Emily's POV

“Ugly things,” I said, tracing the wound.

“Luna, come with me.” Melissa said.

“Just tell me where the Alpha is and I'll go to him, I have another task for you to handle.” I said.

“Okay, what task is that?” She asked me softly.

“Take Fayne here to the library.”

Melissa hesitated but then she nodded, “Okay, I guess I can do that.”

“Where is the Alpha?” I asked.

“In the dinning room.” She responded.

“Okay, I'll go to him. Make sure no one gets in the way of Fayne's study.”

“Understood, but who is this Fayne exactly?” Melissa asked me. “He seems to be human.”

“He is human,” I responded. “He used to be the human king's hunter but that is all in the past, Fayne is an helper to me so just treat him like you would treat me.”

Fayne's lips parted but I decided to not pay him any attention. “I'm going to leave now.”

I started to head back to the pack house.

“But Luna, will you be alright?” Fayne asked me to which I nodded.

“Yeah, just go.”

I proceeded to walk forward while keeping my head up. No matter what, I would make sure I deal with this matter without it tainting my hands. I was fed up of being weak and somehow, I wanted to stand on my ground without feeling ashamed for it.

Once I was at the pack house, I walked to the dinning room only to see Jacob turning his back to me.

“Finally, you're back.”

I forced a smile onto my lips. “I just had a chat with my brother since I miss him so much.”

“Sounds like he's the one who missed you a lot.” Jacob turned around to look at me and I sighed.

“My brother may seem cold and uncaring on the surface but he's actually really nice.” I lied.

“I heard you weren't that close to any of your brothers after you reached a certain age growing up.”

“Well it's only rumors, my brothers are nice people.”

Jacob inhaled deeply. “Let's eat.”

I looked past Jacob and for the first time noticed the neatly arranged table comprising of several hot meals that were definitely nourishing to the taste.

“Thank you for inviting me to eat,” I said and he smirked as he sat down at the head of the table.

“We’re married, we should be together at all times. Which reminds me… we haven't consummated our marriage yet.”

I hesitated but then I decided to stand my ground. Standing my ground was the most befitting thing that I could do for myself now no matter what.

Although Jacob already knew me, it was different now between the two of us.

“Alpha, it is too soon to talk about that. And besides, you invited me here to eat so let's focus on doing that.”

Jacob held back a smile.

“Actually, i didn't ask you to come here just to eat.”

I frowned.

“Then what am I here for?”

“Sit,” Jacob started to dig into his meal.

I hesitated but then pulled out a chair and sat down. I felt uncomfortable but I guessed it was for the better.

Gently, i sliced open the roasted duck and brought it to my lips.

“I want to officially make you my Luna.”

I placed the fork back down.

“The inauguration ceremony is tomorrow.”

“Why are you doing this? You don't really care about me.” I said.

“Honestly, I want you to be my Luna, both for my pack and for you to be my wife, I know that I've messed up in the past but truly, I have a repentant soul now and I would like for us to be close to what we used to be. Soulmates.”

I didn't know what to say.

Jacob sped in front of me and held me by the chin.

“Emily,” He leaned in to kiss me but I pulled away.

“Jacob, you broke my heart. It would take more than an apology to fix the gaping lines between us.”

“Then I'll make it up to you,”

Jacob pulled away. “I’ll make you fall in love with me more than anything else in the world. Just like you used to.”

I watched Jacob but didn't say anything else.

“Go on, eat.”

I nodded and watched Jacob go back to his seat before I started eating. Once we were done, Jacob called out to a guard.

“Yes, Alpha?”

“Bring the Luna’s things into the pack house. From now on, she'll stay close to my room.”

“In that case then I have one request.” I said.

“And what is that?” Jacob asked.

“I’ll bring Melissa and my slave with me,”

“Your slave?” Jacob stared at me and I maintained eye contact. Once he saw that I didn't break it, he sighed.

“Fine, they'll be allowed into the pack house as well.”

“Thank you, Jacob.”

“I said I'd make it up to you, this is nothing compared to what is coming.” Jacob said and I cleared my throat.

“Well, I look forward to it then.”

Jacob wiped the side of his mouth with an handkerchief.

“I have work to do so I'll get going now.”

Jacob stood to his feet and I stood up as well.

“Well, do have a productive afternoon.” I told him.

Jacob looked at me for a long time and then he smiled. “Thank you. I think work won't bore me a whole lot anymore.”

“And why is that?” I asked him.

“Well, that's because I have someone to do it all for now.”

I held back a scoff. “Don't flatter me. You have a lot of pack members of course you're doing it for them.”

Jacob smiled. “I can't get you easily can I? Watch me try.”

Jacob sped out the door, leaving me alone. A sigh escaped from my lips as I stared at the wide open door.

Now that Jacob wanted me to move into the inner courts of the pack house, I was afraid it would be difficult for me to scheme against Jacob, but thankfully I would have Melissa and Fayne with me. I hoped everything turn out well.

I think she needs you more right now.”“You're in danger more, I'd like to guard you. You don't know how dangerous werewolves can be. You're just a human.”“I know I'll be fine.” I said a

She was trying to tell me something but my senses seemed so short from it that I could barely understand it.“I’m sorry Fayne but I need to meditate.”I sat at the edge of the water and closed my eyes about to meditate but Fayne sighed. “No, your dress is wet. You're going to catch a cold if you stay in this for long.”“Well, you're right.” I responded. “But I feel that I might lose the moment to catch up with my wolf.”“No you won't.” Fayne was about to place a hand on his shoulder but then he pulled away.“The easier you are on yourself the more meditative state you'll be in, thus making it easier to connect with your wolf. Isn't it?”Although I didn't want to do what Fayne was suggesting, I felt it wasn't a bad idea. I was always indulging to a

I removed my outer robe and shifted into my wolf, tearing my inner robes into shreds. My wolf felt completely free and I ran into the woods, feeling the air soak me in completely. For the first time, I felt completely covered in my essence. I was finally in touch with my inner self.As my paws danced against the softness of the ground, I felt completely grounded and rooted.“Where have you been all this while?” I asked my wolf.“Although I was unconscious, I was always with you. I reminded myself that in order for me to get what I wanted, I needed to be strong but mostly calm and composed.“Well, I'm going to a trip to a Redstone pack for personal reasons. Would you like to come with me?”I thought about it. It could be a plan to get me to eat and drink in another location so he can poison me and blame it on others.“Actually, I want to explore this place a bit more so I'm not going.”“Are you sure?” He asked me.“Yeah,” I answered. “By the way, what are you going to do in Redstone pack?”“Well, just to build some connections that's all.”I hesitated. You've been working for me for so long and…”I trailed off.“Anyways, you can go. I'll talk to you tomorrow.”“Yes, Emily.”Fayne picked up the tray and walked away then closed the door to my room. Then I went back into Jacob's office and looked through all the books and articles. I ended up spending the entire day there. The next day, i was in my room meditating. When I was done, all of my wolf's senses were restored to me which made me feel happy. All I had to do now was go into the woods and strengthen my instincts for hunting.I heard a knock on my door which made me happy. I opened the door and was very elated to see Melissa. She had her hair in a bun. Usually she would let her hair down.

I found some carrots on the ground and I fed it to the horse as well as some water. When I was done, I walked where Viper had been killed and saw that his body was still there. I removed his body away from the tree and checked his pockets only to see a purse. I grabbed it and checked it only to see that it contained silver.
