Gunner has been busy playing catch up with pack duties along with Hunter. Allison has also been busy now that she has taken on the role of pack accountant. Gunner has assigned me a guard, which I find a bit annoying since he is following me literally everywhere I go. I still haven’t gotten over the title Luna and everyone bowing at me when I walk into a room. It’s definitely a role I need to get use to.
Back in my father’s pack, even though I was the Alpha’s daughter, I still helped out around the house. I helped the kitchen staff cook and sometimes the maid’s clean but here the staff is adamant I don’t help at all which leaves me unsure of what I should do.
“Luna is something troubling you,” my guard, Lucas asks.
“Tell me more about the pack. What do you guys have here? I want to do something of
Katerina“How dare you attack our Luna,” Lucas growls in Jason’s face ready to tear his throat out.I am glad Lucas is one I can trust.“What is going on here? Kat are you okay,” Gunner asks as he takes in the scene and the four children clinging to me.Hunter and Dahlia are behind him and they looks around the house and are disgusted by what they see.“Jason what is going on here?”“Your mate is trying to shut me down and take those children from me. I am their guardian.”“Then tell me why you have abused them! As their guardian you should protect them not hurt them,” I yell at the man.“They are lying. I have never laid a finger on them.”I let out a growl as vines break from the ground and snake a
Gunner I didn’t hesitate to accept that my mate wanted to adopt these four children and raise them as our own. I didn’t even question it. Normally, as an Alpha, Apollo would be against the idea but he too agrees with our mate in taking on the responsibility of raising them as our own. Apollo agrees that we have failed these children. I cannot believe pups in my own pack have been neglected. Clearly we trusted the wrong person to care for them. I knew Jason growing up and he too was an orphan. Both parents died against an attack by the Dark Coven when we were like twelve. I figured he would be the best lycan I had for the job given he knew the struggles of being an orphan himself. I didn’t realize he had so much resentment against me for something I couldn’t control. I am just glad he hasn’t found his mate now that he can because I will have to banish him from the pack. I do not tolerate child abuse and he is lucky I don’t kill him. ‘Dinner is ready Alpha,’ al
Happy New Year!!! Enjoy an extra two chapters today!!!KaterinaFirst thing in the morning I sneak to the children’s room and find them sitting and watching tv. They keep flipping through the channels and I am sure they have never watched cartoons before. They soon find the princess show called Princess Sofia and Savannah gets so excited over it the boys leave it for her.“Good morning,” I say catching the attention of all four of them.“Luna Kat,” Savannah cries as she rushes to me.“Well good morning to you too. Do you guys want some pancakes for breakfast?”“Real pancakes? With chocolate chips,” asks Sean that it breaks my heart.Something so simple, something that was just natural to me growing up in my household, gets them so excited.
GunnerWe head into the conference room where the wait staff have already laid out several breakfast items. There are assorted fruits, sweets and drinks. We all fill a plate and take our seats as the elders begin to file in the room. I raise and eyebrow at Hunter when my cousin walks in.‘What is he doing here?’‘I am not sure Alpha. I was not made aware of his presence for this meeting.’“What are you doing here Hank?”“Elder Marion invited me,” he smirks at me“This is a meeting of the elders,” I all but growl out.“Lucas and Hunter are here. What makes them so special” Hank whines.“Hunter is my Beta, he is required to be present in these meetings. Lucas is Kateria’s personal guard. It’s his job to follow her everywhere. He answers to no one but her. Not even my commands can over rule hers.”I can see that last part shocks
KaterinaI never realize me not being a Lycan would be a problem when I accepted to be Gunner’s mate and Luna. I have been so use to everyone liking me, mainly because of who my father and parents are, that this is uncharted territory for me. I know Gunner wanted to rip their heads off but he held back and let me handle it on my own. I told him I needed to win my battles here in order to gain any respect. I cannot hide behind him and let him win my battles for me. I am the Luna. These last few days have been nice. The children seem happier and even Samuel has started to relax a bit, being the kid he was meant to be. Jolene has been home schooling them to see where they are academically and unfortunately they are way behind. There is no way we could stick them in school until she can catch them up.Lucas has been kind enough to show me the library and pull out books on the pack’s history. I want to know all that I can so I can ensure I lead properly.
Katerina‘Rogues!’We hear through the mind link and I don’t think twice as I jump from the balcony onto the roof all the way down to the ground.“Luna wait! Shit!”Lucas follows me as I take off in the direction the scent of blood and burnt flesh is heaviest. Sure enough I find the rogues attacking my people. I see two children cowering as a third, probably the oldest, stands in front of the younger two to protect them. I shift and immediately charge the rogue and slam into him before he reaches the children.I stand in front of the children, snarling at the wolf as he bares his fangs at me. I prepare as he charges but he never reaches us as a large brown lycan grabs the rogue by the throat and breaks his neck.‘My Luna,’ I hear in my head and realize it&
GunnerI awake to the annoying beep I am all to familiar with and immediately know I am in the hospital. My chest is killing me and I notice a small scar still healing. I sit up and take in my surroundings when I notice Kat lying motionless in the bed next to me.“Kat!”I fling the hospital blankets off of me and make my way next to her.“Alpha you shouldn’t be moving yet,” I hear my aunt’s voice but don’t respond. She sighs before checking my vitals and I let her without leaving Kat’s side.“What happened.”“The arrow that struck you was laced with a poison that took me time to figure out. It had wolfsbane, which was obvious. Oleander, which is why it took you so long to heal as it blocked your healing ability but you also had moonseed in your system which confuses me. It
GunnerWhat I find surprises me most of all. A young she wolf, maybe eighteen, cowers in the corner. She appears innocent and frail, nothing like I would think these rogues that attacked would be.“Where did you find her,” I ask a warrior.“We followed the rogues back to their camp.”Fear rolls off of her and I know something isn’t right.“Tell me all that I want to know and no harm will come to you.”“Alpha please, I was nothing but a slave. Kidnapped from my own pack and forced to renounce my old pack or they would kill my sister. Please save my sister.”“Slow down, what do you mean.”These rogues have been working together and have been kidnapping young she-wolves and forcing them to go rogue and then selling them as sex slaves. I wonder if the other packs have realized what has been happening and it makes me wonder how many young lycans in my pack did I belie
