Emily's POV
“What are you doing?” he said.
“Just because I'm taking my time to make a decision doesn't mean I won't consider you.” I said with a soft smile. “I just want to preserve my womanly honour you know…”
As Alan leaned upwards, I snatched the gate pass from his side and let it fall under the bed. He didn't seem to notice. I got back up on my feet and watched Alan stare at me.
“Okay, fine. I'll let you have your moment.”
With that, he walked out of my room and slammed the door shut behind him.
As soon as he left, I laid on the floor to pick the gate pass that I saw. I waited a few minutes to pass and then the door opened, revealing a maid with a tray containing food.
“Thank goodness you're here.”
I instantly had an idea in my mind that seemed fruitful.
“Hey, what's your name?” I asked the maid.
“It's Mae.” She said which made me nod.
“Good. Now could you please swap clothes with me?”
“What do you mean?” The maid asked.
“As your future queen, you don't get to question me.” I said firmly which led to Mae bowing her head down.
She placed the tray of food on the side table and started to remove her piece of clothing. As soon as she was done, I switched clothes with her.
When I was done dressing up in her maid outfit, I commanded her. “Stay still on the bed and don't let anyone find out that it's not me.”
The maid seemed scared but she ultimately bowed her head.
I put the gate pass in my pocket and walked out the room. Then I stared down while walking down the hallway. I ended up going to Aiden’s room. I knocked on the door, and heard his voice.
“Come in.”
I opened the door and walked in. The moment Aiden saw me, he seemed scared that it was me.
“What are you doing, Emily!” He whisper-yelled.
I brought my hand into my pocket and showed Aiden. “I got the gate pass. I don't know how long I'm going to get away with this untill Alan finds me out.”
Aiden sighed. “Now I have no choice but to get you out today.”
I looked at Aiden and tried to calm down as I possibly could but seeing him with that fearful expression on his face made me worry. Have I put myself in trouble that I am unable to get out of?
“Quick, come with me.” Aiden put the files on his table aside quickly and led me outside of his room, we passed through the hallway and I kept my head down until we arrived at a corner.
Aiden pushed aside a stone by the wall and a secret hallway appeared.
“Oh,” I said with my hand covering my mouth.
Aiden grabbed me and we both entered the secret hallway and it shut as soon as we got in.
“Are we safe?” I asked.
“For now.” Aiden responded.
The secret hallway was littered with little flames on candles.
I grabbed one by the wall straps to illuminate the secret hallway.
As soon as we got to the other side of the secret hallway, I was surprised when I saw Alan. He was holding a heart in his hand which made me jump back and hide behind Aiden.
“Brother,” Aiden said, his gaze fixated on Alan.
“Would have never thought that you'd betray me brother.” Alan said angrily.
“And you,” Alan turned to me, his eyes filled with rage and anger. “I’m not letting you go. I need to kill you to survive.”
Tears rolled down my cheeks. “Now you're not even hiding it?”
Alan scoffed, looking at Aiden. “Well, I guess you told her everything.”
“Whose heart is in your hands, brother?”
“The maid she got to swap clothes with her.”
“Mae,” I whispered sadly. “You killed Mae?”
Aiden grabbed Alan by the head and slammed his head against the wall.
“You are too bitter, brother. How could you kill your own?”
“You know for a long time that I did and you didn't have any problems with that. Why are you now complaining?” Alan said, his voice full with passion.
“I was disgusted with you brother, and I still am. I hoped that you would change but now I see that you will never! Killing your own pack member, do you think it makes you cool? Make you masculine?”
Alan dropped the heart onto the floor and held Aiden by the neck with his bloody hands.
“And you think you're cool, saving Emily from my hands. Tell the truth, brother. You're into her, aren't you? That's the only reason that you are trying to save her.”
“It doesn't matter if I'm into her or not. What matters is that I'm not going to let her be killed by you for no reason at all, just like you killed her maid. You're a terror to yourself and those that surround you, Alan. Take a deep look at yourself and you'll know exactly what I mean. But I doubt you'd get it, you have no emotional intelligence for it at all.”
Aiden banged Alan’s head onto the wall and he fell onto the ground, limp and frozen.
Aiden turned to me. “He passed out, this is an opportunity for us to get you out of here.”
“What about Mae?” I said while attempting to shake the thought out of my mind. The thought of how Mae would have felt while Alan dugged out her heart from her chest. How her last breath would have sounded like.
“Emily, look at me, it doesn't matter now.” Aiden said calmly.
“What do you mean?” I asked him.
“Whoever Mae is, she's dead now. Nothing you do will change or distort that fact. The only thing that's left for you to do is go ahead. You have to leave before my brother wakes up.”
“I don't know how to leave,” I said loudly. “The guards outside would find me and ask questions and—”
“—I’ll go with you.” Aiden interrupted.
Emily's POV The next thing I knew, we were out of the secret hallway with Alan forgotten in it. We walked to the garden and one of the guards stopped us. I kept my head bowed so that the guard did not recognize me.“So why are you stopping me?” Aiden asked which led the guard to clear his throat.“I don't mean to stop you, I swear, sir. I just want you to know who's with you.”“She's a maid, now my woman. Do you have anything against that?” Aiden asked angrily, causing the guard to clear his throat and look at Aiden with a bowed head.“I'm sorry, sir. I didn't… I didn't think about this well. You may leave.”Aiden grabbed my wrist and pulled me along with him as we walked away from the guard.I looked at Aiden, having a lot to say but keeping it in my mind. The moment we arrived at the gate, the guards in charge grunted upon seeing us.I brought my hand to my pocket, brought out the gate pass and handed it over to Aiden. He collected the gate pass and lifted it so the guards could s
Emily's POV She had short bob hair with red makeup around her eyes. She was beautiful and had a very sweet smile.“How are you?” She asked sweetly while I brought my right hand to my chest fearfully.“You poisoned me.”The woman shook her head and glanced at me with squinted eyes. “I don't understand what it is that you are saying.”“Are you saying that just to sound wise?” I asked which led her to frown.“I know I have been poisoned by you. Why else would I spit so much blood?”The woman sighed. “Of course, you think I posioned you when I only fed you some herbs to clean out your insides.”I looked around me. It was true that I felt lighter on the inside but why would I spit out blood?“You had some internal bleeding due to your fall but thankfully it healed in time.”“So you mean to say you didn't poison me?” I asked as I stood up to my feet with some struggle.“Yes, if I did, you wouldn't be here as I speak.”I stumbled forward and the woman led me back to the brick bed which was
Emily's POV “I wish I had more time with her,” Said Emilianna.“I don't mean to sound cruel but life doesn't always give us the life that we want.” I said.Emilianna chortled. “I can tell you didn't grow much on love. You're too harsh,”“Is that too much for you?” I asked.Emilianna sighed. “I forgot to ask you why you were at the spot where I found you. What's your history? That is, if you're willing to share.”I smirked. “You really want to know?”Emilianna nodded. “Yes, please share.”“Actually, I'd like to keep that to myself for now.”“Oh, looks like you haven't gone far in trusting people enough to tell them what you feel about life.”“Honestly, Emilianna. Would you blame me? I've walked this life wanting love but what to do when I don't find it? I can't just kill myself for it now. Can I?”“Listen Sweetheart, love isn't in a person. It's in the things you do. If you want to make yourself feel loved, it could be as simple as doing your hair so dancing in the moonlight. It coul
Emily's POV “What do you want to do?” I asked myself out loud, but then I decided to keep my thoughts to myself.“Don't worry about anything,” I said to myself. “Everything will work out eventually.”Then I ran my fingers through my tangy hair and sighed. How could I bring myself to sleep at ease when Maron did something so horrible to Emilianna's daughter and she didn't know. Wouldn't it be easier to get rid of me while I'm asleep? I sat up on the bed.“No, I will not sleep.”“You will sleep.” I heard a voice at the entrance of the cave causing me to sigh. It was Emilianna. My mind was fearful but my heart was calm. I wanted to tell Emilianna what I had heard but I just couldn't bring myself to. She wouldn't trust a stranger over her pack member.“Emilianna,” I said, and she smiled as she walked over and caressed my face.“Why aren't you sleeping yet?”“I don't feel comfortable.” I responded.“You don't feel comfortable enough to sleep or what?”“Yes.” I said, and she smiled. “Shoul
Emily's POV “It's the Alpha’s decision to make. It seems if we don't accept you, the Alpha won't accept us either. And from the looks of it, you're highly valuable to the Alpha.” The guy with black skin said.“How am I valuable to the Alpha?” I asked.“I mean it's pretty obvious, she let you sleep in her late daughter's cave.”I hummed. So the cave I slept in actually belonged to Emilianna's late daughter. I didn't know how to feel about that.“My name is Adam by the way.” He said which made me nod.“Right, Adam.”“Come on, let's go. I'm curious to see how you hunt.” Maron said and I nodded.I was given a bow and an arrow and I held onto it firmly as we were led to the woods. There was a group of deers and some pigs in the woods.Maron whispered to me. “Kill one, let's see how good you are.”I knew that this test depended on me doing well. That was the only was for me to get any atom of respect from this pack. Knowing they were rogue wolves, it was easier to realize with them that ev
Emily's POV “You alright?” She asked me and I nodded.“I'm fine.”“You haven't had anything to eat, have you?”“Not today.” I answered.“Come with me, there's probably something for you to have in the kitchen.”“Right.”I followed Penelope to the kitchen and it was filled with many chefs who were making many things.Penelope turned to one of them, “please make carrot soup for two.”“Okay, no problem.” The chef said and went to start a meal from scratch.“Is carrot soup that good?” I asked Penelope. “I've never had it before.”“Oh it's so nutritious. It heals your gut. I Iearned from my grandma that if you want to heal your brain, it all starts with the gut.”“Really?” I said.“Sure.”We sat outside the kitchen and Penelope sighed at me.“I don't know why but I feel like I can talk to you about anything.” she said and I raised a brow.“Really?”“Yes, that's why I wanted to connect with your wolf when we were at the woods but I couldn't.”“Right.”When the food came, I was grateful to
Emily's POV I stared blankly at Emilianna. My heart was beating so fast, I could feel it in my throat. I didn’t know how to begin. The words were there, but they were stuck. They felt too big, too heavy to say out loud."Emily," Emilianna said softly, her voice calm and gentle. "I’m here. I’m listening. Whatever it is, just tell me."I swallowed hard, trying to find my voice. "I... I know something," I began, my voice shaking. "Something important."Emilianna nodded, her eyes encouraging. "Go on," she urged, her tone patient and kind.I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. "It’s about Maron," I whispered, my voice barely above a whisper. "He... he killed your daughter."Emilianna didn’t react the way I expected. She didn’t gasp or look shocked. Instead, she remained calm, her eyes soft but steady. "I know," she said quietly.I blinked, confused. "You... you know?" I asked, my voice full of disbelief."Yes, Emily," she replied, her voice gentle but firm. "I’ve known for a long
Emily's povWe both froze the moment we saw him, but I got even more scared, slowly standing up to my feet. My hands shivered. The look in his eyes didn't seem like he was excited to see us."Quite a bonding..." He uttered, and tried moving closer to where we stood. However, we slowly backed away, our heart drumming. What the hell is he doing here, what did he want from us? I pondered inwardly when he suddenly spoke out, his voice low, and evil."You're scared..." He said, as I swallowed. Why wouldn't I be? After everything I knew about him.I slowly turned my head towards Emilianna who still had her eyes fixed on him. Her face was covered in sweat, and I noticed that she was trying so hard to push down the lump that got stuck in her throat. "You think you all can know the truth about me, and get away with it?" He asked, inching closer as we moved further back."ANSWER ME!!!" He roared, and we both flinched."There's nothing here for you. We were just relaxing, and you came here to i
Emily's POV “Going somewhere?” She asked me.“As a matter of fact, yes. But I'll be back soon.”Beth looked at me from up to down. “Well, you can go but be careful, there might be some cruel werewolves lurking about.”“Don't worry about it, I'm pretty cruel myself.”I winked at Beth and went to the horse and carriage not far from the house and began to lead it into the woods. I found some carrots on the ground and I fed it to the horse as well as some water. When I was done, I walked where Viper had been killed and saw that his body was still there. I removed his body away from the tree and checked his pockets only to see a purse. I grabbed it and checked it only to see that it contained silver. I kept the purse in my dress pocket and found something I could dig the ground with. Then I buried Viper in a far away distance and headed back to Beth's hut. By now, it was dark and Beth was standing outside looking worried.“Finally, you came back.” She told me, looking nervous.“Of cours
Emily's POV I rushed out of the room and went to Beth.“Beth, help me. My friend passed out.”Beth gave me a look. “What? But he should be fine now if he wakes up.”“He did wake up and then he passed out while we were talking.”“Maybe he was just too sleepy and then he passed out.”“Please come check him out.”Beth sighed, “Okay.”Then she walked to the room Fayne was in with me rushing behind her. When she went to check him, her eyes widened and she seemed a little panicked.“Why? What's going on?” I asked her and she shook her head at me.Then she continued to check Fayne's body as well as his pulse. When she eventually untied his wound, she sighed as she turned to me.“He seemed to have been poisoned.”“Poisoned?”I thought of how Fayne was shot and then remembered how brutal Matteo was. If he intended to kill me then he wouldn't let my slave live either least he try to avenge me if something should happen to me.“Can you cure him?” I asked her.She sighed. “The poison seemed to h
Emily's POV I was about to leave when I heard him murmur, “Don't go, Emily. Don't leave me.”I looked at him painfully and smiled, “It's alright, Fayne. You'll be fine. You're a strong man.”Then I walked out of my room and flipped my hair back.Beth was outside, tapping her feet against the ground firmly.“I’m ready,” I told her.“Good.” She accessed me from head to toe and then shook her head.“No. Something's wrong.”“What's wrong?” I asked her.“Your outfit.” She responded.“Come on with me, I think I have something good to sneak you into. Although it might not be the best but it is something.”I entered the hut with her and she led me to her room. She opened the closet and handed me a dress that was green and soft looking.“Change into this and meet me outside,” she told me.I collected the cloth from her and changed into it and then looked at my reflection in the mirror. I looked like the way that I did when I was living with Fayne. So young and innocent. When I walked outside
Emily's POV “Emily…” he trailed off.I ignored him and led him into the the carriage and once he was seated, I looked at his hand. The blood had permeated through the fabric which I had used to tie his hand.“Fayne,” I whispered and then ripped apart another layer of my dress and tied his hand.“You do not have to do any of this.” He said.A sigh escaped through my lips. “Why are you so stubborn, Fayne?”I ignored him and turned around to leave when I suddenly felt his grip on my hand.“Fayne,” I said as I faced him.“Kiss me,” he said. “Kiss me before I die.”I stood there in confusion and shock. “Fayne, you don't mean that—”He grabbed me closer to him and before I knew it, I leaned forward out of instinct and our lips pressed onto each other. My eyes widened as I stared at Fayne whose eyes were filled with desire and many more emotions that I'd never noticed before.Fear and passion took over me all at once. Did Fayne like me?I pulled away from the kiss, stunned and filled with a
Emily's POV “I'll leave it then to you.”The warrior was about leaving when all of a sudden, Fayne leaned to the left and his leg hit a thistle on the ground causing a sound to be made. The warrior's ear tilted to the side and he looked towards where Fayne and I were hiding.Fayne looked at me with guilt evidently written on his face.“You stay here,” I said with a definite smile on my face. “I'll go face whatever needs to be faced.”Fayne shook his head no but I ignored him and walked out of our hiding place and looked between the carriage rider and the warrior. The carriage rider turned to the warrior and said, “Go, this is between me and the Luna Emily down. If she is to die, at least her honour must be preserved.”“Yes sir,” the warrior said and left me alone with the carriage rider.I looked at my nails and blew on it gently. “So you're not just a carriage rider, huh?”The carriage smirked at me. “My name is Viper, I am a trained assassin for master Matteo.”“I see. So he has yo
Emily's POV “So, let's go.”“Okay.” I responded to the Alpha of Crystal pack who led the way.Fayne looked at me and followed behind me slowly. We headed to the woods and Matteo sniffed the air.“Oh no, something's wrong.” He said.“What?” I raised a brow.“Before, I sensed some scent around here but now it's not the same. Do you think the rogues left?” Matteo looked to the Alpha of the crystal pack.“Well, I'm unsure what is going on but we'll find out won't we?”“There's land at the forefront, maybe if we go there we'll find some clue.” The Luna of Crystal pack said which led me to smile and nod.Internally, I was nervous. I hoped they did not catch Penelope, Adam and the others. If they did, I was unsure if I would be able to help them.Goosebumps covered my skin as we got to the land at the forefront, there was a running wolf that was spotted and his wolf felt very familiar to me.“There's one,” Matteo whispered. He then brought out his bow and arrow that he was keeping around hi
Emily's POV “But Alpha, what is your plan exactly?” Adam asked.“In due time, you'll know.” I responded.“By the way, you and Penelope should get going. Have the others retreat and leave. When my brother's warriors arrive, it'll be hard to leave.”“Your brother?” Adam asked.“Yes, my brother Matteo is from the Donovan pack. He has some influence there.”“Oh, I see.” Adam responded.“By the way, how do we reach out to you?”“In Galahad clan. You just have to find the chance. I'll leave the packhouse every red moon so you can find me by that time.” I responded.Adam sighed. “It really is so glad to see you again, but the jewels you gave are not enough to build a pack house.”“I'll send you more when you come to Galahad clan. But please, be very careful and don't put your life in harm's way. Walk in groups so you won't be targeted.”“Okay, thank you Alpha.”“You should get going now.” I said.“Yes,” Adam turned away while Penelope hesitated and turned towards me. “Can I hug you?”I cr
Emily's POV When I stripped out of my clothes, I got into the pond and sighed from how refreshing the water felt against my skin.“Peace,” I whispered. The fatigue of the travel slowly unraveled from me. I wondered where Fayne was but I knew I didn't have to worry as he was probably going to be somewhere around here.I felt a bit guilty as I'd told him that I'd protect him but right now, I was nowhere anywhere around him. ‘It's okay though, he'll be fine. He's capable than you think.’ my wolf came into the surface, calming me down.I soaked my hair in the water and continued to enjoy the soak, then I heard a growl behind the pond.I leaned forward, gasping while trying to listen closely for any sound. Then I sensed a presence behind me.I turned around in the pond and saw a dark brown wolf with some clothes in its mouth. I got out of the pond and looked at the wolf, somehow feeling some sort of understanding towards it. It just felt like I knew it somehow.“Who are you? And why are
Emily's POV “It's nothing like that. It's just a simple gift to acknowledge our collaboration as allies.”I looked at Matteo.“Are you allowed to talk about that?”Matteo scoffed. “Oh the rider is one of my people, we can say whatever we want around him and nothing bad will happen haha,”“Please take back your gift, I don't want it.”“Well I'm not taking it back so you might as well keep it.”I sighed and placed it on the table.“What's the plan when we get to crystal pack? The deal is that we chase the rogues from the pack but just the two of us can't do that.” I said.“First of all, congratulations on getting back your wolf. Secondly, my people are on the way, they may just arrive a little later.”“I see.”When we arrived at Crystal pack, the Alpha and Luna came out holding each other's hands. The Luna looked at me with a wide smile on her face.“I knew you'd come back, Emily. It's so nice to see you.”“Thank you, Luna.” I responded with a kind smile.Matteo and the Alpha of Crysta
