Chapter Eleven

Emily's POV 

“What do you want to do?” I asked myself out loud, but then I decided to keep my thoughts to myself.

“Don't worry about anything,” I said to myself. “Everything will work out eventually.”

Then I ran my fingers through my tangy hair and sighed. How could I bring myself to sleep at ease when Maron did something so horrible to Emilianna's daughter and she didn't know. Wouldn't it be easier to get rid of me while I'm asleep? I sat up on the bed.

“No, I will not sleep.”

“You will sleep.” I heard a voice at the entrance of the cave causing me to sigh. It was Emilianna.

My mind was fearful but my heart was calm. I wanted to tell Emilianna what I had heard but I just couldn't bring myself to. She wouldn't trust a stranger over her pack member.

“Emilianna,” I said, and she smiled as she walked over and caressed my face.

“Why aren't you sleeping yet?”

“I don't feel comfortable.” I responded.

“You don't feel comfortable enough to sleep or what?”

“Yes.” I said, and she smiled. “Should I ask someone to make you some tea?”

“No, I'm fine.” I said and she smiled.

“You're kinder than you seem.”

“Excuse me?”

“I guess you don't like to burden others with your desires. But I'll let you know this, it is okay to do so. You are not a machine but a werewolf and as werewolf, we have needs.”

“Emilianna, If you get me tea, I would need to use the bathroom frequently while I sleep, it'll be uncomfortable.” I said and she smiled. “Uncomfortable indeed, well, you have a point.”

Emilianna ran her fingers through her hair and leaned closer to look at me.

“You're wearing my late daughter’s blue dress.”

“Is that a problem?” I said.

“Not really. I'm only making an observation that I see here.”

“Your daughter… how was she?”

Emilianna sighed. “Well, she was meek, beautiful and very intelligent. It was her intelligence that I loved about her the most. If she spoke to you, you'd wonder why she's on earth. She was the most angelic and stunning person you'd ever see in your entire life. Maron liked her.”

I shifted uncomfortably on the bed. “Maron? Who's that?” I asked.

“One of my best pack members. He is an hunter, still the best one that one could ever know. He was going to marry my daughter and I was going to bless him to be the heir to me after my daughter married him. But unfortunately…” Emilianna trailed off while swallowing nervously.

“I’m sorry.” I placed a hand on Emilianna's shoulder. She shook her head at me and I smiled.

“My daughter was going to marry Maron but she died before they could ever get together so it's not only me grieving my daughter. Maron is to. He even stepped away from hunting for a little while. He must have been so heartbroken.” Emilianna trailed off. I wanted to speak so bad, to tell her the truth of what I heard but it was difficult to.

“I’m sorry for your loss, Emilianna.”

“My daughter used to sleep early. Would you do that for me? Sleep early, Emily.” She said.

I sighed and nodded, “Fine.”

I closed my eyes and my mind was filled with various thoughts, but with Emilianna by my side, I felt safe and protected. My heart was willing to trust her.

The next day, I woke up to a pair of red clothing on the bed. I sat up on the bed and picked up the red clothing. It was beautiful. I changed my clothing and stepped out the cave only to see Emilianna first.

“Good morning, Emily. Did you sleep well?”

“Yes, I did. Thank you for being there last night, you made me feel safe.”

Emilianna grinned. “I’m glad I was able to do that for you. Come on, let's go meet the others, I want to introduce you to them.”

“But why is that? I would just be here for six more days acting like your daughter, you don't need to introduce me to the bunch.”

“I actually do. So that if they see you around, they won't be so rigid. They can be like that at times to people that they don't know.”

“Oh,” I said.

I ran my fingers through my hair and Emilianna grabbed my wrist. “When I introduce you to them just be gentle, don't think of anything else.”

“Fine,” I said.

Emilianna led me through the paths untill we were in the gathering of the rogue wolves. Many of them were doing their own things.

“Hey, everyone,” Emilianna yelled out loud, getting the attention of everyone. They stopped what they were doing and turned to her respectfully.

”Alpha,” they chorused with their head bowed.

“I would like to introduce you to this werewolf right here, her name is Emily. She'll be with us for now.”

“Alpha, who exactly is she?” Maron asked.

“She's someone that I saved. She's also someone who will stay with us from on. Please everyone, accept her with open arms.”

Maron looked at me a certain way.

“Do you hunt?” Maron asked me.

I hesitated. “Yes,”

Maron smiled. “Good.” then he turned to Emilianna. “If you don't mind, I would like to go hunting with Emily.”

Emilianna nodded. “Sure, go with her. It's the best. You two can exchange ideas and get to know each other.”

Maron gestured to me to follow him and I did. I turned back to look at Emilianna and saw that she had her arms crossed over her chest.

The team with Maron seemed to be wearing bows and arrows on their back.

“Emily,” one of them with white hair said.

“My name is Adam,” he said. I responded with an affirmative nod.

“Nice to meet you.”

“Hunting is our way of accepting new members and giving them their ranks.”

“But I ain't a rogue? You sure about accepting me?”

“That’s not up for us to decide. It's for the Alpha.”
