Chapter 78

Laura's POV

I felt my world crumbled apart as I watched Larry's retreating figure walk out of my room. I didn't know if he was right even though I didn't actually want to believe he seemed correct. From his words and look in his eyes, I knew he was pained, and it only brought tears to my eyes as I held unto the dressing table for support. He was disappointed in me, I failed to bring back Mum. I didn't even know where she was or who had captured her. The anonymous caller seemed to be toying with me more and isn't ready to give me back my Mum. Larry has always been closer to Mum, and I'd been closer to Dad, and I understood his tone and pain of speaking to me harshly earlier.

I felt worthless, useless. Never for once, have I tried to save Mum. What if they had really killed her? What if she never returns back to us like Larry pointed out?

Oh—God.

“I'm so worthless, I couldn't even look for her. I'm worthless!” I cried out, smashing the glass of juice in my hand on the wall as it shatt
