Emily's pov

We both froze the moment we saw him, but I got even more scared, slowly standing up to my feet. My hands shivered. The look in his eyes didn't seem like he was excited to see us.

"Quite a bonding..." He uttered, and tried moving closer to where we stood. However, we slowly backed away, our heart drumming.

What the hell is he doing here, what did he want from us? I pondered inwardly when he suddenly spoke out, his voice low, and evil.

"You're scared..." He said, as I swallowed. Why wouldn't I be? After everything I knew about him.

I slowly turned my head towards Emilianna who still had her eyes fixed on him. Her face was covered in sweat, and I noticed that she was trying so hard to push down the lump that got stuck in her throat.

"You think you all can know the truth about me, and get away with it?" He asked, inching closer as we moved further back.

"ANSWER ME!!!" He roared, and we both flinched.

"There's nothing here for you. We were just relaxing, and you came here to interrupt us. If you don't want trouble, you better leave!" Emilianna defended us.

"Really? Someone has the guts to challenge me..." He took his eyes away from her, landing it at me, and for some reason, our eyes clashed.

"Do you feel the same way as well?"

My heart skipped a beat, and I swallowed, shaking my head. However, he soon rushed towards me, but Emilianna jumped in.

She stopped the blow he was about to give me, her hands shivering midair.

"Run away, run..." She yelled, veins popping up on her head. I could see the struggle, but the issue at hand was that I was unable to move.

"Run Emily, run!" She echoed, but surprisingly, she was lifted by Maron, using the land she held tightly to.

"You shouldn't have done that," he muttered, his eyes staring directly into her as he tossed her towards one of the trees.

I struggled to run,but it seemed like my legs were stuck in one. I pulled hard, trying to drag my feet to agree with me, but they refused.

He slowly walked towards me, this time, he flicked his fingers to bring out his claw, eyes fixed on me like I was going to disappear any second now.

"No, no please, Maron. Don't do this..." I pleaded, but he seemed to approach me even faster.

In a swift, he grabbed my neck, and pressed hard on it, his fingers sinking in.

My eyes remained squinted, a wave pattern appearing in my forehead, and I clenched my teeth due to the impact of the pain.

"You both already know too much. It would be a shame to let you both go," he explained.

Just when I thought I was done for, I noticed Emilianna already standing to her feet. She was breathing hard, and her hands were in a fist, so I kept him busy in other not to notice her.

"Why are you doing this, why?!" I started to cry due to the tension that overwhelmed me.

"Because I!"

Emilianna punched him, cutting his words short as he let me go. Her chest was heaving, and she turned towards me with her hair stuck to her face.

"Let's go..."

She didn't have to tell me twice because I knew. However as we started to race out of there, I heard her growl in pain.

"AHHH!"

Her voice echoed so loud that it caused me to stop in my tracks.

"EMILIANNA!" I Screamed when I saw how she landed on the ground.

I rushed to her, and didn't bother about the monster that had risen to his feet and was now approaching us.

Crouching to her level, I held her face so she could look into my eyes.

"Please, please get up, and let's get out of here. He's coming..." I alerted her, my eyes darting between them. But it seemed like she didn't have plans to do that.

"You go. You have suffered so much, and it would be a shame for you to end this way. Go, and I would hold him off. At least, that would be able to distract him."

"NO. I can't leave you. I can't," I tried to make her understand. My vision was already turning blurry due to the tears that had gathered in my eyes.

"Just try to walk, we'll make it out of here together, please..." I begged, but she smiled at me.

"You'll leave here. Do you understand me? You'll not stay back and watch what will happen."

"Because you'll die! You'll fucking die if you stay here," i was breathing hard, but he was getting close.

"Go. I promise you, I will do not my best not to die. But I can't watch my daughter die twice,"

As soon as she said that, I stood up, and started running. It was a clear path, and I turned back at intervals, watching how she tried to hold him back.

Everything seemed like it happened in slow motion. Infact, even my running seemed slower.

Suddenly, I paused. Everything, including time paused as a piercing scream was let out through the sky.

"It is definitely her. It was." My words died down when I saw that his claws had passed through her, and had burst out the other side.

"Next time, you'll never decide to fight me."

He pulled his claws back, but stabbed her again before my very eyes. Even when I was some distance away, the clear path made me able to see what happened.

"No, no!" I yelled, and ran away as fast as I could. My heart drummed, and my eyes couldn't hold back the tears that streamed down as I ran.

I ran for what seemed like a while, finally stopping with my teeth clenched together. I was trying to catch my breath, and at the same time, I relived whatever I saw back there.

"No, no!" My hands were shaking on their own. The scent of blood filled my nostrils, and my hands itched to punch something.

I punched the trees harder, and harder, my fist turning red, but that didn't seem enough.

"You couldn't save her because you were too weak! Why did she save such a loser in the first place? I feel so sorry for her."

I growled, and immediately continued punching. I punched so hard my fingers scratched my fist.

My eyes were slowly being crowded, my nostrils inhailimg the scent of blood. My breaths came out in pants, and I screamed as I felt pain flash through me.

"Ahhhh! What's happening to me?" I asked, falling to my knees. I quickly rushed to the puddle that was close by, and that was when I saw my eyes.

"No, no... I'm slowly turning. I'm turning into the beserker..."

My nails got darker and elongated till my claws were fully jutted out.It wasn't a full moon that night, but I hadn't gained total control over my wolf-self.Fancied, — as though I hadn't seen my claws a million times — I swung my hand and cleaved at the window, leaving four slash marks on the glass. I had to hold back, so I wouldn't have to start clearing up broken shards of glass, again. Then I heard a voice, a familiar voice…“Ugh… Seriously, Emily, you have to stop doing that.”I retracted my claws and turned my gaze away from the window. Standing at the other side of the bed, with a hand on her tapered waist, was my best friend, Lyla Dune, a beta like me. She was much stronger though.“You know we just got that window, right? If you break this one, we'll miss the party,” she adde

Emily's POVA dream was what I thought it was. Scratch that. A nightmare would have been more suitable. But it was neither of them. It was real. Real!I could tell it was real because of the pain I felt when Lyla slapped me on the cheek. It pushed my head sideways and I hit my temple against the door’s glass. It hurt. My head spun. The next thing I could remember was seeing her crawl towards the back and open the door. But I still had my weight resting on it, so I fell immediately when it opened.I struck my body against the concrete floor of the car park. I could have sworn to hear a few bone cracks. Then the jeep roared to life and drove out of the car park, feeding me with dust and smoke from its exhaust pipe.I was left battered and bruised, both physically, emotionally, and psychologically. It was probably still a couple of minutes to six that morning because the sun was barely out. The surroundings were still dark and bleak.I heaved a relieved sigh that it was still early. It w

Emily's POVI woke up to find myself alone in the woods, on the night of a full moon.“Ugh…” I rubbed my glabella as my head throbbed in pain. It was as though my brain had switched places with my heart. My skull felt heavy. It was as I tried to lessen the pain that my nose twitched at the smell of a nice, savory scent. Still rubbing my glabella with two fingers, I dropped my head to see a small lunch box at my feet. It had a note stuck on it.I leaned forward as I reached for the lunch box with my free hand. I peeled off the note and brought it under my weary gaze.Even without looking at the footnote, I could instantly tell that it was from Tyler. His handwriting was unique.Reading the note in his voice, it said:“I'm sorry you had to find out like this. I had no choice. I thought you were dead.“I had to take you out of the house after you collapsed and passed out. My dad was visiting. There's food in the flask. Please eat that to replenish your strength.“And don't try to come ov

  • The THORN LUNA   Chapter Four

Emily's POVMy life in the palace wasn't as quiet as I'd expected, ever since I started cleaning in the palace, I had the king's eye on me ever since I started my job. At first, it started out as a curious glance and I shook it off as he was just being cautious around her due to me being new. But after a while, he assigned me to clean his own room and since then his quiet stares had incessantly increased and I felt more uncomfortable around him. I didn't make any friends in the palace and definitely didn't want to become buddies with the king. I tried to avoid him as much as possible but he was actually very persistent and frankly, there was nothing I could do to avoid a king.Soon enough, he started to talk to me with lust in his eyes. I knew that look when I saw it and I was tired of such looks, I really didn't want to be mated to anyone or even want to talk to any man. I wanted to be on my own terms for now. It was already hard enough to live with the hollow in my heart, I don't

  • The THORN LUNA   Chapter Five

Emily's POVI spent three weeks in the room before I decided to give the king my answer. During those three weeks, I had his undivided attention all through as he seemed to have abandoned all kingly duties. He made me his main topic and we did everything together. We dined together, talked together and I even started to confide in him a few details of my past.Whilst all this happened, I was thinking critically to myself about the choice I was going to make, it felt as if I really had no choice but to say yes. Before I did, I wanted to make sure the man I was involved with was as kind as he proposed to be. I mean a man who was four hundred years old, why would he fall in love with me? So I spent a few weeks watching his mannerisms and the hidden glances behind his gestures but I found nothing amiss. Maybe he was real I thought, maybe there was a chance that he really loved me but I knew deep down within the hollow in my soul that something was amiss. I sat down at my mirror on the f

Your brother could kill me when he finds out.” I said and Aiden nodded.“Just leave this to me, I'll find a way for you. In the meantime, act normal around others. But make sure your things are packed just in case. And don't take too much stuff with you.”“Okay,” I said and he nodded.“Wait, what about the gate pass? Emily's POV I stared blankly at Emilianna. My heart was beating so fast, I could feel it in my throat. I didn’t know how to begin. The words were there, but they were stuck. They felt too big, too heavy to say out loud."Emily," Emilianna said softly, her voice calm and gentle. "I’m here. I’m listening. Whatever it is, just tell me."I swallowed hard, trying to find my voice. "I... I know something," I began, my voice shaking. "Something important."Emilianna nodded, her eyes encouraging. "Go on," she urged, her tone patient and kind.I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. "It’s about Maron," I whispered, my voice barely above a whisper. "He... he killed your daughter."Emilianna didn’t react the way I expected. She didn’t gasp or look shocked. Instead, she remained calm, her eyes soft but steady. "I know," she said quietly.I blinked, confused. "You... you know?" I asked, my voice full of disbelief."Yes, Emily," she replied, her voice gentle but firm. "I’ve known for a long

It heals your gut. I Iearned from my grandma that if you want to heal your brain, it all starts with the gut.”“Really?” I said.“Sure.”We sat outside the kitchen and Penelope sighed at me.“I don't know why but I feel like I can talk to you about anything.” she said and I raised a brow.“Really?”“Yes, that's why I wanted to connect with your wolf when we were at the woods but I couldn't.”“Right.”When the food came, I was grateful to

How could I bring myself to sleep at ease when Maron did something so horrible to Emilianna's daughter and she didn't know. Wouldn't it be easier to get rid of me while I'm asleep? I sat up on the bed.“No, I will not sleep.”“You will sleep.” I heard a voice at the entrance of the cave causing me to sigh. It was Emilianna. My mind was fearful but my heart was calm. I wanted to tell Emilianna what I had heard but I just couldn't bring myself to. She wouldn't trust a stranger over her pack member.“Emilianna,” I said, and she smiled as she walked over and caressed my face.“Why aren't you sleeping yet?”“I don't feel comfortable.” I responded.“You don't feel comfortable enough to sleep or what?”“Yes.” I said, and she smiled. “Shoul
