Aurora sat up, squinting her eyes to reduce the effect of the rays of the sun. She was in a tent, a well furnished one with its door open.
The last thing she remembered was offering her blood to Sebastian and then him losing control.
She rubbed the back of her neck. She felt tired, like she just woke up from a very long sleep. She looked down at herself, noticing the new clothes and how clean and fresh she looked and felt.
Sebastian… where was he?
She got out of the tent, the wind blowing her hair and gown all around.
"Bastian?" She called, going around the tent. The sound of running water drew her attention and she followed it, walking down the cleared out path. The leaves were falling, the cold would be here soon.
She found him at the stream, filling two water satchels. He paused, catching her scent.
She walked closer while he stood, turning around to face her. Why did she feel nervous?
His cheeks tugged up and s
8 months later… The loud wails of a child filled the dungeon cell. "It's a girl!" The midwife announced cheerfully. Julian received his child with tears. Livia sat up weakly. "She looks just like you," Julian smiled, placing the child in her arms. The midwife smiled at them and walked out. "Tell the queen it's a girl child, she need not bother about killing the poor child," she whispered to a guard. The guard marched off. "Oh, it's enough," she cooed, entering back into the cell with a false smile, "let's have the mother and child cleaned up." Julian paced about the well furnished Brevian royal room. He felt out of place in the sparkly clean room with his dirty clothes and body. He wondered why the queen suddenly requested for them to be moved out of the dungeon. Livia was brought into the room. She was in tears. "Where is our child?" He queried the guard who brought her in, taking her into his arms. The guard fixed him with a hard glare and went back out, locking them in. "
"Why does she lie so still?" Livia queried anxiously."The unknown knows she is the only one that can stop her," Sebastian answered with a sigh. He was sitted on the floor, cradling Aurora in his arms."And so she did something to make her incapable of stopping her," Julian continued, "she put her to sleep."Livia shut her eyes with a frustrated groan. She joined Sebastian on the floor, rocking her baby gently. The baby was wrapped in swaddling clothes and she lay silent, blinking at her mother with bewildered eyes."Oh baby," Livia cooed, kissing her gently."You must be able to do something, can't you?" Julian beckoned, squatting beside his wife, "the Brevians will capture our city any moment and bless our souls, only Zeus knows what fate awaits us.""Then you should never have foolishly divulged our secrets," Sebastian snapped."What did you want me to do?" Julian cried in defense, "she would have killed our child!""You should have dallied until we showed up. Surely, you know how
Aurora looked around, stared at her husband then looked down at the cause of her pain. She scrambled up, Sebastian following."What are you…" he queried, watching her every move.Aurora sneezed, pushing hair off her face."We have to get out of here and save our city, our empire," she spoke, her words stumbling on each other. She shook her head and concentrated her mind on the cage surrounding them while they watched but hard as she tried, the cage wouldn't obey her."It isn't listening to me," she spoke, opening her eyes and looking back at them.Sebastian stepped forward."How's that possible?" He asked."Some things are not meant to be."The sweet musical voice had Aurora gasping in surprise. Her eyes darted around but she was no where to be found, the moon goddess."That's not the unknown," Julian whispered, pulling Livia close."Aurora," the moon goddess sighed, "I shall not say that I regret blessing you with so powerful a gift but perhaps, I could have done things in a differen
"Guess what?" Aurora beamed at Cynthia the next morning."I know," Cynthia smiled sadly, "today is the last day of school before the Christmas break. You don't need to rub it in."They were in the cafeteria, at a table right in the middle of the large noisy room."No," Aurora lowered her voice to a whisper, "I met a handsome guy yesterday, at the museum."Cynthia gasped in excitement."Oh my gosh, Rora, you finally have a crush," she squealed."Who has a crush?" Daniel slid into the seat next to Aurora.Aurora rolled her eyes, brushing off the hand he placed around her shoulder."Aurora does," Cynthia answered smugly, "so now you can back off."Daniel frowned. He leaned on the table, his gaze fixed on Aurora."Who is it?""None of your business," she spoke and stuffed her mouth full with fries."It is," Daniel said in exasperation, "I like you, you know that. I've liked you for a long time and you pr
Sebastian was surprised that his new friend stayed quiet for the next one hour they spent reading his comic book together. She didn't mind that he was already way into the book."Okay, that is funny," she chuckled, "how can one punch do all that?"Somehow, during all that time, her head had somehow found its way to his shoulder with her arm as a pillow."In the world of comics and Anime? Yes, one punch can do all that," he answered, checking his wristwatch."I have to go now," he said to her, shutting the book."Oh," she gave him a bit of space. She suddenly seemed shy."Water?" He offered after taking a drink. She accepted it and drained his bottle of water."Okay," he chuckled, putting the bottle back into his back. He rose, she did too."I'll see you tomorrow," he said and turned away. She suddenly jumped in front of him and tossed herself into his arms.Startled, he staggered back, forced to clutch her lean frame."What are you doing?" He sighed, hugging her back."I suddenly miss
Twenty minutes later, she found herself peeping at him through the bookshelf. He was reading the comic book. She longed to sit next to him again and put her head on his shoulder."What is stopping me then?" She mumbled and got up.Sebastian looked up, feeling someone hover over him.Aurora."Are you mad at me?" She asked quietly, looking so innocent and hurt, he felt guilty for a split second."No," he answered, "I don't get mad at strangers."She looked even more hurt."Okay then," she suddenly smiled, a fake one and sat next to him, "we are going to change that.""I want to read alone," he insisted."I want to read with you," she said blankly. He made to get up but she held his jacket. He sighed."What do you want?" He asked her with a stern gaze. "To be your friend," she answered simply."I do not want to be your friend," he retorted."You are lying," she rolled her eyes. She shifted closer and laid her head against his shoulder like the last time with her arm as a head rest."Rai
"Wait, they became farmers," Aurora laughed, flipping the page. She gasped, reading the next line."Empress Aurora got pregnant?"*It was night and it was full moon. In the little cottage they shared with Julian and Livia, they could hear the faraway howls of wolves."Perhaps there are still more werewolves out there," Aurora said to her husband as they stepped out."I think so too," he smiled down at her.It was over a year since the moon goddess stripped them of their powers. It was a blessing, mostly, because the peace and tranquility they enjoyed at the moment, they knew they would never have had it possessing powers. She still feared the unknown finding them. Not just because they were powerless and would not be able to stop her but because of the little human growing in her belly."Bastian," she called when they got to the stream. The waters glimmered in the moon light and the chirping of the night birds added a mystical feel to the night."You sound worried," he turned to her
She came in late the next day and she found him pacing about his little spot."Hey," she greeted, getting his attention. He came to her."Hey, I'm sorry about yesterday. I… I… it's complicated and I…""Then don't worry about it," she smiled, "a little bit of mystery only makes you more attractive."She patted his cheek and sat down. She looked up to find him blushing."Oh no," she laughed, "he has fallen for me finally.""Shut up," he snapped, using his palms to cover his cheek."Don't be shy," she spread her arms, winking at him, "we both know I liked you first. It's not a big deal, it'll pass soon.""Right," he eyed her and sat next to her, "I'll hold that as consolation. A few days at most and I'll be free from this evil."She gasped, "I'm hurt."Then she squealed, "he likes me back!"His hand shot out to cover her mouth."Shhhh, don't be so loud.""Why?" She wiggled he
