Chapter 55: Back to life

"Why does she lie so still?" Livia queried anxiously.

"The unknown knows she is the only one that can stop her," Sebastian answered with a sigh. He was sitted on the floor, cradling Aurora in his arms.

"And so she did something to make her incapable of stopping her," Julian continued, "she put her to sleep."

Livia shut her eyes with a frustrated groan. She joined Sebastian on the floor, rocking her baby gently. The baby was wrapped in swaddling clothes and she lay silent, blinking at her mother with bewildered eyes.

"Oh baby," Livia cooed, kissing her gently.

"You must be able to do something, can't you?" Julian beckoned, squatting beside his wife, "the Brevians will capture our city any moment and bless our souls, only Zeus knows what fate awaits us."

"Then you should never have foolishly divulged our secrets," Sebastian snapped.

"What did you want me to do?" Julian cried in defense, "she would have killed our child!"
