Emily's POV
I stared blankly at Emilianna. My heart was beating so fast, I could feel it in my throat. I didn’t know how to begin. The words were there, but they were stuck. They felt too big, too heavy to say out loud.
"Emily," Emilianna said softly, her voice calm and gentle. "I’m here. I’m listening. Whatever it is, just tell me."
I swallowed hard, trying to find my voice. "I... I know something," I began, my voice shaking. "Something important."
Emilianna nodded, her eyes encouraging. "Go on," she urged, her tone patient and kind.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. "It’s about Maron," I whispered, my voice barely above a whisper. "He... he killed your daughter."
Emilianna didn’t react the way I expected. She didn’t gasp or look shocked. Instead, she remained calm, her eyes soft but steady. "I know," she said quietly.
I blinked, confused. "You... you know?" I asked, my voice full of disbelief.
"Yes, Emily," she replied, her voice gentle but firm. "I’ve known for a long time."
"Then why haven’t you done anything?" I asked, my voice rising with confusion and frustration. "Why are you just sitting here, knowing what he did?"
Emilianna reached out and placed her hand on mine. Her touch was warm, comforting, but her eyes were filled with a sadness I couldn’t quite understand. "I have my reasons," she said softly. "It’s not something I can act on impulsively."
I shook my head, struggling to make sense of her words. "But he killed your daughter! Don’t you want justice? Don’t you want to make him pay?"
Emilianna gave me a small, sad smile. "Justice isn’t always about immediate action, Emily. Sometimes, we have to be patient and wait for the right time."
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. "I don’t get it," I said, my voice trembling. "How can you be so calm about this? How can you just sit back and do nothing?"
Emilianna stood up, her eyes never leaving mine. "Come with me," she said, her voice gentle but firm. "There’s something I need to show you."
I hesitated, unsure of what she meant. But there was something in her eyes that made me trust her. Slowly, I got up and followed her. We walked in silence, the forest around us quiet except for the soft rustling of leaves under our feet. The air was cool, and the sky was starting to darken as the sun dipped below the horizon.
After what felt like forever, we arrived at a hidden cave, its entrance covered by thick vines. Emilianna gently pulled the vines aside, revealing a dark opening. "This is a place few know about," she said, her voice low. "Come inside."
I followed her into the cave, the air cool and damp. It was dark, but Emilianna seemed to know exactly where she was going. She led me deeper into the cave until we reached a small alcove. There, on a stone pedestal, rested an ancient-looking book.
"This," she said, picking up the book and holding it out to me, "is the Book of Shadows."
I took the book from her, feeling its weight in my hands. The cover was old and worn, the title barely visible. "What is this?" I asked, my voice filled with curiosity.
"It’s a book of knowledge and power," Emilianna explained. "It holds secrets that can help you grow stronger."
"Stronger?" I echoed, looking up at her. "Why do I need to get stronger?"
Emilianna’s eyes softened, and she placed a hand on my shoulder. "Because there are battles ahead, Emily," she said, her voice filled with a mixture of sadness and determination. "And you need to be ready."
I looked down at the book again, my fingers tracing the edges of the cover. "What do you want me to do?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
"Read it," she said simply. "Learn from it. And when the time comes, you’ll understand why I’ve done what I’ve done."
I nodded slowly, a sense of purpose beginning to form within me. "I’ll do my best," I promised.
Emilianna smiled gently. "I know you will, Emily. I believe in you."
We stood there in silence for a moment, the weight of everything hanging heavily in the air. Finally, Emilianna turned and began to walk back towards the cave entrance. I watched her go, my mind racing with thoughts and questions.
Left alone with the Book of Shadows, I sat down on the cool stone floor. The cave was quiet, the only sound the faint dripping of water somewhere in the distance. I opened the book, the pages yellowed with age, and began to read.
The words were strange and foreign, but as I read, I felt a strange sense of understanding wash over me. The book spoke of power, of strength, of things I had never imagined. It was overwhelming, but also exhilarating.
As I continued to read, I felt a new determination growing within me. I didn’t fully understand why Emilianna hadn’t acted against Maron, but I trusted her. And if she believed this book could help me, I was willing to do whatever it took.
Hours passed, and I lost track of time. The cave grew darker, and the air grew colder, but I didn’t stop. The words in the book seemed to pull me in, each page revealing more secrets, more knowledge.
Eventually, I closed the book, my mind spinning with everything I had read. I felt different, stronger somehow. I didn’t know what the future held, but I knew one thing for sure: I was ready to face it.
I stood up, the Book of Shadows clutched tightly in my hands. I walked back towards the cave entrance, the weight of the book feeling lighter now. As I stepped outside, the cool night air hit my face, and I took a deep breath.
Emilianna was waiting for me, her eyes filled with a quiet pride. "Are you ready?" she asked softly.
I nodded, a new sense of confidence in my voice. "I’m ready."
She smiled, a look of relief and hope crossing her face.
"Good," she said. "Because this is just the beginning."
We stood there in the quiet of the night, the stars shining brightly above us.
"Quite a bonding." I heard Maron's voice from behind us and immediately, the air turned cold.
Emily's povWe both froze the moment we saw him, but I got even more scared, slowly standing up to my feet. My hands shivered. The look in his eyes didn't seem like he was excited to see us."Quite a bonding..." He uttered, and tried moving closer to where we stood. However, we slowly backed away, our heart drumming. What the hell is he doing here, what did he want from us? I pondered inwardly when he suddenly spoke out, his voice low, and evil."You're scared..." He said, as I swallowed. Why wouldn't I be? After everything I knew about him.I slowly turned my head towards Emilianna who still had her eyes fixed on him. Her face was covered in sweat, and I noticed that she was trying so hard to push down the lump that got stuck in her throat. "You think you all can know the truth about me, and get away with it?" He asked, inching closer as we moved further back."ANSWER ME!!!" He roared, and we both flinched."There's nothing here for you. We were just relaxing, and you came here to i
Emily's POV "UGH!!!" I growled. The pain of the transformation was still telling on me. My breaths came out in shallow pants. My claws stabbing against the nearby trees as I staggered, trying to get a hold of myself."No, no!" I growled, closing my eyes tightly. I wanted the transformation to stop. It was so painfully, and all I could smell was the metallic smell of blood that increased greatly."Ahhhh!" I screamed still staggering. However, my line of sight moved towards the place where I heard the sound. My heart raced, and I was eager to know what it was, and for some reason, the urge to kill it took over me."Where are you..." I muttered walking in a slow pace. I didn't want my movements to scare the little guy off. Finally, I saw a view of the I was looking for. A creature, a squirrel with blood running through it's veins. I could hear it's heartbeat, and I fem the urge to take it away from it."Ahhhh!" I pounced on it from the little distance, depriving it of it's acon before f
Emily's POV It seems he's a fool. I was giving him the chance to escape, but he dared challenge me."What happened to running? Do you really think you can avenge her death?" He asked, making me slowly raise my head."You better run away while you still can. I don't want to have to do this," I tried to speak straight, pushing back the hunger that lingered inside of me. My hands were shaking, but he still didn't get the memo."Less talking, more killing!" Maron growled, rushing towards me with all of his might, but I closed my eyes, and held my breath. My single action allowed him to actually get me. His claw scratched my face, making blood trickle down my face. "What is it. Are you scared? Don't you want to die with honour like your precious Emilianna?" He said her name, and I felt my temperature growing higher. My hands were fisted, and my chest moved fast like my drumming heartbeat."How dare you?!" I roared, but instead of him getting scared, he laughed, which caused me to open my
Emily's POVI stared at Maron's body in shock. What had I done? It had taken a miracle for me to get back to my normal self after my last time as a rampaging beserker and now I had inadvertently tapped into that side of me again. Why? Why did Maron have to provoke me? Why had he been so arrogant? I had tried my best to fight my urges, I had given him time to run away but he kept taunting me and now I had killed him. I didn't feel sorry that Maron was dead, he was a jerk, I felt sorry for myself that I had gone back to a disgusting beast in order to do it. I crumbled to the ground and began to cry, this was too much, this was just too much. Why was my life always like this? It seemed like the moon goddess was working against me, not only have I been constantly betrayed by everybody in my life, I turned into this blood thirsty and disgusting beast and I still had no idea why. After crying for a few minutes, I stopped."No, now's not the time to cry and feel sorry for myself. I need to d
Emily's POVI stood very still in the middle of the forest, my ears listening intently to pick up any foreign sounds. It sounded eerily quiet but I wasn't fooled, I knew there was something out there lurking in the shadows waiting for me so it could attack me. I took a step forward then paused swiftly, I turned around just in time to see a shadow hide behind one of the trees. My suspicions were confirmed, someone had been following me and now they wanted to attack. Unfortunately for them, I wasn't just an ordinary wolf, so whoever it was had no idea what was in store for them. I began to move faster, walking briskly to lure out whoever it was that was following me when I suddenly felt a sharp sting in my neck, it was like a pinch but I suddenly felt unstable. I reached my hand to the spot in my neck and pulled out a syringe. It didn't take a lot to know what was in the syringe, it was no doubt a sedative. Whoever these people were it seemed they had a more intricate and complex plan t
EMILY'S POV“Who are you?” I asked him.“Dear, you should focus on your healing. You are too weak right now. Wait here, I'll go get something for you to eat.” He said and walked out the door.I clenched my fists and helped myself get up. Then I ran out the door. Thankfully there weren't much werewolves in sight to stop me so I was able to escape.***My mind raced in thoughts of how I would go out of the forest to the town to get something for myself to eat. I knew that rumors of me were all over the town and the ruler had already placed his men to search all over the town for me. “Well, I think it would be best for me to disguise myself from them to go to town to get something for myself,” I said in a low voice.I went inside and put on my cloak and put in a little dagger at the side of my ribs to use it to defend myself from his soldiers. I quickly followed a short path leading to the town until I found out there was something strange going on inside of me. I found out that my wolf
EMILY'S POVI opened my eyes slowly, I felt weak and unable to move, I tried bringing my hand down because I felt they were hung up, but it seemed hard for me to bring them down. I woke up and realized that I was captured In a cave and was tied to a wall so as not to escape. I looked around to see if there was anyone with me, but there wasn't. “Is anyone there?” I shouted as my voice echoed through the walls. My mind raced how did I get here, it was perplexing to me, so I struggled to untie the ropes until I remember clearly yesterday that I had put a short dagger at the side of my ribs for defense, but there was no way to get it out I had to struggled and struggled unfortunately for me, I broke my bones and was untied from the wall? I felt so much pain on the wounded area, but it didn't last forever. It took some seconds to get healed. I went up and searched for a path that would leave me outside the cave so I could find my way home since there was no one with me inside the cave.
Emily's POV I woke up hearing sounds from outside the cave that I was in. I jumped up in fear as I heard footsteps approaching. “Oh my God,” I gasped and stumbled back.“Emily, it's me.” My heart raced but as I looked at who it was, my heart rate calmed. It was Penelope, the woman in the rogue pack Emilianna created.“Penelope, what are you doing here?” I gasped, curious as to how she found me.“We found the letter the Alpha dropped in her cave after she died. We found out Maron was the one who killed Emilianna's daughter but she didn't want to ruin Maron because of it so she withheld the truth from us. Anyway, we saw the dead body of Emilianna and Maron so we wanted to know what really happened so we came out here looking for you.”“For me, really?”Penelope nodded.“Yes. In the letter we found, Emilianna said we should treat you as her daughter and her heir.”“Why would she want to do that to me? I was nothing but a burden to her?” I broke into sobs. “If it wasn't for me, she'd s
Emily's POV “Going somewhere?” She asked me.“As a matter of fact, yes. But I'll be back soon.”Beth looked at me from up to down. “Well, you can go but be careful, there might be some cruel werewolves lurking about.”“Don't worry about it, I'm pretty cruel myself.”I winked at Beth and went to the horse and carriage not far from the house and began to lead it into the woods. I found some carrots on the ground and I fed it to the horse as well as some water. When I was done, I walked where Viper had been killed and saw that his body was still there. I removed his body away from the tree and checked his pockets only to see a purse. I grabbed it and checked it only to see that it contained silver. I kept the purse in my dress pocket and found something I could dig the ground with. Then I buried Viper in a far away distance and headed back to Beth's hut. By now, it was dark and Beth was standing outside looking worried.“Finally, you came back.” She told me, looking nervous.“Of cours
Emily's POV I rushed out of the room and went to Beth.“Beth, help me. My friend passed out.”Beth gave me a look. “What? But he should be fine now if he wakes up.”“He did wake up and then he passed out while we were talking.”“Maybe he was just too sleepy and then he passed out.”“Please come check him out.”Beth sighed, “Okay.”Then she walked to the room Fayne was in with me rushing behind her. When she went to check him, her eyes widened and she seemed a little panicked.“Why? What's going on?” I asked her and she shook her head at me.Then she continued to check Fayne's body as well as his pulse. When she eventually untied his wound, she sighed as she turned to me.“He seemed to have been poisoned.”“Poisoned?”I thought of how Fayne was shot and then remembered how brutal Matteo was. If he intended to kill me then he wouldn't let my slave live either least he try to avenge me if something should happen to me.“Can you cure him?” I asked her.She sighed. “The poison seemed to h
Emily's POV I was about to leave when I heard him murmur, “Don't go, Emily. Don't leave me.”I looked at him painfully and smiled, “It's alright, Fayne. You'll be fine. You're a strong man.”Then I walked out of my room and flipped my hair back.Beth was outside, tapping her feet against the ground firmly.“I’m ready,” I told her.“Good.” She accessed me from head to toe and then shook her head.“No. Something's wrong.”“What's wrong?” I asked her.“Your outfit.” She responded.“Come on with me, I think I have something good to sneak you into. Although it might not be the best but it is something.”I entered the hut with her and she led me to her room. She opened the closet and handed me a dress that was green and soft looking.“Change into this and meet me outside,” she told me.I collected the cloth from her and changed into it and then looked at my reflection in the mirror. I looked like the way that I did when I was living with Fayne. So young and innocent. When I walked outside
Emily's POV “Emily…” he trailed off.I ignored him and led him into the the carriage and once he was seated, I looked at his hand. The blood had permeated through the fabric which I had used to tie his hand.“Fayne,” I whispered and then ripped apart another layer of my dress and tied his hand.“You do not have to do any of this.” He said.A sigh escaped through my lips. “Why are you so stubborn, Fayne?”I ignored him and turned around to leave when I suddenly felt his grip on my hand.“Fayne,” I said as I faced him.“Kiss me,” he said. “Kiss me before I die.”I stood there in confusion and shock. “Fayne, you don't mean that—”He grabbed me closer to him and before I knew it, I leaned forward out of instinct and our lips pressed onto each other. My eyes widened as I stared at Fayne whose eyes were filled with desire and many more emotions that I'd never noticed before.Fear and passion took over me all at once. Did Fayne like me?I pulled away from the kiss, stunned and filled with a
Emily's POV “I'll leave it then to you.”The warrior was about leaving when all of a sudden, Fayne leaned to the left and his leg hit a thistle on the ground causing a sound to be made. The warrior's ear tilted to the side and he looked towards where Fayne and I were hiding.Fayne looked at me with guilt evidently written on his face.“You stay here,” I said with a definite smile on my face. “I'll go face whatever needs to be faced.”Fayne shook his head no but I ignored him and walked out of our hiding place and looked between the carriage rider and the warrior. The carriage rider turned to the warrior and said, “Go, this is between me and the Luna Emily down. If she is to die, at least her honour must be preserved.”“Yes sir,” the warrior said and left me alone with the carriage rider.I looked at my nails and blew on it gently. “So you're not just a carriage rider, huh?”The carriage smirked at me. “My name is Viper, I am a trained assassin for master Matteo.”“I see. So he has yo
Emily's POV “So, let's go.”“Okay.” I responded to the Alpha of Crystal pack who led the way.Fayne looked at me and followed behind me slowly. We headed to the woods and Matteo sniffed the air.“Oh no, something's wrong.” He said.“What?” I raised a brow.“Before, I sensed some scent around here but now it's not the same. Do you think the rogues left?” Matteo looked to the Alpha of the crystal pack.“Well, I'm unsure what is going on but we'll find out won't we?”“There's land at the forefront, maybe if we go there we'll find some clue.” The Luna of Crystal pack said which led me to smile and nod.Internally, I was nervous. I hoped they did not catch Penelope, Adam and the others. If they did, I was unsure if I would be able to help them.Goosebumps covered my skin as we got to the land at the forefront, there was a running wolf that was spotted and his wolf felt very familiar to me.“There's one,” Matteo whispered. He then brought out his bow and arrow that he was keeping around hi
Emily's POV “But Alpha, what is your plan exactly?” Adam asked.“In due time, you'll know.” I responded.“By the way, you and Penelope should get going. Have the others retreat and leave. When my brother's warriors arrive, it'll be hard to leave.”“Your brother?” Adam asked.“Yes, my brother Matteo is from the Donovan pack. He has some influence there.”“Oh, I see.” Adam responded.“By the way, how do we reach out to you?”“In Galahad clan. You just have to find the chance. I'll leave the packhouse every red moon so you can find me by that time.” I responded.Adam sighed. “It really is so glad to see you again, but the jewels you gave are not enough to build a pack house.”“I'll send you more when you come to Galahad clan. But please, be very careful and don't put your life in harm's way. Walk in groups so you won't be targeted.”“Okay, thank you Alpha.”“You should get going now.” I said.“Yes,” Adam turned away while Penelope hesitated and turned towards me. “Can I hug you?”I cr
Emily's POV When I stripped out of my clothes, I got into the pond and sighed from how refreshing the water felt against my skin.“Peace,” I whispered. The fatigue of the travel slowly unraveled from me. I wondered where Fayne was but I knew I didn't have to worry as he was probably going to be somewhere around here.I felt a bit guilty as I'd told him that I'd protect him but right now, I was nowhere anywhere around him. ‘It's okay though, he'll be fine. He's capable than you think.’ my wolf came into the surface, calming me down.I soaked my hair in the water and continued to enjoy the soak, then I heard a growl behind the pond.I leaned forward, gasping while trying to listen closely for any sound. Then I sensed a presence behind me.I turned around in the pond and saw a dark brown wolf with some clothes in its mouth. I got out of the pond and looked at the wolf, somehow feeling some sort of understanding towards it. It just felt like I knew it somehow.“Who are you? And why are
Emily's POV “It's nothing like that. It's just a simple gift to acknowledge our collaboration as allies.”I looked at Matteo.“Are you allowed to talk about that?”Matteo scoffed. “Oh the rider is one of my people, we can say whatever we want around him and nothing bad will happen haha,”“Please take back your gift, I don't want it.”“Well I'm not taking it back so you might as well keep it.”I sighed and placed it on the table.“What's the plan when we get to crystal pack? The deal is that we chase the rogues from the pack but just the two of us can't do that.” I said.“First of all, congratulations on getting back your wolf. Secondly, my people are on the way, they may just arrive a little later.”“I see.”When we arrived at Crystal pack, the Alpha and Luna came out holding each other's hands. The Luna looked at me with a wide smile on her face.“I knew you'd come back, Emily. It's so nice to see you.”“Thank you, Luna.” I responded with a kind smile.Matteo and the Alpha of Crysta
