it looked like he severed an artery what did you want me to do dad just let him bleed to death before we got him to the hospital”“Look you did a great and brave thing tonight but you could’ve killed yourself using that much magic. I’m honestly surprised you’re even standing here and not unconscious out in the woods” “Surprisingly, Dad, I feel ok. A little weak, but I am craving some chocolate, you wouldn’t happen to have any in your office” “What? Chocolate, maybe we should take you into an exam room and get you checked out just to be sure”“Really Dad, I’m fine go check on Alex. I think I’ll head home” “Not so fast young lady you’re going to come in there with me. Let’s go, NOW” Dad knocks lightly on the door and enters the room where it looks like Alpha Leo and Alex are in deep conversation. “Well your
Chapter 12 Sierra All night I couldn’t sleep, and found myself tossing and turning in bed. Using that much magic should have completely drained me to the point where I should be unconscious right now, but for some reason I’m more awake then ever. I kept playing over and over in my head what happened. Why were there even rogues in the woods? How did they get past the protection spell? Alex obviously was protecting me, but why? I guess part of the treaty is to protect the town. Is that the only reason he jumped in front of me? My mind continues racing and reliving everything that happened and all the possible alternative outcomes had Alex and Alpha Leo not been there. I obviously couldn’t just let him die. Would we have made it back to the town hospital in time? Maybe. Even now thinking about losing him is making my chest ache. I seriously can’t be feeling this way I barely even know him! For some reason I feel this strong magnetic pull towards him. I’ve never felt this way about anyo
Chapter 13 Alex “So you and my baby sister huh?” Dave looks at me. “Look it’s not like…” He stops me mid-sentence and puts his hand up. “You know I have to give you the big brother ‘don’t you dare break her heart speech’ don’t you? Although I’m pretty sure she can handle herself, I wouldn’t be her big brother without at least mildly threatening you” Dave says, smiling at me. “Well I give you credit for threatening a werewolf especially an Alpha at that” I laugh his way. “You really don’t give us enough credit do you? From what I hear you needed her more last night than she needed you, but don’t worry I won’t go blabbing to your pack about how a witch just happened to save your life” Dave smiles warmly, clearly teasing me. “Believe me I am very grateful for what your sister did for me last night, I just wish I could repay the favor.” “I’m sure you’ll think of something” Dave says as he makes his way back towards his bedroom. “Hey Dave, wait a second, do you think the elders w
Sierra Once Alex left on Sunday I finally felt like I could breathe again. I definitely needed the clarity and the distance from him. I find myself replaying every word, and every look and realize how ridiculous I was being. He was a stranger and I was probably never going to see him again. I threw myself into my school work for the entire day on Sunday, welcoming the distraction so that I would not think of him. I was typing up my English essay listening to music in my headphones when I noticed my mom standing in the doorway to my room. I pulled my earbuds out queuing her to talk, but she just stood there looking at me. “Mom…. You ok?” I asked her with a quizzical look on my face. “Sierra” she said sighing and moving to sit on the edge of my bed. “I am so very proud of you for what you did yesterday, but I am also so very mad at you” she said. “Look, mom you don’t need to worry about me. I’m fine, and I certainly couldn’t stand by and do nothing” I said shrugging it off. “I k
Chapter 15 AlexIt wasn’t until Friday morning that Elder Scott made his way over to pack lands. If I was going to have him check the border I wanted to make sure it was done before the start of our fall festival, especially with Sierra and Alyssa visiting. I met him at a local park on the very edge of the pack lands and we would work our way all the way along the border. “Good morning Alex”, Elder Scott said. He was dressed very differently than the last time I saw him. He looked so much younger and carefree dressed in basketball shorts, a t-shirt, and sneakers. He must’ve noticed me taking in his attire because he said, “Well I wasn’t going to go walking through the woods with slacks on now was I?” I chuckled. “I guess not” I replied.“Well we might as well get started, lead the way Alex” “You know, I didn’t realize that magic spells just fade away or become weaker” I questioned him. “Well the original spell was put on these lands over ten years ago by Elder Wynn himself. I do
Chapter 1Sierra Monday Another wonderful Monday morning getting ready for the first day of my senior year. It seems bittersweet to be starting my last year of high school. I hadn’t put much thought into what I was going to do after graduation, but one thing was for certain, I was getting the hell out of this small town. I want to see the world, experience what life could be like outside the walls and boundaries of this town and my family. I want to experience culture, and music, and food, and everything that comes with it. The places on my bucket list are endless. Unfortunately it is crazy expensive to travel, but I have been working since junior high to save up enough money to do some traveling after graduation. My family has always isolated themselves in this small town. They wanted to live some place that they could feel free to practice their magic. I should mention that we are definitely not your typical family, but growing up in a magical family has its pros and cons. Mom alw
Chapter 2Friday had finally come. I was at my locker packing up my books to take home for the weekend when Alyssa came skipping down the hallway. “Uhm hello, did you really think you could keep it a secret?” Alyssa asked. “What on earth are you talking about” I asked her with a quizzical look.“I heard you’re going to have Alpha Leo and his fine as hell son staying at your house”, Alyssa squealed with excitement “Uh, yea the council asked dad if we could host them for Elder Wynn’s ceremony. With dad working a lot with the pack doctor lately I guess they thought it was a good idea. Sorry I didn’t realize it would be such a big deal to you” I said to her, slamming my locker shut.“I’ve heard he’s hot as hell. I wouldn’t mind getting me a piece of that”, Alyssa reiterated as she bit her lower lip. I rolled my eyes at her. I guess her and Jace broke up, yet again. “Well I doubt I’ll see him at all I have a few shifts at the bakery this weekend and a ton of homework so…” Alyssa roll
Chapter 3Alex I don’t know why my dad insists I go to this stupid elder ceremony. I know we have to be nice to them and pretend to get along, but I was really looking forward to a nice run on the equinox. We don’t have to shift except for on the full moon, but any type of celestial holiday or event our wolves tend to get a little pent up. There was no chance I would be able to shift in front of a coven of witches. I doubt half of them have ever even seen an actual werewolf in person. Dad said we’re staying with their doctor and his family. Apparently he has a daughter a little younger than me that’s still in high school. No doubt my dad is trying to force me to make friends with them. “Be nice, courteous, and respectful”, he always says. What am I a Boy Scout? I know as future alpha of one of the largest packs in the northeast that I should be ok with all the pomp and circumstance, but I find these types of things incredibly dull. I’m what you would call an adrenaline junkie. I wo
